When they did hometowns with Peter, he was talking to his friends about how he's not ready to propose, and that was a huge giveaway that he wasn't going to win, because Rachel wanted an engagement at the end. I was kind of surprised that she actually kept Peter that long. He obviously didn't want an engagement at the end of the show, and she did, so there was no way he could have won.
