- Installing transitions from Lifeproof to carpet can be a breeze if you're able to install your transitions this way. In this video, I go over two different scenarios for installing transitions where tack strip is not needed. Also, on one tear out is not even needed. When transitioning from lvp to carpet should I use a T-mold, baby threshold or reducer? Thanks!
It's really preference. As long as the tack strip nails don't stick up through the carpet. Then a t mold is an easier install. But a bull nose or multipurpose reducer is technically made for that. Neither way is wrong. Hope that helps. Thanks for the question
I have watched dozens of videos on t molding transitions from laminate to carpet, have not seen one that answers my question, the t molding I have is wood and there is no track for it to fit in, question is do I nail through it or use liquid nails?, any tips ?
Hey John, yeah, on a wooden transition, you are going to want to use a Brad nailer to nail it down. If you don't have one, you can get away with trim nails. I would drill pilot holes first. I always use a matching wood puddy to putty my holes. And you literally can't see them when you're done. Hope that helps. Thanks for the question.

I'm not sure about lowes but home depot sells a lot of lifeproof and they will have the transition to match. Wanted to mention that sometimes I do vinyl plank jobs that's not lifeproof and I need to match a transition. Floor and decor will be your new favorite place. They have all transition every color from lvp to laminate to real wood. Hope that helps. Thanks for the question
Everyone shows the easy transition install where everything is nailed or screwed into a wood based flooring. So simple….lol.
I had to pre drill the tack strip with an 1/8 inch bit then drill a starter hole also 1/8 inch masonry hole into concrete slab floors.
I drilled a 1/4 inch holes and installed wooden dowels just to get the tack strips down. Then i had to do it all again for the transition piece.
Have I missed that type of install video?
@Joe Pereira They make concrete tack strip! Definitely try that next time!!
I hot glue the tack strip down first and let it set up while I’m working on something else then I come back and pins the nails down. Using hot glue and PL3X I’m able to skip the drilling into concrete step! It has excellent holding power on concrete. I have lots of transition videos but none drilling holes into concrete! I use glue!

I install carpet and sometimes have to drill down tackstrip on concrete. Its quick and easier than using hot glue and way cheaper.
How did you cut the metal part to size?
A pair of tin snips. Just clip both sides and bend back and forth til it breaks. Thanks for the question
Would you just turn the reducer if the carpet was lower than the lvp?
Maybe. As long as it comes out pretty flat with a smooth transition

What brand of reducer or t molding do you use?
Usually, use what matches the floor. I like Quickstep cause you can just cut pieces
Of to make what you need but pergo 4 in 1 is popular. The drawbacks you have to assemble them and they don't always close up. Leaves a big seam. I usually color with stain pens. Hope that helps Thanks for the question

What do you use to cut the transitions
I just use my Dewalt miter saw but you can also use a hand saw if in a pinch
I hate the staple method. I am a carpet installer. And we hate when people use staples were they are not needed. Now i get why you do it that way. I am not saying its wrong just saying i HATE it. Good videos.

I install carpet as well. He should of put tackstrip and stretched it. Carpet needs to be stretched period.
How can you do the last method if the floor is concrete 🤔
If I had to do it on concrete. I probably wouldn't cut the pad back so much. instead I would probably use a T mold. Cut the pad back around a quartered to 3/8 back behind the carpet then use hot glue to glue the carpet to the concrete. Remember we cut the pad back just a little so the carpet can touch the ground. Now I can glue a told down. One side will sit on the flooring and the other will sit on the carpet on the little ledge we created with the pad. Use a urethane glue and weights to hold it down. Once dry it will be there for life. Hope that helps. Thanks for the question

Or how would I know where to place the metal
I usually place the metal u channel about a 1/4 inch away from the flooring. Hope that helps. Thanks for the question
