Another great video!!! Thank you! Also a seasoned seller (15 years) and have learned so much from your videos! I'm working on my store again after a 5 year break and I really needed your pragmatic encouragement today!!
Hey @caseywiggins8741 , I love that you're back in the game after resting for 5-years! Welcome back. The biggest change is that the TPT search algorithm switched to Algolia (in 2019), so TPT SEO has fundamentally changed. If you haven't seen this TPT SEO masterclass, it's a good place to start: ua-cam.com/video/Gwg7QUkYPno/v-deo.html Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you! It's a long game :) See you in the next comment. Cheers, Mike
Hi @cynthiavautrot5093 that's high praise indeed. After 14 years, you're definitely a seasoned seller! Not everyone who has been around that long is comfortable leaving a comment, so I appreciate yours. Are you still enjoying the journey? See you in the next comment. Cheers, Mike
Hey Yara, great to hear from you again! TPT has changed a lot hasn't it. And I imagine it will continue to evolve and change as they try to improve the TPT search algorithm to increase sales on the platform. Hope your Feb sale went well! See you in the next comment. Cheers, Mike
Hey @debhanson9016 - that's high praise indeed. Thanks for the feedback! I had a peek at your video: ua-cam.com/video/cfyg1leQBAQ/v-deo.html - that is so cool for something made in 2015! See you in the next comment. Cheers, Mike
Hey @eternal-student great to hear from you! Thanks for letting me know you liked the video. I've never taken a TPT Seller course before; I often wonder what they teach (and what they hold back in their freebies.) My squirrel brain can't remember that stuff, so my business model is to give away all of my TPT thoughts for free and sell affordable, high-quality seller tools. Hope your TPT sale went well. See you in the next comment! Cheers, Mike
Hey @KristensClassroom - thanks for thanking me. I view the world through a lens of anxiety, so I feel nervous wondering how this video would be received. Your comment lets me know there are TPT Sellers who find this info useful. So, thank you! See you in the next comment. Cheers, Mike
Hey @dawnmarie240 Thanks for leaving a comment. It was hard trying to come up with a way to present the data in an uplifting way. Thanks for letting me know it worked! See you in the next comment. Cheers, Mike
BEFORE DOING ANYTHING> Step 1: Focus on creating high-quality, practical teaching resources in multiple formats. The key to success on Teachers Pay Teachers is developing materials that teachers can implement effectively in their classrooms. Even if your resource initially ranks well in search results, poor usability or quality will lead to negative reviews. Once teachers have a disappointing experience with your materials, they're unlikely to purchase from you again. Additionally, negative feedback will significantly impact your resource's visibility and rankings on the platform. You're done. It's gameover. Remember that in the TPT marketplace, the ultimate measure of success is creating resources that genuinely serve teachers' needs and enhance their teaching practice. That's Step one. Nothing matters if your product is not usable...nothing. Mike....great video!!! You're doing great!!!!
Hey @cuatrojibaro - great to hear from you! That is so true. A negative review on a resource early in the game will definitely tank that resource. It's interesting. Your comments remind me of a fundamental assumption I'm making which is that the resource is high-quality and useful. I guess I'm thinking of the TPT seller who is a teacher and is selling resources that they use in the classroom that their students love. So they're battle tested, and then the paradigm shift is for that teacher to learn how to communicate the value of the resource (i.e. learn how to sell.) But you're right. There are lots of products on TPT that aren't great or useful. So having a quality product is important. Thanks for leaving a comment. Hope things are well! See you in the next comment. Cheers, Mike
Glad it was helpful! I think UA-cam ate my other reply. Question: if your business doesn't define you, then how do you define yourself? Lately I've been reflecting on Simon Sinek's "Start With Why" approach in my big picture planning. See you in the next comment! Cheers, Mike
lol thanks for the comment @teachinginfifthgear - making these UA-cam videos forces me to think about the information from multiple sides. Thanks for your pep talk to not overthink things! See you in the next comment. Cheers, Mike (When did you rebrand to "fifthgear" on your TPT store? When I first met you, I think you were "Teaching In Fifth Gear" (like your UA-cam handle).
