Shopping List:
3-4 lb chuck roast
1 packet ranch seasoning
1 packet au jus gravy mix
1/2 - 1 stick butter
4-8 pepperoncini peppers + 2 tbsps juice
1/2 quart beef stock
2 onions
1 head of garlic
rosemary and thyme
AP Seasoning
Slurry - 3 tbsps cold water and 3 tbsps corn starch to thicken gravy
Directions:
Allow roast to come up to room temp. Season generously. Heat dutch oven or skillet over high heat and add avocado oil. Sear meat on all sides for 2-4 minutes or until a nice crust develops - then remove. Discard any burnt oil and add in butter. Once butter melts, add in your flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add 1/2 of your beef stock and deglaze the pan. Add in garlic and mix to combine. Add onions and then add back in your roast. Mix in ranch packet and au jus gravy mix. Add peppers and some of the juice from the jar. Toss in a sprig of rosemary and cover with a lid. Place in a 350 degree oven for 3-4 hours or until the roast passes the fork test (should be fork tender and shred easily). Enjoy!

Hi in your shopping list you mention Rosemary and thyme but In instructions it only list Rosemary. I have made this Mississippi Pot Roast 3 time . The first I did just like one of the recipe for. The last two time I make I didn’t version of it. It’s so delicious I can’t eat enough of it. I cooked mine in the Instapot. I will try slow cooking in oven or crockpot next. There are so version of this recipe out there. I know the version of recipe try first it didn’t have enough seasonings. I love watching videos and you have great ideas.
@@ivanascott6809 thanks.. the herbs are optional really.. you can use rosemary, thyme, and bay leaves in any combination based on your personal preference
Why you steal a pepper? Lol
What temp and time in the oven?
@@rolla3001 325 for temp

Me too 😊😊😊
Pot roast snob here. My official rating: Holy Mother Of God. Nailed the blend of savory without being too salty, tenderness, and slight heat. We followed the recipe exactly and this will now be in our regular rotation. Pro tip: eat the garlic after it's done.
Ok the fork drop at the end was classic , this guy is a legend , and the pot roast looks amazing .
OMG!!!!! This roast is a whole entire "situation". I made it today for Sunday dinner, along with green beans, buttery mashed potatoes and hawaiian rolls. The roast was AHHH-MAZING!!!!
It's soooo flavorful, extremely tender and completely falling apart. The juices made the best gravy I've ever had and the pepperoncinis gave it a nice little kick, but not spicy at all. This is going to be my "go to" roast recipe forever. Thanks so much for sharing it .
Got mine going in the slow cooker and it smells unbelievable. My store was out of Ranch Seasoning, so used a “beefy onion” gravy mix in addition to the Au Jus mix. I can already tell it’s gonna be money! Thanks for all your work, and I’m a huge fan. I’ve made at least a dozen of your recipes and they are all pure magic.❤
I am trying this on Sunday to feed the Homeless at the Church after Service.
All of this guy's recipes look INCREDIBLE! I am ALWAYS in AWE of his technique and final presentation. Even more impressive for me is that he wears gloves during cooking. I'm big on sanitation and he definitely is on point all the way around in the Kitchen. He's kinda funny too he could definitely see him on television hosting a cooki ng show and interviewing various guests. He's a star!!
Just made this last night and it was absolute perfection!! Thanks for the easy gravy addition as well.
so good!
What kinda flavor did the peppercini give it
Was it salty
I know this is going to be good. It sure looks good in the thumbnail. I wish I had some pot roast right now.
Tried this 6 months ago and it's my go to pot roast recipe!! Turns out Perfect everytime!! Thanks!!
I love how detailed your explanations are, def feel like I can handle this one. Always been intimidated on making homemade gravy but this seems straightforward and simple.
I like to use equal parts of oil and flour depending on how much gravy I want to make. But can you really make too much gravy!! Once your flour is good and brown, pour HOT chicken broth in and whisk whisk whisk it. Then add garlic powder, black pepper and salt to your liking. I usually add some Cajun seasoning to mine like “slap ya mama.” Once it’s thick or thin enough to your liking. With the chicken stock be careful how much salt you add. Enjoy!
