Just installed a ThermalRight Contact Frame along with a ThermalRight Peerless Assassin on a Gen 8 Legion 7 Tower (13700KF/4070Ti) Worked like a charm. Lost between 8-11c over 4 TimeSpy Extreme tests. They both work. well. Air cooling has come a LONG way. It can still peak a bit too high at times, and I've barely tinkered with XTU. Nothing I'll throw at it for some time will ever come close to that. Only benchmarks. For any game I've thrown at it (20+ so far, from Quake 2 to MK1 to Starfield) I believe the highest I've seen is about 85c during heavy, heavy loading etc. And that quickly disappates. Happy camper, and not much $ spent. The Legion had a decent Air Cooler from factory, but this TR AC and Contact plate provides good headroom. Looks good too.

Is this more a problem for air cooling? I get the impression from the creator's video that liquid cooled systems have this problem also.
I'm new to this generation of Intel CPUs, I've mostly played with older 8th gen CPUs and Xeon workstations. I bought my first gaming system yesterday, an open box I7-13900KF and so far I'm not seeing the problems of high temps when stressing the system. I have it working at 100% in the other room encoding a 4k video in Handbrake using all CPU and no GPU encoding, it's showing 60C average with peak at 70C. It's showing 200W power draw from my UPS. So far it seems pretty on par for all CPU encoding 4k that my old HP z840 with dual E5-2680s (28 cores, 56 threads), both seem to be encoding a 2hr:15min 4k video in about 2hrs, a little more than 30 FPS in encoding.
I did buy the gaming system vs building one myself because the price was right for what came with it. It's one of those ASUS ROG G16s prebuilts that came with an RTX 3070 8G GPU. It also came stock with liquid CPU cooling from ASUS, a 240mm radiator with dual 120mm fans and it seems to be staying pretty cool. Could it be ASUS just has the settings turned down to I don't have the high temps? The CPU does show running 100% most of the time for all the cores. Outside of the radiator fans pulling out of the case, there's only one 92mm case fan pulling air out of the system.
I see a lot of these socket 1700 frame videos all over YT. Am I just lucky not seeing those temps?
i7-13700k owner here and I put one of these on and thermals were so much better. Used to go straight to 100°C with benchmarks and now I’m seeing averages in the 70’s. Some of it was the thermal paste application but this helped tremendously and I will recommend it anyway because it evenly distributes pressure from the cooler.
I've used contact frames when I got my first LGA1700 CPU. An i7-12700k. I watched the reviews on the three frames that Gamers Nexus reviewed. The Thermalright frame came out on top. Been using the Thermalright frame ever since. No problems using them. Cheers all
What I don't understand is Intel and AMD have used this same retention bracket design for almost 30 years now and all of a sudden it is a problem...
Maybe coz the shape changed, which change the mechanical force distribution. Entirely possible.
@@ghostofk2 It's a marketing gimmick and new kind of craze which will go away within a year or two. I'm saying this because I am using i7 13th Gen with Air cooler and the that works just fine even in heavy load.

With msi board find "cpu lite load" setting in bios and change it from auto to 8 or 9. Dramatic difference on my 13600k and no performance loss
I did same thing and got a big temp drop.. Ive even run it down to 6 without issues but I keep it at 8. Keeps it from hitting 100C.. I have same CPU..

I had same problem with my i5-13600kf. My bequiet! Dark Rock 4 did have huge problems cooling down my CPU. While using 3DMark tests my CPU skyrocked to 100c and I made a post where someone told me a fix!
The fix was "Go into the BIOS and change your CPU Lite Load setting from the default 12 to 8 or even 1. Lowered my volts a good amount at 8. Much lower volts and overall heat with no hit to performance."
I changed mine to 1 and it fixed it! Right now idle around 43,1c (50% fan speed, very silent) with chrome + 6 tabs and runescape open.
And while playing Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart on high settings my GPU 2080 Ti hit around 70c and CPU around 60c. During benchmark test it hit a max of 75c instead of 100c. I haven't stress tested it for longer period of time because I haven't had a reason to. Benchmark results from my CPU came back as around average so no drop in performance.

