The first two games were some of the cleanest and best footsies I have ever seen in Ult. Proto's Lucina and Light's Fox are truly some of the best things to watch in the game, and masterpieces in their own right.

No he wasnt... lol. He got lucky as Lucina to get the opening against Leo. All he had was a plain lucina, who every top player knows how to fight against, and an annoying min min matchup. It was over when he ran into Light. He has the speed to keep his min min on her heels.
@@JMPhotography01 He got LUCKY?! Man are you a Leo fan... If you knew how HARD it is to play min min at top level play. Lmao Light is definitely my new favorite player after this set. Sure he lost to Sparg0 but the footstool combined with the irl emoting is the kind of hype most of these other wet blanket smash players are missing
I didn't watch this set yet (I will immediately after writing this), but Light won. I remember when he lost to Proto once ; he got beat very badly first game first stock. Yet, here, he got his rematch. I watched his set against MKLeo among others, and I think he has improved quite a lot. He actually kinda camps now 😄. I was a Fox main before picking up Lucina in Ultimate. I played her so much that I didn't have a secondary besides Roy, and my Fox was like... dead. I couldn't vibe with any character for like two years. Instead, my friend picked Fox up. I had troubles to beat him for a good year, then I got good at edgeguarding and he couldn't come back from off stage, so much so that he picked up another main because I then kept beating him. We both thought Fox was, in fact, not top tier because of his recovery. But now... I'm wondering if we weren't wrong and if Lucina vs Fox is not an even matchup instead of a favorable one for Lucina. The Aegis are my secondaries now, and part of the reason why I vibed with Mythra instantly was because I used to be a Fox main. To me, she immediatly felt like a blend of Fox and Lucina. The hard part was to adapt to Pyra, but I more or less did. I'm very grateful I could play Fox, he's so cool, he's fun to play even though I lost my touch with him and he's super entertaining to watch. Light is also an amazing player and one of the hypest there are. Ggs 🙂
I feel like it needs to be said that when you talk to a translator you address the person you actually want to speak to. and the translator should speak as if they are the person. The way it was done definitely felt strange
5:16 ProtoBanham hits himself in the eye, but is this all part of the plan? His eyes were closed when he got hit if you watch it frame by frame. Also, look at Light trying to hold in the laugh. I'm 99% joking, eye damage is very scary. Take it from someone who may be blind in a few years. Though it would be funny if this was all an elaborate tactic to win. Like some anime stuff LOL
Not to dismiss Light's insane games, but Proto might have also been very tired because of Dabuz, Tweek and Leo. I still think Light would have won, but at least with a 3-2 on his favor if Proto's mental tireness wasn't so big
I think ProtoBanham would have won if he edgeguarded Fox better as Lucina. Going Min Min was not a good option though. I played against my friend's Fox for a year as Lucina, and he literally never beat me again with Fox since I learned to edgeguard him. And my friend was more or less always slightly better than me in neutral unless I used Mythra, yet I made him drop Fox with my Lucina. I think Fox wins against Lucina only if his player completely outclass the Lucina player in neutral and/or if the Lucina player can't edgeguard the Fox player enough. Otherwise, Lucina wins the matchup imo
@@georgesbouchet7430 What you might not think about is that Light has and did a thousand of mix ups to recover Like there is a reason why he is still a Top 10 player even though Fox Linear recovery. It's like edgeguarding Cloud, Aegis or Characters like Cpt Falcon. They all seem really edgeguardable at first, but when you play against some people that becomes an impossible task. Like does your friend do this kind of mix up like 15:05 ?
@@jonathankuyekudila6474 My friend dropped Fox, but he used to do stuff like that, yeah. I'm almost certain that I could have edgeguarded that one with a spike (Lucina dair). The only mix up I never saw my friend do is the situational high up B recovery that I saw Light do before. This is the only Fox mix up I can think of that could completely catch me off guard, otherwise Fox players would maybe stall their fall with dowb B, but they will for sure side B (high or low), then/or up B in a predictable direction most of the time. Sometimes they will use these three options, sometimes two, or just one of them. They'll often use up B near stage too, and few Fox players would use his air dodge to recover because of how bad it is for that purpose (too short). Maybe I forgot something, although I don't think so. I see your point though, I encountered situations where I couldn't edgeguard characters with bad recoveries, be it against other Fox players, Captain Falcon, Aegis, Cloud mains, etc. And people like Sparg0 and Fatality would probably not be easy to catch off stage for anyone
I see. ProtoBanham shouldn't have switched to Min Min here, Lucina was the answer. But Light really does recover well. Makes me want to fight him. I'm not sure I would be able to keep up in neutral, but I'd like to edgeguard him at least a couple times. Proto got edgeguarded here though 😄 Light truly is amazing, I can tell he's the type of players I love to fight the most. He's aggressive and surprising. Now to watch Sparg0 vs Light in grand final
I think what was happening was that Light was trying to showcase that he was still amped between games. It is a fairly common tactic to cool another player’s momentum by taking as long as possible between games. I think this may have been what Proto was doing. If Light didn’t keep as dynamic as possible, the lead and momentum he accumulated in the early set might have been forfeit.
Light looking a little disrespectful… this set makes me not like him as much as I did. You didn’t see photo showboating the set he beat light pretty good
Called that run back with Sparg0 and Light. This is probably the one time Sparg0 will have someone different that isn't MkLeo. Yet now it probably feels less hype for him if he does win it all. I am not saying he won't be hype but when you know you are always so close to showing MkLeo that your time has come and when it is all on the line he has never won it. MkLeo has always taken the win from Sparg0 in grand finals everytime they faced each other. Yet now who knows Sparg0 may never get another chance to finally get that win over MkLeo in a grand finals match. I know he puts that behind him but to finally know you finally bet the best and in the grand finals means more then you think. For some reason it means a lot to people to beat MkLeo in general. They always do a big pop off if they win against him but not as much against someone else lol. Yet after the win against him they go and lose lol. It's like how did you go and win against him but then lose easily to someone else lol.
Tf you talking about in that last paragraph? Every set is different matchup, playstyle and mentality wise, so of course things happen that way. Otherwise every tourney would play out the same. Also, of course people are hyped beating Leo, cause he's undoubtedly the best player in the world.