Made this w/o the ranch seasoning to save my blood pressure lol and it was AMAZING!!!!!!the absolute best I’ve ever made! Thank you so much!!!❤
Thanks for letting us know cause I can't find ranch seasoning in my area so I might try it this way.
Have you put the oven at 325F like in the video or 350 like in the description ?
And 1/2 cup of the pepperoncini vinegar liquid like in the video or 2 table spoon like written ?
And in the video he use chicken broth but it is written, beef broth. What have you use please.
Have you also put the AP seasoning at the beginning ? Cause I am in Quebec and don't have these.
Sorry for all my questions.
Thanks for the help!
I’ve made this pot roast before…but your version looks so much better 😊… perfect Christmas dinner
Love it. I appreciate how you use real culinary terms to describe things like, "fond," etc. I'm curious about your decision to use chicken broth over beef broth.
I noticed that too. Was that a mistake? Should have been beef broth since he listed it in his ingredients list.
I may not have made ‘this’ exact roast. However, I have learned SO MUCH about seasoning and browning meats..and..searing meats! I..was so proud of myself for searing the roast I am cooking right now! Made the the support ‘party’..added the roast back..back in the oven..for an ‘over night’ oven roast! I can’t wait for morning! Feels like..waiting on Santa!
Good Morning looking forward to seeing this. My daughter just informed me she wants pot roast for her birthday, which is Christmas
thank you!
I make this roast often and it has the best taste of any I have ever made. Yours look absolutely fantastic. Everyone that loves pot roast should try this recipe. You will love it! And it’s oh so simple
I've been making your other Mississippi pot roast for a while now. We absolutely love it, I see you don't add the flour in the beginning anymore. Ok I'll try this new method next time!
Love the blooper real at the end really wraps everything together and makes everything feel like a proper production
I use the same recipe you use except I put the roast in a crock pot on slow cook for 7-8 hours. Yummy!!!!
🎉 Looks like this will be on the table for my son's Birthday Christmas Dinner. 🎄🎶
The kind you cook with not the kind that will cook you😂 thanks for their delicious roast video! Can’t wait for make it. Great contest as always
I don’t make my roast any other way now since I discovered the recipe on Pinterest, but I use Lipton Beefy Onion soup packet instead of au jus, and I just leave that sucker in the crock pot. My niece requests it all the time. It’s hella good 💪🏾
Hands Down The Best Pot Roast I’ve ever made ❤ . My man loved it 😊
Man!! That was the best looking pot roast I ever seen. I’m totally gonna make that. The only thing you forgot was fresh buttered white bred. So effin good!!!!!
Made this for Christmas dinner and it turned out amazing! Lots of flavor…definitely a make again meal!
Totally making this for Christmas dinner. Thank you for your amazing recipes as always 👍💜

I love making MS roast! I serve mine over wild rice or yellow rice and it is 🤌🏻 chefs kiss
It’s a slam dunk! Love it! Thank you for this recipe! 😊
I did this last night and it was the most flavorful dish! My family loved it!!! Another in the books! Thank you 🙏🏽 you never fail me! ❤
I make this in the crockpot all the time and it is so good!
I lost the UA-cam video to the pot roast I like to make, UA-cam is crowded with this packet pot roast so much so I can't find the regular one. So I'll give it a try..... Finally found someone doing the recipe on the stovetop. Being I don't have a croc pot this is great can't wait to try the peppercini creation 😭🔥
Lord Have Mercy!!! You did that! Not only does it look DELICIOUS but easy. I'm making this for Sunday dinner this weekend. 😋 Thank youuuu Mr. Make It Happen!
🎉I’m cooking mine for New Years 🎉, can’t wait🍴
OMG!! Made this last week and family loved it. Will be making it again tomorrow. Hubby cannot wait. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
Listen I used 4 of your thanksgiving recipes and I SET IT AWFFFFF!! You are amazing! Thank you❤
I made this today it was amazing! I did add some beefy onion soup mix as well because I like it
Mr. Make it Happens always makes it happen!!! Thank you!!!