EDIT: I did a Cinebench R23 throttling test and i hit a maximum of 86c but ended up with a BSOD at 8 minute. I might have to set my CPU Lite Load higher, for more voltage, but also higher temperature. Also ordered a Thermalright Contact Frame and hopefully it can even out the higher temperature from increasing the voltage.
This is a great idea but I’m very skeptical about it not having any effect on the performance. Is there links or anything proven that it doesn’t decrease the CPU’s ability?
Si tienes una placa base MSI, actualízala y quita CPU litle load por el intel defaul, despues has el undervolt de manera manual, tendras que encontrar el mas estable para ti entre 0,050 o 0,080 incluso 0,1 en el viltaje offset de -CPU después en el PL1 y PL2 yo he situado máximo 190W con eso tengo un pc estable con buena nota en cinebench y con una temperatura máxima en verano de unos 85 grados en cinebench. Estoy pensando en sumarle este cambio tambien, pero he tenido CPU lite load y el undervolt manual y prefiero de manera manual los Vcore bajan bastante mas y evitan en mayor medida el problema de la degradación.
@@allcore5172 si, siempre afecta en el rendimiento, pero si consigues hacer undervolt manual, el rendimiento se vera afectado en mucha menor medida, incluso puedes llegar a hacer OC y aumentar el rendimiento dado que muchas veces bajas la temperatura de manera que se puede exprimir mas el procesador, el problema a dia de hoy es que es obligatorio ese undevolt si no quieres quemar el procesador por lo que si o si algo pierdes, pero si buscas la mejor configuración, la perdida será inapreciable.
Just a side suggestion. The frame itself acts as a heatsink while also preventing paste overflow so perhaps see how much of the frame is covered by your coolers cold plate and apply a layer of paste beyond the IHS on the frame to create additional thermal contact and to spread the heat away from the CPU. Give it a try.
If you look at the CPU die underneath the IHS, the die is about 10mm from the far edges of the IHS. 10mm of RAW copper is a far for the heat to migrate, considering the heatsink that's sucking heat out rapidly as the distance from the die grows. This positive cooling affect is 99% because of better CONTACT with the center of the IHS.
This is actually a great idea man I’m sure it would help.
Perhaps you may need to consider your build has other issues. Maybe the case airflow is poor, or your cooler isn't performing as well as it should be. I hit 92-93°C in Cinebench, stock clock, no undervolt. I was then able to undervolt 0.1mV and bump BCLK to 103MHz with no stability issues in Battlefield 2042. Now, my hottest core barely touches 80°C in Cinebench R23.
lol i used -0.115v on my 13900k and i bearly reach 60C with NZXT N120 two fans. now i use kraken elite 360 and i dont get abouve 60c with stock settings.

It's bizarre that Intel overlooked this issue in the design but glad 3rd parties have been able to put out a simple device to rectify it.
I hear it’s because the 1700 socket was rushed. However, if I’m spending this amount on a platform, an extra £9 won’t hurt😂
Nothing bizarre about it..Intel and AMD have used this same bracket for almost 30 years now.
Wasn't a problem in deforming the cpu before because the chips were smaller. 12th+ gen has gotten long.
I have a 13600kf cpu with a peerless assassin cooler. Installing a contact frame has dropped my temps in cinebench from 78C to 70C. It's worth the cost and I think intel should adopt these types of frames and include them with their next cpus.
To be honest, I wasn't even that concerned about the temps because I undervolted my 13900k as soon as I first booted my system, but it's a nice side effect indeed
What is most important to me is that the cpu won't bend in the near future lol

funny i think there is another issue since most people who have done the testing on this saw a only a 3 degrees maybe 7 if your lucky . i believe had hardware or even installation is more likely
The trick to this is limiting the watts used to 125 and set the thermal limit to 90c. I know it sounds crazy, but try it. I am now getting 30000 on cinabench, and the temps don't go over 90.
doesnt sound good on paper. maybe you were hitting the 100c thermal throttle and your benchmark scores were affected. I pull 200 watts and max out on 90c with an air cooler.

