I’ll never forget how he put the city of milwaukee in his back and carried us to our first playoff appearance in almost 30 years. I was 9 years old at the time and I remember crying my eyes out with joy when we beat the cubs and made the playoffs on the final day. It was absolute magic, best memory of my young life
Faced him in a national tourney when we were both 17. He was so amazingly dominate, I truly questioned if I i had any business calling myself a pitcher even though I was already signed to Gardner Webb U on a very nice baseball scholarship. Was relieved to find out not long after that we had faced a future legend of the game.

CC is a local legend in Vallejo. Still gives back to the community, and is a standup guy. Man deserved this career, and he’s such a good person.
CC’s time in Milwaukee is when I started watching baseball. Him, Rickie, Braun, Fielder, and Hardy were like my hero’s growing up. Thanks to all of them and you for reminding me
My favorite thing about CC is how great of a teammate he was. There was a game in 2018 against the rays. One of the rays pitchers threw at catcher Austin Romines head and hit him. CC despite being 2 innings shy of a bonus in his final start of the season retaliated by throwing at the rays Jesus Sucre, getting himself ejected. That will forever stick my head. He could’ve made himself something like an extra half a million dollars but he wanted to stick up for his teammates. I absolutely love that and have the utmost respect for CC
I really appreciate your use of a Bob Wickman clip as you mention that his team was full of "fun dudes doing cool stuff." When I think of fun dudes doing cool stuff, Bob Wickman is always one of the first people into my mind.
I'm from across the pond, so I'm not too familiar with all of the places. Had to pause the video to listen to the Cleveland song and boy, was I in for a treat. Since I only got into actually watching the games a few years back, this kind of videos helps me a lot to learn about the game and some of the legends who played it. Now I hope to get to look at both of Cleveland's buildings one day. Thank you for your hard work!

But please let me caution you....I took a business trip to Cleveland in 2006. It was an international conference of engineers, analysts, etc.
I couldn't walk 2 blocks without being confronted with bums and beggars - that's Cleveland. Any American city with Democrat mayors, to be honest.

I loved watching CC when he was here in Milwaukee. Running 2 aces in CC and Ben Sheets (when he didn't have blister problems) out there was so fun to watch. He'll always be beloved here, despite him only being a short-term rental.
Went to game 1 of this year’s alds between the yankees and Cleveland. CC threw the first pitch and the roar of the crowd when announced he was coming out rivaled Judge and Nestor’s. Always a class act and will always be beloved by the baseball community

My earliest memory of the guy was in 2003 when Bernie Williams made his return from the DL. I remember he even walked a batter with a bases loaded.

i cant watch that exit man. shit makes me cry to this day. hes the single most influential pitcher for me i have ever witnessed, and is my all time favorite pitcher next to Andy. im very glad he was able to throw out the first pitch and i hope we win a ring for him this year

My memory of CC Sabathia that stands out upon first seeing him play on TV as a Yankee fan at the previously named Jacobs Field was he was of course 20-21 years old at the time yet the guy who took over for him was Paul Shuey if I'm right. CC turned out to be fine with us for sure, yet in that 2001 weekend game against CC and his Cleveland Indians, Shuey's first 9 pitches were all balls!!!

CC’s run In Milwaukee was must watch tv every start. So dominant! Should’ve had a no hitter too! They guy pitched on three days rest down the stretch just to get us into the playoffs. Absolute legend.
I feel like it’s casual baseball fans that don’t remember him well. I remember him being a beast in Cleveland and Milwaukee before he became a Yankee. Those of us that saw him know how great he was and he’s definitely getting a plaque in the hall. First ballot? Don’t know because of the way things are (especially lately) but he’ll get in for sure.
I live in Milwaukee. The 2008 team was the best shot the Brewers had at winning a World Series. They had a young prime Ryan Bruan and Prince Fielder with pitchers Ben Sheets and Giavanni Gallardo. When the Brewers got Sabathia, it seemed that was the right player needed to push the Brewers into the postseason and CC was amazing the rest of the season. Sadly the Brewers closer was injury prone so Sabathia pitched most innings in the games he played and yes he was worn down by the postseason. Seeing CC leave and a couple years late Prince Fielder was very sad.
I miss 2007 too! MLB power pros was my introduction to baseball and I'll always love that season because of it

I still respect the hell out of him for nearly pitching his arm off in a contract year to will Milwaukee to the playoffs. He easily could've just coasted to an average season and still gotten paid based on past stats, but he went out there seemingly every other day and set Milwaukee for some sustained success over the past 15 years.
One of my favorite Yankees of all time…one of the rare guys u could count on to go out and shove every 5 days no matter what.

My first memory of CC was when he was with the Indians and he hit a 410 ft home run down the right field line in dodger stadium.
Josh Beckett should have won that 2007 Cy Young. Oh well, he dominated The Tribe and rest rest of the competition that post-season en route to the 2007 WS title! the mention of his post-season struggles reminded me of my old jingle - Choke Choke is a joke!
He led BOTH leagues in shutouts in 2008. He threw a no hitter against the Pirates on 8/31, a game that I attended, however the terrible official scorer decided the first hit of the game for the Pirates should be on a comebacker to the pitcher which CC bobbled and dropped. Another interesting tidbit, in an insane decision, Mark Teixeira was rated as the #1 free agent in the 2008 offseason with CC rated #2....right after CC just carried a team into the playoffs by himself...and the compensation pick the Angels got for losing Tex they drafted Mike Trout with. We'll never know, but Brewers GM Doug Melvin did claim the Brewers would have taken Trout with that pick.

I grew up aware of C.C., but kind of underwhelmed by his career. His ERA was too high to be an ace in my book. I never got why so many people thought he was great. This was an awesome video, and I get it.

Sad to see good ball players get forgotten. I remember always trading for him in 2k5 or mlb 07 the show. The only time I can see him was if the dodgers ever played the Indians(pretty much never) the ASG and this week in baseball was the best baseball show easily. I feel like a comparable pitcher to Sabathia is (or was) Madison Bumgarner. Although he has fallen off the map since 2016, he has had the same "workhorse" nature to him as CC did.
