Another nice play and thanks for uploading it. Minimal rules mistakes in this one for you to take in future games :D I definitely made the companion move mistake myself until someone commented on one of my playthrough videos! 1 - At 10:04, as others have said. When Gandalf and Strider is removed from the fellowship, they cant walk through a controlled Shadow stronghold. You must stop at them forfeiting remaining moves, or go around them. 2 - At 23:45 ditto for Pippin when he was separated. 3 - At 32:56 you are doing the combat order a touch wrong. Attacker declares "yes I'm playing a combat card" and puts it face down on the table. Defender then chooses "yeah ill play this one, or no i wont". Only then do you flip them face up. You both then roll at the same time, and only take casualties at the end. I saw the defender taking their casualties before rolling a couple of times, but it didn't affect the outcome I think. 4 - At 1:20:38, as another commenter said. The Return to Valinor couldn't target the Grey Havens.
One more rule that can totally change the game and is often overlooked. As most know, you cannot use a muster action to bring units into a stronghold under siege, however, on Page 27, top left, it states that you can use an Event card to bring units into a stronghold under siege. THIS rule totally changes how you would use event cards during play.
Thanks for posting, enjoying the videos, there are so many rules in this game. One I discovered the other day is that when you separate and move companions (pg 39 refers to pg 24) you "must stop upon entering a region containing a Stronghold controlled by the Shadow player." (pg 24) The text is a little confusing because in the line above it says you can move through enemy armies. Alex moved through Moria at about the 10 min mark. I have been breaching this rule for years!!
WOW! great catch. We have definitely not been using that rule. Although now that I think about it, it's pretty rare then we move companions through a SP stronghold
I made some flowcharts to help remember character, fellowship, nazgul and minion movement rules, maybe they will help: www.reddit.com/r/warofthering/comments/li4r97/figure_movement_flowcharts/
At 36:30 I tell Alex that the fellowship can only heal corruption by declaring in a stronghold. That was incorrect! the fellowship also heals when declared in a FP city
9:58 When moving, a companion needs to stop his movement if he reaches a shadow stronghold. Gandalf had to stop in moria and you had to use another character die to move him again in the future in order to reach lorien.
At around the 1:20:30 mark you said you could use Return to Valinor to make a roll against the Grey Havens. This is incorrect, as the card clearly states that you make rolls against any unconquered Elven Stronghold that is NOT under siege. The first two strongholds were perfectly fine as targets, but the Grey Havens would not have been. Luckily, the roll missed, so no difference in outcome.