From reviews I've being watching, they can keep it as 80 C with a "basic" 360 AIO. This video of your where it reaches 100 scared me now. I wont even accept 90. I would totally undervolt/clock it to never let it reach that temps. Thanks for the video bro!

i dunno mate im on 13900kf with a z790 board and i have an insane amount of airflow (in the right config). The case is cool asf, all other components are, but the water cooled cpu runs hotter than expected (even though safe at 100c) so i think mebe in my case i overtightened the aio and could have some bend. feck.
Hmm... my 13900K CPU core temps sits at 91-92 running 10 min of Cinebench R23. The CPU Package and Core Max hits 99-100, and shows throttling on 4-6 of P-cores, so obviously it's up against the limit often. But f your 13700K is easily hitting 100, maybe it's your cooling solution?
With a .05 undervolt and 5.5 overclock on all p-cores and adding the contact frame, temps never pass 74c on cinebench with corsair h170i and thermal grizzly kryonaut(spread method). Before adding the frame it was at 79c max. So it does make a difference, also just by seeing what the thermal paste looks like on the cpu before the frame you can see why you need it.
Mounted this on i7 14700k combined with an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240 and Msi PRO B760p. The heat difference is minus 2-3 degrees. For example in Myth of Empires i hit almost 100 degrees during loading and the ambient temperature is 20 degrees
Installed the CPU Contact Frame by der8auer, Thermal Grizzly don't over tighten the contact frame. My Noctua Cooler is what holds everything together with the contact frame and I did get better temps with the contact frame over stock intel frame.
The Intel bending phenomenon has been just that...hearsay. I have so far had four. And I never put contact frames on them. I would bet Intel knows what they are doing after decades of development. Plus these void your warranty so there's that.
@@pcxdroneNo reason to think that this will void your warranty, and the results of using a contact frame are well-documented. They do work astonishingly well. Gamers Nexus does contact testing to clearly show where the cooler meets the IHS. With 1700 CPUs, full contact is not established. With the use of a contact frame, it is.

Huge improvment also statment that " Intel knows what they are doing after decades of development" is kinda goofy how can you ignore bending procesors with this intel frame. Like man they have the shitiest loud stock cooling. Intel is not the same company

The Thermalright contact frame works like a charme in my ASRock Z690 Steel Legend/D5 + 13600KF system with an Arctic LFII 120 Push/Pull (a larger radi doesn't fit in my case) + Arctic MX-6. It keep my system cool enough + quiet at Cinebench R23 never get over 88°C, no UV what so ever.
I would definitely look into fettling BIOS settings, I bet a couple setting changes would make a bigger difference than the frame would! TVB might be fun to play with

@user-mk4or5yu9r This is the issue. Some of the CPUs will bend over time. Not only that, but the contact is uneven resulting in poor cooling for certain cores. 2 of my cores are always 8c higher than the rest, which can be mitigated with this bracket. Got one ordered and am super excited to see how it will change the results. Possibly being able to push the CPU more as temps will be more even.
@user-mk4or5yu9r I hope it goes well! Not every cpu IHS does bend, though I think it's worth doing if you feel confident you can do it properly. Gamer's Nexus has 2 great videos on how to do it. I watched those and it seems fairly easy. Just gotta do it very cautiously and with a lot of patience. Without over tightening. Just right up to the hard wall where force has to be used, and maybe even pull it back a few mm.
@@JamieR Assuming you went through with it, how's your temps now? My AIO (Arctic LFii) is not cooling my 13700k very well so I've been looking at other ways to reduce temps and was considering a contact frame. Just don't want to spend the $$ if it won't help compared to just undervolting/fan curves. I heard they can cause issues like BSODs if not installed correctly so I'm curious how it went for you.
Check your motherboard settings, they run 12/13/14th gen CPU's with power limits disabled by default which is the issue - motherboards set the "limit" to 4096W which essentially is unlimited and just lets the CPU pull as much power until it thermal throttles, jayztwocents has a newish video on it released 5 days ago.
My Gigabyte board let my 14700k pull 330w until it throttled at 100c, the Intel spec calls for 253w. After setting the power limit to "Intel POR" in my BIOS, it now draws 253w at full load and hits 77c without a contact frame, after fitting the frame it's down to 72c.
No idea why motherboards ignore Intel spec out the box, I know they're "unlocked" CPU's but 100c thermal throttling by default is dumb.

