Known as the FBI Load this was our issued round before transitioning to the Glock 19. In 1983 I used it in my issued 4” Model 15 to save a hostage by shooting the hostage taker from about ten feet away in a motel lobby. He was dropped, survived his wound, and the hostage was saved unhurt. In retirement my EDC is a no lock 340PD loaded w/a 110 grain +P ballistic tip.
I love 38 spl. I carry one everyday. I never expected a38 to expand.. shot placement is king. I suggest you get a Small 357 and you want have the limited power issues. I used a 4 in 38 spl with a federal load years ago. 1shot took care of the bad guy expansion of bullet was minimum. Shot placement!!!! 38s just don’t travel fast enough for reliable expansion.
Thank you for video. I'm running those in my dad's model 15 but it's a 4" barrel. Should make a difference. I run a warm wadcutter in my snub for those reasons
Would be nice to get Chrony results. Underwood appears to be trying to deliver Buffalo Bore ballistics at a lower price point. The 38 , especially a 2 inch 38 fits in a pocket and gives an excellent combination of bullet weight in the 158 lhp , especially the Buffalo Bore. I have carried one for years, and despite small 9mm pistols, it still works for ccw, discreet carry. I have mainly Colt alloy and steel frame 2 inch revolvers. I had several S&W J frames but sold all of them except a model 60-7 plus p rated. I had a late model 37 , plus p rated but sold it. Compared to a Colt Agent or Cobra it was extremely uncomfortable to shoot with most loads. Colt should offer a lightweight plus p rated 2 inch 38. The market is there. The larger frame, better grip makes an alloy frame Volt shoot better than a steel frame S&W J frame.
I HAVE TWO LOADS I USE IN MY 38 -- BOTH +P -- 140grXTP - I MODIFY(DEEPLY SCORE THE EXISTING CREASES WITH A RAZOR) THE BULLETS SLIGHTLY & THEY DO OPEN UP NICELY -- 158gr KEITH STYLE HARD CAST -- NO HP IN THIS ONE -- SATISFIED WITH BOTH OF THEM -- ONE OPENS UP GOOD ENOUGH & PENETRATES ENOUGH - THE OTHER PENETRATES LIKE MAD
Just as he is about to ID his best round HE goes off on Ranting and talks about himself and never picks a round, in other words he fails to address what this video was all about and spends all the time kissing himself ......this guy is a comic.....
BLUF: Seven minutes worth of useful information in a 14-minute video. Almost the entire second half of this video is an off-camera, stream-of-consciousness monologue, accompanied by an unblinking shot of a motionless gel block. I kept watching and hoping he would get back on topic, but he never did. I know I’m gonna get flamed for not listening to my mother (“if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all”), and I also know that I sometimes ramble myself, so let me offer some constructive criticism: Don’t ever NOT edit a video before posting it. Most of your audience probably does not need to know how long it has been since you last carried a revolver, why you carried it that day, what else you might have carried, or what clothes you were wearing and why. I am a bit obsessive (could you tell?), but most people don’t want to watch a five-minute shot of a motionless gel block either. Editing is what separates good videos from not-so-good ones, and it keeps your focus sharp. Aim for the 10 ring!
He is much too impressed with himself....he is the sort of a guy who thinks he is the smartest guy in the room, real annoying type of a person.....loves to hear himself talk, in this case he is just making noise......
This character talks like he is dancing, he talks and he talks but never hits the punch line in a timely manner....this guy is a BORE to listen too.....When he does give some information it gets all clouded up so you can not identify what he is talking about........can not wait till this video is over, he has such an irritating voice....

This was also my first duty load out of a S&W m-66 4" barrel

I saw a video where Massad Ayoob recommended this style bullet for 38 snub.

P365 with +P light loads don't drag you kilt or shorts down. Liberty Defense & Underwood make extremely effective, very lightweight loads for this.

Buffalo Bore or Underwood hcwc are options
I'd like to see a similar test using Wadcutter bullets. Preferably those rated at 800fps.

Norma makes a nice 158gr jhp and it's a standard pressure.
Yeah they are nice their 45acp hp is nice too
I bought a box of that Norma safeguard 158 grain standard pressure hollow point ammo, for my model 15 smith, yet to see a test on it though.
huh huh huh huh he said load😂😂😂
Looks like a speer hollow point bullet

I strongly suggest you work on your shirt.
I would not feel confident with any 38 revolver with les than a 3" barrel.

What’s that t-shirt mean? Just wondering
Just a humorous take on my spirituality.
Stopped watching the video when I saw that shirt