@ I didn’t rebrand. I’m still fifth gear on TPT. Unfortunately Fifth Gear wasn’t available as a website so I went with teachinginfifthgear. So I’m both 🤣
Hey @rapoperacentral - I think in general these days, I'm trying to record shorter videos... but this one, I felt like it had to be one piece (because otherwise you might only see the data without the second part to put it in perspective.) Thanks for the comment! See you in the next one. Cheers, Mike
Hey stranger! I think for me, I'm learning that TPT is as secure as any other business (or life in general.) Things can change in completely unexpected ways. People in the PRO community have been reminding me to focus on things I can control. In TPT land, it really comes down to actions we can take (i.e. product creation, product updates, and bringing our own eyeballs to our products.) At any moment, things can change. (Hello, Covid...) Thanks for leaving a comment and letting me know it helped you to rethink TPT. See you in the next comment! Cheers, Mike
Hey @bethmitchbeth - is this your first comment? If so, welcome to the SEOTpreneur UA-cam community. I'm glad you liked the part about putting the data in perspective. How goes your TPT journey? Does anything change after watching this video? See you in the next comment. Cheers, Mike
Another awesome video, Mike! I will have to watch again and move slowly through the parts showing data, graphically! LOL As always, so informative and so insightful! Cheers!
Hey @learnwithpuzzles - I had a lot of fun tidying up the data and making the pretty pie chart. Have fun rewatching the parts with data! See you in the next comment. Cheers, Mike
I’m so impressed! If they had explained statistics like that in college, I would have been far more interested! Question: just to confirm, the keyword tool is a one time purchase on TPT, but the Self Service Data Tool is a yearly subscription that we can purchase directly from you, right? In other words, is the keyword tool included with the Self Service Data Tool Pro? Thanks a million!
Hey @heidibutkus - if only every statistics course was taught by a UA-cam microinfluencer! Edutainment is definitely a growing field. Sorry for the confusion will all of the tools and where to get them. I'm still trying to figure out how to communicate clearly where to find what. (And the names are so similar, that's not helping!) The PRO keyword tool seen in this video is separate from the keyword rank position tool (TPT Seller Tip 010) in the Ultimate Bundle: www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/TPT-SEO-Keyword-Rank-Position-Tool-TPT-Seller-Tip-010-Competitor-Update-11458757 TPT Seller Tip 010 only looks up where your product ranks for a specific keyword. It doesn't load the popularity scores. (There's an ongoing server cost for me to do that, so the PRO keyword tool that shows the popularity rank has to have a subscription model.) So if you want the PRO keyword tool seen in this video, it's a yearly subscription - either the "SEOTpreneur PRO" plan or the "Self Serve Basic + Tools" plan - both available from here: selfservedatatool.com/membership-levels/ "Is the keyword tool included with the Self Service Data Tool Pro?" Yes, as of recently the TPT Seller Tip 010 keyword rank position tool is now included in the PRO keyword tool. (Now that the cost of the SEOTpreneur PRO plan or the "Self Serve Basic + Tool" plans are higher than the cost of the TPT Seller Tip 010 resource on TPT, I can include it. TPT has a rule that states you can't sell the identical resource for a lower price on a separate platform.) The real question is why would you need the Ultimate Bundle from my TPT store if you have the annual subscription. The answer is there are tools in the Ultimate Bundle that are only available in the Ultimate Bundle. One of the best ones is this AI tool that I use regularly on my store and with clients to help us come up with words to put on our covers / product PDFs. Here's the AI tool: www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/One-Click-Product-Description-Assistant-AI-Tool-TPT-Seller-Tip-017-12385937 That's probably as clear as mud. Let me know if you have any questions. Hope vacation time is going well! See you in the next comment. Cheers, Mike
Great video - I am looking for the SEO tool you are showing around minute 17 (Pro keyword tool) that shows the popularity of trending keywords. Is that in the self-serve data tools on your website or in the ultimate bundle on tpt? thanks!
Hey @MargaretFeldmann the PRO keyword tool showing keyword popularity ranks is available in the "SEOTpreneur PRO" plan or the "Self Serve Basic + Tools" plan here: selfservedatatool.com/membership-levels/ It's not available in the TPT Seller Ultimate Bundle on my TPT Seller store because there are ongoing server costs to run that tool. Hey Tracy! I love that you responded to another TPT Seller here on UA-cam (mainly because I find their commenting system so confusing.) You're right. @SEOTpreneur the same did better than i thought it would, but I am still down from Jan at this point. However Jan was better than I thought it would be so I guess I'm right on track LOL

I'm here for the hockey analogies 🏒 😄
Likewise! They always hit. (Will not apologize for the pun 😄)

Some of my products can’t sell. I think TpT’s algorithm selects only top-reviewed products to show.
according to his other videos, they do sometimes change the algorithm
Have you tried doing keyword research to try to find keywords with higher volume, lower competition?