Hi. I bought same motherboard for 13700k. Was I wrong?
I recently got a blue (actually turquoise) Thermalright CPU frame to put in a newly purchased PC (i7 12700) after reading lots of reviews and chatter about the potential for bending the CPU. I simultaneously replaced the stock Intel cooler with the minimalist (single-stack) Thermalright Assassin X 120 R-SE. Since I mounted the cooler horizontally (air blowing from bottom to top), I can still see the top part of the turquoise CPU frame peeking out over the top of the cooler stack. 😁 I haven't done any rigorous tests, but subjectively the temp numbers seem to be lower.
I used that same one back when I built a 12700k back in December of 2022 for my daughter. I used the Corsair h100i. I removed that stock thermal paste and used the thermal grizzly kryonaut. I wasn’t messing around. Im really debating on putting the thermal grizzly krosheet. It’s working well on my personal build with a 5950x
You need to adjust lite load in bios.. the default is 12 which is WAY to high.. most of these new gen CPU's running hot is the bios settings by default are garbage... I dropped 10C dropping lite load to 6 from 12 and my cinebench scores were identical.
i use a 12700F cpu. When i've installed first time and the cooler was properly fixed, i saw something strange, the cooler had a lot of movement with the screws tighten at maximum, so i've removed the cpu locking mechanism and i've put the cooler directly over cpu. The only thing what keep the cpu in place is the cooler. I didn't knew at that time about contact frames.
you undervolted too much if you saw the bsod. after you undervolt, make sure you stress test it until its stable
I did, using Cinebench R23. However, Battlefield 1 would cause a BSOD while loading maps consistently. That's where I found out the undervolt wasn't a good one.
No need for this with my 13600KF the temperatures are fine. 35c idle and 75c on high process loads on average using a Phantom Spirit air cooler.
I do have a question, should you put a very small amount of thermal paste on the outer edge of the CPU aluminum to help transfer the heat to the The Thermarlight plate.
No the heat is dissapated through the IAO or normal cooler as the IHS is higher then the contact frame. So no paste there as there is no need to.
Did you sort out your temperature issues yet? There's a common issue of MSI motherboards increasing voltage depending on the cooling option you select. Selecting "water cooled" is usually the cause. I have a MSI PRO Z790-A WIFI and don't have this issue, perhaps because it's newer or because the latest BIOS isn't set to increase the voltage like that. I have a 13600K so I can't draw a direct comparison, but I do know that some motherboards were pushing these CPUs to 1.4V and beyond. Didn't happen for me. In fact, I've slightly overclocked mine and still don't reach 100C because I'm maxing out at 1.2V.
TL:DR; I recommend looking at the cooling option you selected in BIOS. If you have it set to water cooler, try changing that to tower cooler. There is a very good chance that this will fix things.
Intel didn't intend for these CPUs to run at such high voltages; it's the motherboard manufacturers that decided to do this.

built my pc with a contact frame, 13700K cpu and used a chromamax air cooler. all stress tests stayed below 85C. i do not overclock, no need for it.
13th gen runs hot, but that plant pot partially covering one of AIO fans isn't helping either. Also, the back of the case looks pretty obstructed by walls/TV
im running the Asus Rog Strix Z690-E with a 12700k @5.6ghz on P cores and 4.2Ghz on e cores my temps barely touch 80c with a 240mm Aio maybe decrease ur voltage or check gamers nexus guild on installing the contact frame
Hey man, I personally have an i7-14700k with 7900 xtx (450W phantom edition) So much higher load / wattage than you so Im wondering, how is that possible ? I am not going over 60-65 on medium-high to max load. And my fans don't hit 100% until 72+ too .
my only assumption is your cooling since your aio and airflow dont seem to be that optimal. I have a shitty case, but it has an arctic 360 and it has been phenomenal .