Loved this!!! Nice and simple, yet straight forward instructions. Had to subscribe! Can’t wait to try this! ✅👍🏽
Made this for Christmas and 10/10 would recommend.
I had to come back to say not only did I make this, but it was easy AND delicious! Definitely the best roast I’ve ever made. Will definitely be adding this to my collection. Thank you!
Great minds think alike I’m making Mississippi pot roast Mac and cheese green beans and honey cornbread I used everything you did but I added carrots and celery with potatoes to mine and I use beef bouillon base
yummmm lemme get a plate lol
How did it turn out
I'm making this right now and it smells amazing. Can't wait to dig into the final product. Thanks for this recipe @MrMakeItHappen
I love this guy when he tasted the food
I keep garlic and use for roasted garlic mashed potato
I'm definitely going to make this. Thank you for sharing your delicious recipe.
That looks incredibly delectable. Definitely making this. Thanks for the recipe.
This looks FANTASTIC!! Gonna have to make this ASAP! I just made your orange chicken today LITERALLY the BEST I HAVE EVER Made (the chicken batter/breading doesn't overwhelm the pieces, crispy and extra light) the orange sauce, OMFG! ROCK ON ROCKSTAR!! Git' that kitchen on!!
Mezetta makes a jar of sliced peperoncinis that'll dissolve like diced onions if you don't like em whole with the stems
I haven't had Papa John's in years but I always loved those pepperoncinis they give with the pizza. I will for sure make this next time I make pot roast. Only I wish I had it in front of me right now. I like to eat pot roast with some good buttered bread.
You have no idea how much I wish I could eat your food everytime you post a video. 🥰
❤️❤️
This is definitely a go to favorite holiday dish. Always done with such loving perfection.
I love it when you drop the fork!
This is the recipe I’ve been making lately and it’s so good. Made mine in a crockpot. It’s my go to now.
Did u cook it on high or low and for how long?
@@Ctwosrer I cook mine on low for at least 8 hours.
Looks amazing! You stated chicken broth in the video, and beef broth in the ingredients. Did you use beef broth?
I love Mississippi pot roast my cousin made it for me last year while I was on leave after having my baby…so so so good!
I used a pork roast instead and it still turned out amazing. A winner in my household
Gonna have to try this in the cast iron Dutch oven I just got. One thing I’d add in the last 45-60 mins of cooking - before thickening the gravy - is some quartered potatoes, unpeeled new white.
That looks so amazingly good enjoy May the lord continue to shine on you your family love ones and viewers have a joyful day
I LOVE THE BLOOPERS/OUTTAKES AT THE END 👍🏾😆
I made this along with your mashed potato recipe and it was absolutely DELICIOUS. I will only make my post roast this way going forward.
As a side note, I only seasoned my chuck roast with black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. No extra salt was added outside of the salt contents in the ranch packet and au jus gravy packet. Flavor was on point.
Also, I peeled my head of garlic so that I wouldn’t have to discard it since I love garlic. Awwww, this was so good.
AYYYYYY QUE RICO!!! I'm trying this recipe! Thank you for sharing!🤩
This looks so tasty and flavorful -- I can't wait to try it!
Excellent presentation and great recipe thanks for sharing your time and recipe
I make a pot roast for my daughter a couple times a year. I’ve been meaning to try this version and I’m so happy to see your vid! My mouth is watering and I don’t even eat red meat! LOL. Keep up the good work…and I need try some Lemon Bay as soon as you have it!
it should be back in stock within a week or so!
Good Morning Chef MIH,
What a really good looking dish....that I must try 😋 ☺️ I have cooked pot roast before but this is a different style of cooking 😋 Thanks 🥰
I made this today and it is AMAZING!!!!
