KJ - The Pacifica wasn't a flop - it was one of the first Chryslers to share Mercedes Benz technology when they merged. I have a 2005 which is still going strong although some had reported transmission problems. I still see lots of them on the road after 10 years. I think marketing was slow because they were fairly pricey, but obviously you got what you paid for. And they were the original vehicle that started the cross-over trend.
I just don't understand the name change... I mean I've heard people say the Town & Country name was a turnoff but want the Pacifica a flop? it's a marketing thing but I don't get it... lol
It is a "re-do" of the Daimler-Chrysler Pacifica. All hope was placed on the Daimler-Chrysler Pacifica. However, history proved it was a hurried design, hurried built, and hurried to market by Daimler. A lot of mistakes were made because Daimler wanted it to market damn fast; too fast to work out the bugs and issues. It had a Daimler engine mounted to a Chrysler transmission, and also had overtly complicated mechanical systems ( a trait know to Daimler). During Fiat's control, there were tons of freely available Long Term Corporate Plans from FCA's website. These were intended for their shareholders and the public versions (from FCA's website) only had pictures and very little words (perhaps to prevent their competition knowing what they were going to do? Dunno.). FCA had plans in these documents to bring back the Pacifica, and here it is now. One thing fundamentally different, as I have researched, is that Fiat (Sergio M) said "...no more screw ups....we will make the best vehicles ever...etc..." to everyone at Chrysler. (He also ordered the Pentastar light back ON at CTC.) So, from all I have researched, it strongly appears that this Pacifica will have a much higher craftsmanship put into it, and a much higher reliability than the old one did. And in all honesty, styling is much better, too.
So glad that they got rid of the ugly shift lever from the last generation! That thing drove me crazy. Who the hell puts a shift lever on the dashboard?? The rotary knob is a little less unsightly.
Design is so passé if you compare this car to the 2007 Toyota Estima and the 2010 Toyota Alphard and also the 2015 Renault Espace plus the 2015 Toyota Alphard
i have a 06 pacifica, horrible, have to change motor mounts once a year, changed transmission at 55000 miles, front suspension, fuel pump was recalled but mine was not in that batch although i had the same problem that was recalled. Have a family member who had the same vehicle he caught on fire while driving on the highway. So for 2017 I’ll pass. I’m sure this car will be fine for the first 10-20,000 miles.
Stow and Go is terrible. A feature one uses so occasionally that does not justify the compromise in comfort, making the second row of any Dodge Caravan or Town & Country pretty much the worst in the whole automotive industry. Too bad you guys didn't go over that on this new car. Other makers realized that, and chose to offer real captain chairs on the second row.

I agree, it is not a Pacifica but a new Town and Country. Maybe they will pull a ford and change the name lol.

Who is this guy ? Why is he so handsome ?
they went with the name "Pacifica" to appeal to the largest U.S. Market, California drivers

It's gonna sale regardless of the name
Sienna and odyssey will be fighting for second place.

+Renato Barros Realllly!
+Renato Barros People like you make more stuff a pain in the ass I would rather have that that removing a whole freaking seat.
Nice video but you missed an awful lot of information.
Plastics look and sound very cheap.