You probably have limits in your bios setting it lower then it can run. His is maybe unlimited as a lot of Asus bioses have that. I have a 14700KF wich can hit up to 100c if i set no limits. I have a small undervolt now wich makes it not reeaching higher then 93c in Cinebecnh loop for 10 mins. My score is 35600 points in that run. I am sure your will not hit that high if your temps are that low.
I am using the Corsair 360 AIO the H150i elite capellix xt. And today i will get the H150i elite lcd xt wich is on top of the best AIO regarding low temps under load. I konw the arctic is also very good depending wich one you have but these Corsairs are even a little better. So that temps you said is impossible even with delidding the IHS and direct die contact under R23 load.
I am curious what score your r23 is multi. single i hit almost 2200 and multi 35600 after 10 min run.
Hello, mate. I think your problem is - bad settings in BIOS. Your CPU consumes too much power. I have 13600kf, same therlmalright contact frame and 240mm water cooling (Gammax LE 520). CPU is not overclocked and in stress tests runs at 5.1 GHz with no problem, reaching only 80 degrees celsium max, consuming 160 Watts.
Bought one for my 12900k. Running at 5.3. Put the same frame on mine. Got 18c better temps straight away. £7.09 got the silver one amazon.
For £7 it's an amazing deal to drop a whole 18C!
This is simply my opinion. I used the Thermal Grizzly frame. Now that is one amazingly well machined product. I just believe you always get what you pay for. Those feet on that Thermalright frame gave me immediate pause. It's a shortcut, If you're comfortable with that, ok. I wasn't. My temps using the ROG Ryujin III AIO on Maxximus Dark Hero and 14900KF are 10 degrees cooler that the EKWB open loop it replaced. I also used de baurs (Thermal Grizzly) Graphene pad (spelling?). No paste. Fantastic.
But again, I believe you get what you pay for. This could be a great budget substitute but in my opinion it's just that. Number 2. But stills appears to do the job well enough.
I agree. But I'm on a budget, so.... do what ya gotta do to trim the fat so to speak. I straight skimped on the neat lighting, so I could get better parts. Was even willing to mod my case so I could have a bluray burner drive, cause a case with a full sized drive bay AND cools well is rather expensive.
Sony straight deleting digital media from the PS5 owner's hard drive taught me to always have a physical backup in SOME form.
Apparently according to Intel this will void your warranty. So if you do this be careful.
I am receiving my contact frame tomorrow if all goes well. The same brand as yours but also with coolpaste from thermalright tf7 all for about 12 pounds including shipping for my I7-14700KF.
My temps are not getting that high without a contactframe about 88-92 but with a undervolt of 0.075 mv wich helps reduce the temp. I have a bit better cooler then yours and receiveing an even little better one today. The H150i Elite LCD XT wich has one of the lowest temps in high loads. Now i have the h150i capellix xt wich i am going to sell. I also wanted a lcd screen for once...
Hoping to reduce temps to about 80c or lower in Cinebech r23 in a loop of 10 mins or longer. During gaming it normally does not exceed 55-60c only with small spikes of about 85c when the cpu had a big load. But that is like 0.1% of the time or less.

You gotta change settings in bios, to run the default intel settings and not the Manufacture settings
There's no way you should hit 92C playing a game, so something is definitely wrong.
A simple undervolt should do even better than the contactframe i imagine. Might wanna look into that too!
I tried a very minor undervolt and it was causing blue screens. It only gets up to very high temps while using Cinebench and it will never reach 100C in gaming or video editing. So I'm not too concerned.
Should never be running 90c at a normal or even 85c that’s 13900k status not i7. I’d upgrade that Corsair immediately. I recently read people are having SSD over heating issues and never thought to check it, especially Samsung pro. I know everyone is giving you their jay two cents about it but great video on how to install and use the frame. Should be required for everyone for the price.

