100% agree with the levelling. It’s my go to every time before trying anything else when I get a print fail and in general it’s an instant fix. Nice review man, thank you. Subscribed.
Nice to see some other people with an S4 too. I like mine but I don’t like that Elegoo is completely neglecting the firmware. Things like the RERF and auto-resume should have been in both machines and they told me they’re not even sure it’s gonna be there at all, let alone at launch.
Neglecting firmware? No they''re not. It's literally not even fully released yet. Also, they told you what both of them were from the jump. You chose the cheaper one. Should have spent the extra 100 bucks for the ultra. Not sure how that's Elegoo's fault.
Thanks for the review. One of the first I've seen for the non-ultra version of the Saturn 4. I have a Mars 3 and am going to upgrade. My only hesitation with the Ultra is the Tilt Release tray is that it's just another point in the system than can break. But, I do love that it seems to help with print failures, makes things easier and speeds up printing time. I'm still leaning with the Ultra.
The ultra is, on paper, twice as fast thanks to that tilt mechanism. I'm as worried about that tilt as you are, but I'm eager to try it for myself. The idea of cutting my print times in half makes printing big pieces like the Tenjin kinda enticing: www.blackforgegames.co.nz/products/tenjin-the-cursed-scholar Glad you liked the review!
Don't throw away those strainers they are useful just put them in another funnel to make them stable, plus I use sunlu resin and they include those strainers in the resin box so a lot of times I have so many of them that I don't even purchase that most of the time I don't even use my metal strainer funnel.....
Regardless of the flip top you still would require more room for a traditional removable cover as it still needs to be picked up and clear the back panel before it can be removed. I would say this one requires less room above it than a traditional lift off enclosure.
I regularly use thise plastic spatulas for getting prints off. To the point of buying new ones, and they wre surprisingly difficult to find unless you are searching in a different hobby. They are usually found under automotive for tinting applications. Regardless, i fell like im the only persona who refuses to use the metal spatula now, adter takijg so many chunks out of my previous build plates. Good beg adhesion is the key
Why you said that filter is garbage? If you have a bad print it's often a must to filter your resin. If you have trouble holding it, buy a funnel. As for plastic scraper - yeah, that one is bad, it will last very shortly. But rubber scrapers are very bad idea as they tend to get sticky and it's almost impossible to clean them even with IPA. Oh, and you always should use plastic scraper to get you prints from the bed. Metal will damage structure, plastic not and it's enough.
I'm kinda surprised they aren't selling the drip tray or the camera separate. But they will sell the paper weight of a mini air filter. Not sure what Camera I could get to even fit back there and not get in the way either.
great review, The Saturn 4 Ultra has Wi-Fibut the normal 4 dont :-) I've just received the same Saturn 4 for testing as well, and I'm looking forward to trying it out, where is it possible to get the 2 figures you've printed out, they're really nice :-)
They should definitely install filters in these machines. I’m not a fan of how toxic they are, but dammit they print so well. That and a seal for the cover would be really nice just to save your health
Been wanting to print my Zbrush sculpts. Think ill order this. Ive never had 3d printers before but I sculpt atlot in Zbrush. Would love to have some models in my art office. Usually had Shapeways print them but that gets costly.
Arguable the flip up lid takes less space vertically cause with the other Saturns you have to lift the lid up and over, which about doubles the height of the printer where as this is only say 1.5x height
Unless you use a thermal enclosure and you can leave the printers cover.... But in that case you can remove this lid by removing 2 screws.... So IT does Not really matter....
Finally a review of the non-Ultra! Obviously Elegoo are paying everyone to review the Ultra, but let’s be honest, that tilting plate is asking for trouble.
I think you’re right about the tilting plate. Time will tell but I’d nervous to be one of the first to try that out. I’ll stick to the traditional plate until I see more data
It's kinda sad that company's these days resort to lame product titles... adding "Ultra" or "Pro" at the end. I rather when they can come up with weird wacky names than just Ultra or Pro at the end.
The title suggest that they are upgraded version, any other name would suggest a "different version" instead of "professional version" it's uncreative, but consumers have limited attention spans.
Amazing idea make things confusing and harder for your avg customer to understand , that will push sales thru the roof . Honestly tho I do enjoy differing from the norm or finding your own spin/style on it but understand why companies opt not to most the time .

@@EyeXombie I didn't pay for it at all. I was sent an early review model, specifically to provide feedback on things like this. But you do you mate ^^

17:17 "and I do highly suggest that come at ah .. *moans*". Wtf? what was he trying to say lol
Needs editing work-- Clearly doesn't watch the whole video of himself.
Mental breakdown. Happens to everyone.
Yep. I missed that. That's my bad.
i laughed so much at music after it
The little yellow scraper is great for flattening out your wet pallet parchment when you set them up if you paint what you print.
Ah, ok -- that'd be useful. Thanks for the tip!
They're not really funnels and instead filters to decant the resin from the vat back to a container while catching any residue / bits of cured resin.
Good point -- I did use the wrong word there. :)

Those strainers are absolutely great, you are supposed to put them inside of a plastic funnel.

What kind of resin did you use if I may ask?
What’s the software for designing your own models?
Just don’t make the mistake I did and not clean the vat out and puncture the fep, luckily the screen was fine

Well, Elegoo is definitely not paying (at least not the majority) of the reviewers. I was sent the Ultra - but no money 😂
Nope. They aren't paying for reviews.
@@GeekDetour There’s plenty people who have posted Ultra reviews, sponsored by Elegoo. That’s payment in my book haha!

So an honest question to the owners of either; is the ultra worth the extra 100?
Well the other most common problem is temperature besides leveling
As awesome as these are, im hoping they take the feedback most of the community is giving and make improvements for the next edition.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN PRINT SPEED BETWEEN THE STANDARD AND THE ULTRA.
Yessss thank you!
Hey I love your t-shirt! Where can I get one?
3:37 for the rook piece? WTF
They jumped the price to 450 :(
