@@eri_lynn. You're wrong again. You said that it was illegal for anyone to touch someone else's property without permission. That's not an opinion you're stating a legal fact. You know, what you leftists call "misinformation" or "disinformation". Stay safe out there y'all.
@@tippski5229 it is illegal to touch someone’s property without permission! Also not sure who you’re calling a lefty. Just because you disagree, doesn’t give you the right to judge me! I said nothing wrong in either of my comments.
Some police officers may take cash but you allways get a receipt and some have a credit card machine. You usually only need to pay in cash (or ATM) if you live outside the country or you are due to the police. (as the police officer need to do much more paperwork if he take cash, this isn't a standard police officer, it's usually the same person who you may pay in cash at the station)
1. You MUST answer their question of who you are and where you live. 2. You do not have to answer questions. You have the right to remain silent. Contradiction don’t you think?
Mehmed Tiro No, it's not. You do not have to answer questions APART FROM your name and address. Most people understand that. Correction: most intelligent people understand that.
If you are not driving, you are not required by law to tell the police ANYTHING including your name or address. You can simply state that you won't be answering ANY questions without legal council. This may result in your being detained but it is your right.
Lol one time police came to my house and me and my mom were surprised. Apparently, someone had called 911. We honestly didn't think it a true cause my mom always talks to us about emergencies and 911 and stuff lots of times. So we checked all the phones, and o one it was still dialed. I hanged up, and since we didn't know who did we asked my brothers. My littler brother went all quite and then he started crying and we and the police officer spends 20 minutes trying to calm him down and everything. I was really funny cause he thought he was gonna go to jail! :)
You dont have to identify yourself unless you are suspected of a crime. If you are randomly stopped ask what crime you are suspected of, and if you are being detained. If you aren't being detained walk away. Also, probable cause doesn't allow the police to search your bag. There is an exception for your vehicle and anything in it, but any other search is illegal without consent.
Unknown Lifeform you are very ignorant. The other day I saw two officers practically jump a homeless black dude. Dude was missing an arm too so I don't know how exactly he was threatening 🙄
I started laughing at the last question "what do I do if I need help from the police" because once my sister and I were out with this guy, we were being driven home when my sister started to become unresponsive (she was still conscious but she was acting and breathing weird and not answering any of our questions.) I had never seen her like this before and didn't know what was going on but she was getting progressively weirder. A cop just so happened to be driving buy when the guy we were with rolled down the window and waved down the cop. They pulled over and we told the cop what was going on he then called for help and an ambulance and fire truck showed up. The ambulance took her to the hospital to find out what was going on with her. Turns out she was having a severe panic attack she had had them before but didn't tell anyone (she even says she was aware of what we were saying and wanted to tell us she was fine and didn't need us to pull over the cops but she couldn't) so we didn't know not too. I just thought it was funny that we got to pull over a cop.

