Such an underrated band. Remember seeing them in 08-09? With trivium all that remains and a band from Alaska that i cant recall the name. Was able to smoke with them before and after the show in their van. Super down to earth guys.
Exactly!!! They were a shot in the arm for me at a time in my life and music where I thought there wasn’t any good new bands. Then these guys blew my fucking head off! Incredible!!!
I saw them in 2009 in Montana. They were on tour with protest the hero, as I lay dying and mychildrenmybride. AJ was already out by then and I believe midheaven might have been out already. I'm just happy I got to see them. Protest the hero I just saw 2 days ago again in phoenix and that was incredible. Also sounds like they're writing another album.
for those of you that dont know this: the rubicon refers to julius ceaser because back then, he was a great military leader against another great military leader from his own country named pompey, the rubicon was a river that caeser had to cross to get to rome to finish pompey off... so when caeser crossed the rubicon he was declaring civil war on his own country
Close, but not exactly. The Rubicon marked a border into "Official" Rome where it was illegal to hold "Imperium" or military command. Caesar had to go into Rome to stand for election as Consul, but was certain that he would be assassinated or kidnapped if he did so without protection. So he Crossed the Rubicon with his legions to protect himself.
@@daniellynch3724 Close but not exactly. Caesar was mostly afraid of being put on trial for breaking the law during his proconsulship in gallia, the majority of his wars were "illegal". He needed consulship to get legal immunity. He had 1 legion at his side. It wasnt illegal to hold military command in italia or as you say "official rome", consuls were allowed to do it.
Back in the day in 2007 I was BLOWN AWAY by the talent of this band seeing this clip video on TV. The technique, the vocals, the structure changes...the melodic part switch sounded really special for me, nostalgia. Wish they have been bigger through the years.
Imagine being so good that you come off as "sold your soul" type of musicians, then breaking up. You guys are legends and could have done so much. PLEASE COME BACK.

This band is amazing. And it's not just AJ that was amazing. The drums, the vocals, and the bass all are great. I saw them at Warped last year and they weren't just great...THEY WERE AMAZING!
I randomly met their guitarist on a night out, super chill guy and was genuinely surprised when I said I had heard of his band. I was like, bro not only have I heard of your band, but I play that shit on repeat - "I wake up to it I brush my teeth to it." Just a mountain of talent, and humble too
I was just listening to them again this week, super talented band. From what I heard their vocalist is trying to get them back together again for a Nocturne 20th anniversary tour but only if their guitarist is okay with the idea 👏🏻
The vocals are amazing on this song in any way shape or form. No way someone can replicate the vocalist. Y'all need to give this man some credit at least. Just such an amazing song. Hope this band is safe after all these years of them disappearing out of nowhere.
0:43 / 1:39. Every piece of the vocals on those parts, sound like NO ONE ELSE, and probably never will. That shit is beyond unique. I've known about this song for about 6 and a half years, and I still have never found anyone that sounds like 0:43 / 1:39, IN ANY WAY. Nathan Ells is fucking incredible..
Try Devin Townsend(Strapping Young Lad and Devin Townsend Project), Mike Patton(Faith No More and Mr Bungle) Anders Friden (In Flames) and Greg Puciato(The Dillinger Escape Plan) All of those singers have similar vocal styles.
its been 8 years since I listened to this song for the first time... and it still makes me headbang So fucking much. Best song ever. I still miss these guys...
Man, I totally agree. He is way more raw, a better singer and I prefer the hard, real screaming to the cookie monster style too. I think this one and even Midheaven were both better albums overall, though there was a lot of strange, filler-esque stuff on the latter.
This was the first band/song that I discovered on UA-cam many years ago back in 2006. I was so impressed that I bought their album within a week of discovering their music. Interestingly, I used to have conversations with the guitar players on Myspace, Those were good times.
The bassist is the most undersung member of this band. His understanding of how to provide a base layer of understanding, and context, for everything else that is happening around it, it pure fucking artwork.
I completely agree buddy. This song has the shreddy intro then catchy verses with an epic chorus with that beautiful guitar melondy. It has that badass breakdown in the second verse. Then the whole bridge has an insanely unique intrumental jam. Then the slow part is so nice and calming. The solo starts jazzy then picks up and becomes so epic and then the emotional outro "NO OTHER WAY OUT!!". Vocals, drums and guitar are all perfectly balanced. This song is one of the most perfect songs imo

Lyrics:
Of all the times I've been disrespected
You'd think it'd be no surprise
Learning lessons, all the precious treasures
Take all that you've got
I'll take your ready hand with a ready blade
I'm dead-set to make you lie in the bed you've made
Paid in full, Take it from your pride
I don't know just what you thought
But you've gone past the line
And you've got me wrong
The time has come, your song has long been sung
Brought down, brought down; you won't have long to go
I'm not cutting a loss again, you won't have long to go
An hourglass of sand
And I'll be on time, inform the rest
So run as fast as you can
Hell's coming for you
Try to strike and then slip away
But I won't let you leave without feeling an equal pain
You'll see, because I'll make you see
Left in my council you'll know what it means to respect me
Once I've caught you alone, teach you all you need to know
Pray, once I've caught you alone
Teach you all you need to know
The time has come, your song has long been sung
Brought down, brought down; you won't have long to go
I'm not cutting a loss again, you won't have long to go
I wish I held desire solely to right this wrong
Take careful tones urging the dawn to come
Make every word worth what it takes in turn
I can't go on, with my faith interrupted
I can't go on, with my faith interrupted
How can I look the other way?
My faith interrupted
You've shown me there is no other way
Out
Other way out
