How to continue a shortcut from the app? I have a shortcut that opens up an app copies one thing for 8 seconds then copies another thing. Instead of waiting x seconds i want to continue the shortcut when i am ready from the app. Is there a way shortcuts can detect something, such as volume x or off in order to trigger if action and continue the shortcut

Hey, I wanted to log my drunken water to health, I did that, then I thought wouldn‘t it be cool if the app could tell me how much I have to drink to reach my daily goal of 2.2L of water. I tried getting the Value of all the water I drank so far from Health but it wouldn‘t work, i had to choose one of the earlier logs. I’m trying to send a specific text to a 3 people iMessage group which is called “Work”, however it is not letting me add text to it because I must select a contact (The group “work” is obviously not in my contacts). All I can do is multi-select the other 2 people and choose the text but the message is not going to the group “Work”. Makes sense? Work around? I want to send a pre-determined text just like you can do with a single person or while selecting multiple people.
Can I add any option to exit shortcut app? Whenever I use any shortcut it opens the app and execute things and then I have close the app i mean I have to press the home button to exit the app. I want to add an option which automatically exits the app after execution.

I have checked control center and insured the setting allowed screen rotation.Some apps rotate and some do not. Please advise.

I am a blind user of an iPhone. While your videos are very helpful, without being able to see the screen of your video, it is a little challenging. I didn’t even know you could rename magic variables! When I ask Siri to run my simple workflows it just reads them. And it uses a different voice than the workflow itself. Any ideas on how to fix that?

Irbaz Ahmed I‘m sorry, that’s not quite possible. The only thing you can do is to create a shortcut that enables low power mode when the battery is below a certain percentage. It just won’t enable it automatically because you have to run the Shortcut, it can’t do that on its own

I have a sound system that doesn't default to bluetooth but the phone connects to it automatically. If I was able to run a shortcut using siri to recognise that it's connected and play then it would automatically switch.
It is up to Microsoft developers to do it. Why not? Dropbox has some Shortcuts support. Maybe you could get in touch with Microsoft devs and request them to give OneDrive / OneNote hooks for Shortcuts. Would be nice for those that use OneDrive / OneNote :)
This was stunningly good. I'm also curious: how are you recording the video? It seems like you're using the keyboard from the sound of things. Is this an iPad keyboard or something else? Know this is a bit late but I think he's using a bluetooth keyboard. And for the "no screen touching bit", if you look up in the left corner you can see the "screen is being recorded" icon i.e. he has overlayed a screen recording on a image of an ipad.
There is just one thing i need, when i ask siri something before 2 am i want it not to do the action. But when i ask her something after 2 am i want her to actually do the action. How do i do that pls help
hmm. this would require you to tweak all the scripts so that they check the time. But yes, you could do it. You could create a shortcut that checks the time, and exits the script altogether if the time is before 2am. and if it is over 2am, it actually does it.