They touch the brake light when walking up to know whether or not it is the car they were chasing if it speeds away before they can get the license or information
So police can treat you differently if they suspect you are homeless? does anyone else find that astonishingly messed up? It's like you lose your right to exist. It's a sick world.
Well how exactly is it messed up? Most people don't want to be homeless, and the law is probably there so there can be a home provided for the person. Unless the law just arrests them
a lot of homeless have some kind of mental issues. I feel for some but not for others. because mc Donald's is always hiring. and you find a roommate in a news paper and keep finding better jobs. a good part of the homeless population could work. even if it's something they hate. they didn't become homeless over night. they were born went to school had chances.
@Roman Mashburn my dad is a cop&a traffic accident reconstructionist, step mom works in the front office of the police station and volunteers for Lions Club, moms boyfriends brothers wife’s brother does video game designing, moms boyfriends brother does heating and cooling, moms boyfriends cousins were firefighters, moms dad used to be in the military&worked at Wallgreens Pharmacy, moms grandma used to own a candy shop, some people work for BP gas station in my family, mom used to be a nurse, moms dad used to be a lifeguard when he was in high school, etc.. my dad is super nice especially my mom because I’m very loved by my family for almost 17 years now. I get what I want, I’m extremely lucky, very spoiled, very loved, and very special so I have a ton of nice expensive stuff. But we’re not rich
I had an experience with the police. I had like.... 4 years. I had broken my eyebrow, and we had to go to the hospital. My father tried to go faster, so he didn't driving on the main street. He driven on another street, to get there faster. But it was forbidden, so the police stopped us. He saw me bandaged and let us go.
And it would help to tell the officer that. I have some disorders that make most situations difficult for me. I've never dealt with police officers up close but I do know from training that letting people know before hand of this can help people understand why your not calm
yes, after a routine traffic violation, I was so nervous that my arms were shaking. The police made me get out of my car, searched me. They found nothing. They said they did all of this because my nervousness was "probable cause"...
Dad: "Why is the fbi at our door??" Me: "Don't worry I watched BRIGHT SIDE's video about this" *Cracks Knuckles*. I made my first video on my channel guys I hope you like it
Most cops are usually jerks but you have to remember they are people too and they deal with all the trash society has to offer. Give them grace and treat them the way you would like to be treated. You actually might make a difference in their day and the way they view how everyone is.
I like what you call "trash " and I think we would want people and police to care about even the broken or cruel people. As it helps not only the person it helps their families and everyone. And no one is "trash". But we do need to stop people no matter how the act if they are hurting other humans. And to help no matter who they are people in need whatever that need is.
Not necessarily. They're cops, they know what legal advice is generally given and if you're calm and friendly, they'll just assume you listen to your lawyer.
Rhiannon Rapplean Sounds good. I doubt they follow the rules they're supposed to all the time. Not everyone can afford the time and money and risk of retaliation of going to a lawyer would involve. Granted they can believe you really do have a lawyer, but most people don't and can't afford one, so cops are free to harrass lots of people without hearing about it through litigation. That's not an argument for answering their questions, just challenging your optimism.
Calm and friendly and white. Calm and friendly and black, admittedly, USUALLY works, but it's not as reliable. Calm and friendly is still preferred over annoyed and evasive.
The best question you can ask a police officer is "what is the name of the victim?" or "may I have the name of the victim please?" and just keep repeating these questions until the encounter is over. If there is no victim then there's is no crime.
No. Unless it involves national security, there is no reason for the name of the victim(s) to be classified and one of your Constitutional rights is to confront witnesses against you. This is why only a fool pays a ticket produced by a traffic camera because a camera can not be a witness. It is only partial evidence. This is also why only a foolish person pays a ticket produced by a police officer when there is no victim except for the person who is being extorted by law enforcement over a victimless crime.
Think you meant ask him IN for some tea or coffee, or ask if he would like some tea or coffee, but yes, that would be a nice thing to do. Like how you wrote it too - lol.
I have dealt with police for a variety of reason's, I've been stopped in road check's and for speeding. I was even stopped while driving a military vehicle the officer asked me to get out of the cab as it was a M35 transport truck, I informed him I was armed and got out with both a pistol and a FN rifle both of which I handed to him even though I didn't have to. If I get stopped for breaking the law then that's my fault and I can't blame anyone but myself, if I felt I was being wronged by the officer I will get their name and badge number and deal with it later. Arguing with the cop is not the right thing to do as they have the power at that moment, and anything you do at that time could go against you. Being respectful has gotten me out of lot's of tickets over the year's.
Yes, over the years Ive had many dealings with the police (some good and some bad) Ive never been arrested because I always let them do what they wanted me to do. Some I thought were unfair but I said nothing. The most recent one was I was out walking and a black lady who was just being friendly stopped me to talk. I didnt know that I was in an all black neighborhood and at the corner the police stopped me and asked if I was buying drugs! I used to work nights and I walked to work. I was always being stopped for something (car burglaries, drugs, you name it!) It isnt always black men who are being stopped by the police!
Questions to consider: Q. If I were pulled over and wanted to write down the name and badge number of the officer, how would I do that without removing my hands from the wheel? Q. Couldn’t that act alone, (reaching for a pen & paper-even if I let the officer know what I was doing) be interpreted as a potential violent act? Q. And Even though I / we all have the right to ask for the officers info and have the right to write it down, how could I prove I had asked? Q. What if the officer claims I didn’t ask for that information? Q. Couldn’t I end up in more trouble because it would be the officers word against mine? Yes, It is our right to get that information, but I’m not so sure it how well it would be received by the officer or how willing the officer would be to accommodate such a request. Don’t get me wrong, I love and have the utmost respect for all the people who protect us and put their lives on the line everyday for us. They have a lot to deal with every day, and they are well trained, but they are also human beings not robots. They have the same feelings; fears, frustrations, family issues, work related issues as we all do. I think I’d pass on asking for that information unless, of course, it was absolutely necessary to do so. And even then, I’d make sure that there were witnesses (for both myself and officers). One additional question or FYI... Don’t regulations, policies, and procedures for local, state and federal law enforcement agencies differ? I am a former public school teacher and regulations, policies and procedures varied. All school regulations had to comply with Federal Regulations but the school district policies, the local and stare regulations could differ (as long as they included and complied with state and federal regulations).
Umm, yup! Im not proud of this but I have a very bad short term memory...which freezes under stress. First I’d have to find where I put my pen, and after I found it, chances are I would have forgotten what I needed it for. Then I would probably ask the officer why I needed my pen. And finally, at this point, I would not have a choice about having to get out of my car...Yup I’d be outside the car singing my Abc’s! Lol, lol!
No sir. In the US a peace officer is required to wear identifiable information on the uniform or provide it upon request. Most will give you their business card if you request in large departments as a matter of policy. In large departments they will introduce themselves when they approach you with their name and department number.
Ron Chapél thanks the info! A business card would be perfect for me (providing I didn’t lose it on my way home lol, lol). I didn’t realize they carry business cards and never would’ve thought to ask. Great advice. Thanks again!
Cops aren’t this tense. They make it sound like it. Don’t worry, all the cops that I know, would shake your hand if you offered it.