That’s weird that your CPU is reaching 100C. I undervolted my i7-13700k and gained some FPS, and less power draw. But it’s sits around 60C on max load.
I have the same Corsair cooler with a i7-12700K and I lost 15c with a frame during Cinebench R23
i bought my 14900k and didnt know about these contacts frames and im pretty sure it ended up degrading it self because of temps, wish i would of knew about this when i first installed my cpu

my contact fram just arrived, this weekend will be installing it, i run a i5-13600k with a h100i 240mm, been hitting high temps also, i did undervolt it and for gaming got temps down to 50-60c, turbo still hits 5.1ghz, but runs a little lower, around 4.9ghz, also, MSI mobos are known to run 12th/13th gens hard out the box, noticed any gaming(what i do with my computer) it was always running 5.1ghz(stock turbo), but my goal is to get the cinebench temps under control, with undervolt they instantly jump up to 90c still, and my score is nowhere near avg for the 13600k, and i noticed some cores are higher than others, which to me=bent cpu/bad contact, i did try repasting/resetting cooler to no avail....
I just got the same cpu and I use a be quiet! Pure Rock 2 Black and I dont hit 80°C.
Just got and installed a 14900K on my Z690 Aorus Master with the Arctic Liquid Freezer 2 360 ARGB AIO and my idle temps average roughly between 32-34 degrees, but even during idle sometimes spike up to 66 degrees and during gaming load with everything maxed out, reaches 82-85 degrees... this is using the intel ILM and Arctic MX-6 thermal paste. So yeah... Definitely furnaces.
Oh 100%, I think my 13700K is a bit of a lemon as I think I lost the silicon lottery. I tried a -60mV offset and that results in BSODs😂

This is the way! We shouldn't have to, but if you're building a high end Intel system, an extra £10 won't hurt I suppose.
Well, the other option is pretty hardcore at a direct die water block. The Thermal Grizzly contact frame 'might' get you like 1 or 2 more degree.
Bleh, Intel chips are heating so bad because of power inefficiencies. I swear I'ma go AMD for my next build.
I've installed this exact same contact frame with my i7 13700k on a new Z790 Tomahawk and I'm finding in stock config it's idling around 35-38 degrees and will go in the high 80's to low 90's under load but can creep a bit higher during longer benchmarking.
What's your cooler?

Check your cpu wattage and make sure your mobo bios is enforcing limits.
It's not the CPU, it's the motherboard BIOS running the CPU all out. Plenty of videos from the big guys that go over this and how to fix it.
I had a strong suspicion that my MSI board is pushing my CPU hard. However, the contact frame certainly helps
I'm building in not too long. I'm getting a i5-12500, and I bought the Thermalright contact frame and Peerless Assassin cooler to go with it. We'll see how it goes.

@@senliler More cooling than a 12500 could ever hope for. I tried loading it up and I can't remember the number but it was running the coolest I've had in a long time.
@@senliler I reran the test. Loading all cores to 100%, the max any of them experienced was 57C. The over time average was low 50's.

mine 13700k with maxpefr settings 5,4Ghz Pcore all the time and 4,4Ghz Ecore all the time, gigabyte z790, goes around 92°C cinebench r23 10min throttle test. with slight UV -0,075V goes 85°C, i use deepcool ls720 360aio, best of the best and with 1200rpm. fan speeds all the time under stress test. all without frame... but i try it in few days, then my cpu will be coolest on earth maybe... i heard catastrophic scenarios about this cpus and looks like is not really true...
100C at 5.1Ghz is really high. I get that at 5.6Ghz.
You need a better cooler and airflow.
I have a 360mm radiator, but you're right about the airflow. I'm currently organising some new parts for this build
@@ProYamYamPC Cooler should push air out and have a couple case fans pulling cool air in. Good for the other components like the GPU.
If you don't want to run high clock speeds, try lowering your CPU voltage. That'll make quite a difference in temperatures.
I use this and a noctua nh d15 and game around 60 degrees. Rarely above 80.
If you are hitting 100c then you need to be looking at a better cooling solution. My 13th gen doesn't hit 80c on R23 and it's cooled with Noctua U12A air cooler....so think twice before messing with your frame.
I suspect a 360mm AIO is at least adequate. It had no issues cooling a 3950X for a year

