thanks for the video. i wanted to do my s3. But after watching your video- Audi is annoying , putting so many bolts and awkward places and it's a bloody waste of time. Yes.. hes engine is flipped unlike most. Notice the drainplug is facing forward and not on the side. You have to get an engine support from the top, and support the tranny with a jack so you can drop the subframe 🤗

One question, do you have to smear the gasket before you install? I just put the pan right on the engine after I squeeze them on the surface. And I don’t put gasket behind the screw hole close to the edge.
No you dont have to i just did it to ensure that everything has good coverage as well to not miss any spots & so it disperses evenly when i tightened everything up.
Its better to smear it because on these aluminium oil pans you don't need a lot and by smearing it levels the sealant over the surface, gives a more even coverage and keeps it thin. Doing it this way there's more chance of getting a good seal and less chance of leaks.
Blocked oil pickup or bad oil pump. Blocked oil pickup is common, even more with a turbo version. Excess sealant or sludge, and/or crud from Crankcase ventilation system. I will repost once I have done mine.

Use a swivel socket and you can get the out with no problem it the swivel sockets moves to much put alittle electric tape on it and that will help

Hey there! Great video! I have seen where some people remove the sub frame to get to the oil pan? Did you have to do that, or not? Thanks!
bigeyejim i actually didnt man, i think thats on the quattro variant of the TT cause it is a bit different. I have the FWD version