They touch your boot (trunk) because there has been times when an officer has been ambushed by someone waiting with a gun in the boot, not to leave fingerprints
at least im not... but my dad is (what he tells me) the best lawyer in the state or something, cant remember, but ive been in his office, it seems to be all legit but im not so sure about the "best" bit. im sure there are others that are better.
Or we are citizens that know welk enough to memorize our local laws for the most part. Past that have bookmarks for the official city, county, state, and federal websites on even your cellphone. That way if you are remotely unsure something is not above biard you can look it up instantly after photographing badges, as its not ilkegal anywhere to do that. Plus it's just a goid idea to know if you can call about the neighbors being obnoxiously loud at odd hours, like running a leaf blower at a quarter to seven AM. Personally i think it is only responsible to know all local ordinances, as well any law/s that affect you based on line of employment etc. Example my wife often leaves the country for work purposes so knowing everything I.C.E. Officers can and can not donis just a good idea. Not having a working understanding really is unwise. That said to chastise anyone for not knowing thier rights and local laws is just a tad messed up..
What law school did you attend? If you haven't perhaps you should consult a criminal law attorney before dispensing advice, or at the very least ask a cop.

if you are in Saudi Arabia, it's not recommended to do any of the tips on this video the police in SA lie ALL the time in court, and the judge is inclined to believe them because they oathed on the holy book
-CloudStrikesBack- They aren't a third world country economically, however they do reflect the characteristics of what most people would think of when they think "third world country" socially. This is what happens in theocracies. Absolutely disgusting.
LORD KHALID your comment helped stereotypical judgement. I have never seen police that need to feared such as in india. If you are alone, never stop if a police ifficer asks you.
It’s to either check if the trunk is secure when walking up on the vehicle, or to place prints on the vehicle in case the officer gets killed by the driver. If the vehicle is later dusted for prints, it would prove it had been stopped by that officer. It’s a macabre thing to think of, but it’s the same as telling a child to leave DNA and fingerprints everywhere they can if they’re kidnapped.
Yes that’s my point. The title is clickbait and the reason is already well known. Just google #endclickbait and you find a site making fun of clickbait titles by posting the answer at the top of the comments with the hashtag #endclickbait
A routine traffic stop IS a form of detention. As such you are only required to produce your driver's license, registration and proof of insurance, if asked. Beyond that, you are not required to answer ANY questions. The police will tell you that they are just making conversation. DON'T BELIEVE THEM!!! They are fishing for information to use against you. You need to formally invoke your right to have an attorney present before any further questioning. And you need to formally invoke your right to remain silent. And then REMAIN SILENT! Don't say ANYTHING no matter how innocent the question may appear. Remaining silent means just that. SILENT!
That is good advice, but you'll still have to deal with police. Sometimes the police will have a traffic stop, stopping everyone traveling in an auto down a certain road. Sometimes the police will stop a vehicle because the police think the vehicle is moving too slowly, but the driver is just following what they were told by his drivers education teacher. Or a police officer will stop a vehicle because the officer wants to commit a crime against the driver. Other things can happen that make a law abiding person deal with the police.
I was rear ended by an off duty police. The first person on the scene was an off duty police. Two other police came to the scene. I was knocked unconscious for over half an hour. The person who rear ended me refused treatment and was not given a breath-a-loser test. No pictures were taken and my wife was not called by any of the officers for two hours. After arriving at the hospital a nurse asked me if anyone called my wife. I did not know as I was in and out of consciousness. So she was the first to call more than two hours after the collision. My wife was very concerned she had called me several times with no answer. What do I do with this kind of police behavior?