Hey Mr make it happen ,I love roast beef, and yours look so ,so good 😋😋😋👍👌👍👌great job can’t wait to try it ✌️

It looks so mouth watering delicious! I am so ready to make this. Thanks!!
I love the bloopers at the end! This looks so good!
Great Recipe!!! Whole family loved it!
Hello Mr. Make it happen came across your channel a couple of months ago I enjoy your videos enjoy you cooking merry Christmas
Making this right now, can’t wait to eat it
Bro I love your channel! Every recipe I’ve tried from you been A+! Happy Holidays Bro !
Highly recommend Mr. MIH All Purpose (AP) seasonings. I’ve tried all 3 and they are absolutely the best. I’ve made 4 purchases so far increasing my bottle count each time 😀. AP seasoning is a great gift for your family cook or for that person in your family that is afraid to season their food.
thank you!!! I appreciate the review
I want some Lemon Bae!!!
Can you post a Standing Rib Roast before Christmas?
Yes please!!! I’m thinking of making it for Christmas dinner. I know you’ve done one before, but that was before we had the AP Seasoning. Since a prime rib roast ain’t cheap (especially this year)I’d like to see you do it so that I don’t mess it up. Thanks.
@@hildat8 That's why I would like to see it too. It's way too expensive to risk screwing it up!
@@brendahenderson683 you got that right! 😂😉
I'm going to try this!! So we can use either beef or chicken broth? In video it states chicken broth but in recipe its beef.
Good afternoon chef happy soulful Sunday this looks amazing 😍😍😍 you are a beast in the kitchen 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💯💯💯
Looks juicy and tender 😋. I cooked pot roast for New Year's dinner. Wish I knew about the pepperoncinis. Thanks!
It’s in the slow cooker right now! Merry Christmas 🎄
Just made this today. Omg soooo good! The family love it!
I just looked up one of your pot roast recipe yesterday being so I'm making it today for Sunday dinner
That roast looks so good. I can't wait to try this recipe.🔥🔥🔥🔥
I made this recipe I had to replace the peppers with jalapeños deal worked. Oh my goodness it’s the best pot roast I’ve ever made. My plan was simple make it early on Christmas day. Take it over to Mom‘s house and have leftovers for the next day. I know there will be no leftovers.
Delious!!! Pretty easy too...Probably need a nice heavy dutch oven like you used...
Made this last night, was amazing ty sir
Thank you, Mr. Make It Happen for this VERY DELICIOUS recipe! The roast is extremely tender and moist. The flavor was perfection. I used Waygu Chuck Roast, which added to the tenderness. Please keep the recipes coming!
I make Mississippi pot roast all the time. I can’t wait to try this version.
Made this tonight. Wife said it was the best pot roast she ever had. 🔥 🔥 🔥
Definitely on the menu for this week
Awesome video!! Love your channel..
I’ve needed to see a pot roast recipe for years. Thanks Matt. This is the one. Not sure about the pepperocini’s but imma trust you on this! Until I saw them I thought you said you were adding pepper cheese! 😂
they don't make it spicy, I promise... so good!
I've made this one and it's not overly spicy. The pepperoncini juice amount makes a difference in spice level, I just added 1/4 c. juice and 8-10 peppers.
And yes it's a fork drop.
Looks great but curious, why chicken broth and not beef broth @5:47?
Same question. Thank you.
Right, in the receipe it says beef so that's what I'll use.
I really appreciate your blooper reels it's tough being correct all the time 😆
Fabulous on my list to make this week! Thanks!
💯 agree this is waaaaaay better than the classic😋🙏🏿😊
Great recipe. I've done a similar one in the crock pot.
Looks delicious.. specially a day like today!! Thank you for the recipe I will try it!! 👍👍👍👏👏👏👏♥️♥️
perfect timing
@@MrMakeItHappen .. and you, my friend are an awesome chef!! Thank you for sharing..🥰🥰🥰🥂🥂🥂👏👏
Bro , this looks amazing..! I noticed the roast is from Harris teeter,so you must live in NC,or SC..I'm in Charlotte..!
I'll be making this today
