Love your video! I'm in Asheville NC but headed to Maine for 6 months or more for Maine Woods Love! Thank you for a great video and the inspiring thoughts on life etc. Have a great life :) See you on da trail!
Brought back a lot of memories ... did this in 2016 as a practice before doing the AT .... Sunday River Whitecap is one of my favorite places!!! Corner
I hadn't viewed your channel since the CT finish, but I'm glad I found this. I recently lost my 30 year old son, who hiked a number of AT sections with me. I'm heading to Harper's Ferry next month to pick up where we left off, and I think it will be tough, but something I need to do for me. He was my biggest cheerleader and would want me to push on. Being with me in spirit just won't be the same. 😢
My heart goes out to you during this difficult and trying time. I truly hope I could bring a little joy into your day with my videos. I had always held high regard for anyone who completes their hike of the AT in sections. That takes boatloads more planning and dedication to completing a goal. Here's a haiku I wrote that brings me peace and I wish it delivers for you. Spend time in nature. Leaves and grass help bad times pass. Earth is our savior!
This loop is a goal of mine. I have no time other than the winter. This winter will be Bigelow Preserve and maybe across the road, the Crockers, Reddington, Spaulding and Sugarloaf. Hopefully next winter is the Grafton Loop
@@LeftEnright unfortunately I was breaking trail in snowshoe up to my knees at times. Cut it short and camped for a night. I at least tested more gear and made some decisions and changes. I need to lose weight and shed sine pack weight for an attempt next year. I did snowmobile hot tent to a new location and had a good multi day adventure. I’ll make it next year, thanks for your enthusiastic inquiry 😊
@@mobilewintercamp7515 Winter, postholing, and especially unbroken trails are a massive added effort, so kudos for pushing through and getting a night of camping from the experience. Cheers!
Too damn hot to hike much now in the south. Wringing wet down here too; didn't know it was that hot in Maine. You need that PurpleRain ultralight Hiking Kilt, dude. And wtf about horse bones in trees?
@LeftEnright I hesitated to try one as a freeballer for life but can confirm the airflow is amazing. The PurpleRain is the only quick dry one on the market and I think they don't have many left. Also, it's beautiful country up there. Someday I'll make it all the way to Katahdin and I'll be looking for weird shit in the trees when I do lol.
Not to get into too much, but some things have led me to a place in my life where I've decided to take up hiking. Doing it mostly for personal reasons like many others but also to face my problem with heights head on. I've been doing a ton of research and planning already, and have plans to start slow and scenic and work my way up to longevity and higher elevations. My goal this year is to do this through hike as well by October. I'm so glad I caught this video. Excellent stuff, my friend. Really enjoy the outlook on life in general. Appreciate the video. Maybe see you on the trails someday. Quick question as well... I also have an interest in videoing as well. Can you fill me in on what type of camera and, more importantly, what editing program is useful to make videos like this? Thanks so much!
Regardless of the reason, I think challenging one's self to face hurdles with a grit and determination to succeed is a worthwhile use of personal energy. It makes me happy to know you enjoyed my video. I filmed my adventures with a Gopro camera and used their older "Studio" software to edit my videos together.
I parked at the southern parking lot on Route 26. It's visible from the road and is a busy day use spot. I haven't heard much about issues with overnight parking in Maine.
There is a decent trail map available here: www.maine.gov/dacf/parksearch/PropertyGuides/Maps/FullSize/graftonmahoosucmap.pdf and.. There are phone apps (Farout, Alltrails..) that have downloadable maps which use a phone gps to help locate your position on the map...I used both.
Good to see you out there. Nothing like a walk in the woods!!
When nature calls..I answer ;)
I am so happy you made 1K subscribers. Well deserved
WooHoo! I have enjoyed the organic growth of the channel while steadily gaining new audience members. Thanks for your support!

Heck yeah! That sounds like a fun summer ahead for you. I'll see you when I see you.
Hey Big Dog, so great to see you back with a video. Been too long since your Colorado Trail expedition. Keep them coming!!
One step at a time ;) I'm working on it.
Excellent trip.✌️
Memorable for sure. Glad you enjoyed the journey!

I forgot how great the views were from the summit and I really love the area around the Baldpates. Maine has some gems for hiking.
There he is! ✔️
Hiker trash for life!

This was my first backpacking expierence as well, went with outward bound in 2011.
It's like a mini-AT with many different challenges and great rewarding views plus lots of WOODS.

Nice! Were you able to get out there and do your winter Bigelow adventure?

We keep it real up here in Maine!
I would be interested in trying out a kilt during the warmer hiking months.

@@Clear24chris That's funny, I ran into a guy hiking last week who was wearing one. I'll have to check them out.

@@LeftEnright excellent. Thanks again. Just purchased my 1st real day pack. Getting ready!
How do decide which way to go when you come to a spork in the road?
It's best to chew the road less graveled.
Hey, I am planning on doing the Grafton Loop in September. Did you park at a trail head? Any issues or concerns leaving your car for a few days?
I parked at the southern parking lot on Route 26. It's visible from the road and is a busy day use spot. I haven't heard much about issues with overnight parking in Maine.
Wow ! That is gorgeous! So how does a newbie know where the trails is during the hike? Is there like a gps?

@@LeftEnright oh trail map! 🤦♀️ I didn’t think of that.. I guess I’d have to work on my map skills 😂
Thank you!
Happy New Year! 🎆🙏🏻
What did you use to edit your video?
Embarrassingly I still use the OG version of Gopro Studio to edit. Don't judge me 😆
Haha, it lets you upload in 4k so that's good.
I have been using Davinci. It's awesome but I can only upload in 1080p till I get the pro version .
@@TrailSprite I'm all about the HD video.
There’s a femur in this tree…. Your face! 😂
Ha. Yeah I almost walked right past it and got starled when I realized it was a bone! The joys of outdoors.