Talk to a lawyer. And fight as hard as you can that's your life and your memory that those individuals just took from you . the whole system isn't bad but that isnt to say there arent bad people in the right job line . that's what happened to you ... Lucky for you a kind nurse made sure your wife was notified and if you could find that nurse and figure out around or even the exact time and gather all the information and names basically become a detective for a bit while working with you lawyer . Thats what you need to do . No one can replace those hours or fix the stress . only you can find the satisfaction in bringing the truth to light . So get to it man !
Just Kidding I have a fractured C2, deep tissue wounds on back of legs anove both calves, concussion and all the head trauma issues, 12 weeks short term dis., stiff neck brace. I"'ve been doing lots of research. You would think this case was a slam dunk. Attorneys don't want to take on police.
Why would they give him a pbt? If you were unconscious how do you know how much time passed? an accident and injuries ambulances come automatically. How far was the hospital? Did they have to cut you out of the car? Where was your phone? In the car or pocket? Do you have a passcode on your phone? When your wife calls does it say wife? Hipa laws prohibit telling people of injuries and treatment.
I've heard several stories about people putting in complaints about police. in every instance the person complaining was continually harrassed and basically bullied by other cops. ACAB
Obviously when driving yes, but if you aren't driving and haven't committed a crimes or suspected of commiting a crime, then you are not obligated to show any ID.

Mike Williams Show me where you MUST identify yourself and your address without having broken any laws.
Mehmed Tiro They're talking any OTHER questions. It varies by state law, what you have to tell them. But you do have to give your name.
If you are not driving, you are not required by law to tell the police ANYTHING including your name or address. You can simply state that you won't be answering ANY questions without legal council.
This may result in your being detained but it is your right.
You do have to give your name. Anything else you can refuse. Even if you're walking. You have to give a name if asked

Short answer: Just respect them and agree

Well how exactly is it messed up? Most people don't want to be homeless, and the law is probably there so there can be a home provided for the person. Unless the law just arrests them

a lot of homeless have some kind of mental issues. Staying calm is a problem for me. Whenever I see a police officer I get nervous even though I never did anything against the law.
Everyone does that because honest people rarely have police contact. The secret is; just comply with instructions and you'll be fine.
And it would help to tell the officer that. I have some disorders that make most situations difficult for me. I've never dealt with police officers up close but I do know from training that letting people know before hand of this can help people understand why your not calm
Only made it worse for me.
Maybe it will help you though.

*MOST?*

The police are not people.
Ok I'll just refuse to answer there questions and look more suspicious

ELK but can't they answer "the name is classified"?

You really need to remake this video to be specific about what country's laws you are talking about.

@@soroilo2003 Can't say you did not remain polite.
Congrats u hit 40M!!!
Questions to consider:
Do you really need a pen and paper for a 3-5 digit number?

#endclickbait to leave their fingerprints for proof in court.
AFishBicycle that's pretty much what he said... to be able to see that they have had contact with that person
And if the driver is on his way to a car wash and accidentally causes such fingerprint evidence to be washed away?
Lovely *Sylveron* what mistake?
You only have the right to remain silent during INTERROGATIONS. You are required to give things like drivers license and proof of insurance
SILENT!

Person Dude amazing answer

What do I do with this kind of police behavior?
nothing, the police are above the law and will always look out for themselves.

If a police officer randomly stops you on the street, you DO NOT have to tell them who you are or where you live.
If you're driving then you have to give them your drivers licence which has that information...
Obviously when driving yes, but if you aren't driving and haven't committed a crimes or suspected of commiting a crime, then you are not obligated to show any ID.
X thats not true
Doesn't matter which state. It's unconstitutional to do so.