You could copy the text from a Message to the clipboard, then launch Shortcuts, add a Text -object and paste the text in, then use that Text in the Shortcuts to do something else. Like, I guess, resend the text to someone else, or something. But there is currently no "read your textmessages for you, and do something with their content".
If you make a Von’s list in Reminders you can say ”Hey Siri, add pizza to my Von’s list.” The shortcut adds work when a voice command is sufficient. Am I missing something here?
I think he's just using the iOS Screen Recording feature and putting that video within a static stock image frame (the bezels and the wood table) while the external keyboard is off-screen (so it's not recorded).
Two Shortcuts questions: How can I use Shortcuts to launch a particular note in notes (without using Siri suggestions)? There’s a premade shortcut in the Shortcuts gallery, that lets you choose from a list of Vesause videos, then launches the UA-cam app to that selected video. How can I change this shortcut, to choose from a list of videos from another channel, so it still launches in the UA-cam app? (I believe the section I found the Vesause shortcut was, “learn something new”)
I went and tapped on that specific Note multiple times to open it in Notes. Then Siri suggested a "Open this note" hook, and I added it to the shortcut. Now I have a "open note 32" as a widget. You just need to teach Siri that you like this note, so that she suggests it in the app. Good luck!
Shortcuts does not (currently) have access to call forwarding on/off and call forwarding phonenumber. It also does not (currently) have access to ringtone/vibration muting/control. I tried opening multiple books in iBooks by tapping on the books, but did not see a shortcut appear in Shortcuts (Siri Suggestions), so maybe Apple can tweak the iBooks aspect a bit further. Would be nice :)
Shortcuts does not provide automatic triggering (specific time, specific location, trigger-when-alarm-plays, "constantly read something, then when it changes, trigger")
Does the Domino's Pizza -app have X-Callback-URL support? If so, that could be used already. Otherwise, get in touch with the developers and request Shortcuts support :)
Not at the moment (strangely), but if you manually set a timer for a specific duration once, it should appear in the Siri Suggestions section of the Actions pane in the Shortcuts app. You cannot set a different duration each time within the shortcut though.
One of the things to consider with the Things app is that the iPad and iphone apps are two different apps. This was frustrating as depending on which device you create the shortcut, it won’t work if run on the other device. To get around this you use the get device details item, and then an if statement to tell whether you are using an iPad or iPhone.
That’s interesting, when I try without that if statement, my apps only work on the device I created it on. I even confirmed this with Culture Code on twitter

How does "asking Siri to do that" work when you're at a loud gig, in the movies, or are having a conversation on the phone? A ton of us don't use Siri daily, especially not in public. Having a button on the Widget screen to do these things is hot. and useful.

the 0.01% will create shortcuts that some of the 99.99% will use. once there's a killer app for shortcuts (the thing that everyone wants to do), it'll catch on like wildfire. but yep, just like macOS Automator is not for everyone that uses the mac, we're in the same situation with iOS Shortcuts.

There are currently no hooks available for Shortcuts so that we could control call forwarding or iCloud backup.

This is using an iPad which offers the landscape mode. The iPhone version of the Shortcuts app does offer enable landscape mode.

You have to start a shortcut with a tap, a button press, or through siri. There is currently no "location", "time" triggering.

Shortcuts does not currently have "get Bluetooth connection details / names" implemented. Perhaps in the future?

I created a "a photo a day" shortcut that takes a frontfacing camera photo and adds it to a specific note in Notes. Worked nicely.
Which option or task did you use for that?
I used the "Take Photo" Action but with "show camera preview" disabled.
then i used the "create a note" action and selected that specific note..

There’s already a “Pizza Assistant” in the gallery. It probably doesn’t tap into the dominos app though.
Does the Domino's Pizza -app have X-Callback-URL support? If so, that could be used already. Otherwise, get in touch with the developers and request Shortcuts support :)

Is running a timer not part of shortcuts?
Not at the moment (strangely), but if you manually set a timer for a specific duration once, it should appear in the Siri Suggestions section of the Actions pane in the Shortcuts app. You cannot set a different duration each time within the shortcut though.

Nobody knows. There is currently no way to do that.
One of the things to consider with the Things app is that the iPad and iphone apps are two different apps. This was frustrating as depending on which device you create the shortcut, it won’t work if run on the other device. To get around this you use the get device details item, and then an if statement to tell whether you are using an iPad or iPhone.
Just tested, not true. Same shortcut worked on both my ipad and iPhone.
That’s interesting, when I try without that if statement, my apps only work on the device I created it on. I even confirmed this with Culture Code on twitter

How does "asking Siri to do that" work when you're at a loud gig, in the movies, or are having a conversation on the phone? A ton of us don't use Siri daily, especially not in public. Having a button on the Widget screen to do these things is hot. and useful.

I think it’s safe to say, that 99.99% of iPhone owners will Never use Shortcuts.
the 0.01% will create shortcuts that some of the 99.99% will use. once there's a killer app for shortcuts (the thing that everyone wants to do), it'll catch on like wildfire. but yep, just like macOS Automator is not for everyone that uses the mac, we're in the same situation with iOS Shortcuts.