I recommend you use liquid metal instead of thermal paste. That will decrease CPU's temperature by 5 degrees at least or under volt your CPU because 90's still a high temperature that can reduce your CPU lifespan.
Tried an undervolt, it really impacted stability. I’m going to try a negative AVX offset next. As temps anywhere else are much better (usually mid to high 60s).
I have the 13900k and its insanely hot. Ive got a 360mm aio and it is reaching 100c whenever i am gaming. Looking for a cheap soluce so thanks !
Your issue is elsewhere. I'm running 13900k and not even OCed have I passed 88 C on full 100% usage.
Bad cooler mount.
Did not touch the mount, I updated the bios once before changing cpu to enable 13th gen on my 12th gen mobo and I was getting baaaaad temps. Updated it further and my temps are "normal" now.
Edit: probably a voltage problem or bug with the first bios for 13th from msi.

Undervolting will help alot .
Use it on the brand new cpu if u can. The already used ones are bent by the ILM there is a good chance they not gonna work as expected.
y recomand yow uze grizley liqwid metal. if yow know how to propely put this y promice like me with a 260 water koling 77-81 degreze maximum and with some realy stress with prime 95 maximum 92 degrezer. and dezable that enchant turbo from bios because it pushez only 200mhz with no vizible performance and some extra voltage !! and live everithing default. u gona get far better results with liqwid metal.

I used 2 contact frames on 12900k asus Z690 hero.
Both work good for 2 days - 2 weeks then become bad. I'm thinking to use intel contact metal right now.

I got it fixed.
It was 12900k not installed correctly with Thermalright Contact frame and Arctic freezer II Aio.
so I replaced 12900k with 13700k then make sure every screw and stands off done together and nicely tight.
without damaging motherboard PCB.
Suddenly after I did this all my slight stutter gone and temperature is very stable.

Hmmmm something is wrong with your bios settings for sure. I’m using a 240mm AIO and the thermalright frame with the 13700k and my max temp at 250W is about 79c. After undervolting 120mv it’s getting to about 65 max
Use intel xtu lower voltages and your cpu won’t touch 90c
XTU2.0 still uses 512A and unlimited watts. Taking those down is best. 375a and 200w is a good start. *13700k

Yes i installed several of these on 12th gen, toke off nearly 10 degrees with the included paste. Im thinking you need more airflow.

The thermalite is actually the best choice,. You can't screw it up and damage the board or pins. You just have to "tighten it to the wall", but how to do that is complicated. I used to build wheels as a bike mechanic. Found a better way to find even compression with this plate, I can't share it though. Builders have to keep their secrets.
I don't think these are that hard to cool at all, but they will push thermal limits if no PL is set. That said, undervolt it correctly and they drop 20-30c.

I'm late to the party on this video but you made one big mistake with this chip running hot, the radiator has to be installed over on the front of the case with the pipes downwards with 2 powerful or 3 powerful fans blasting air onto the radiator. Top mounted rads do not work well especially with known chips that run hot. Front mounting the radiator will give the air more time each time fluid is pumped out to cool down at the top of the rad by front mounting it.

Hi, such high temperatures might be partly caused by wrong CPU cooler orientation/placement.
"Gamers nexus" made a video about it 3 years ago, check it out. He recommends to put it horizontaly above your CPU (so tubes go down to CPU).
My cooler is mounted above the CPU and it’s set to exhaust
