The original SAT was much more difficult. A perfect score used to be extremely rare (Bill Gates had to take it twice to get a perfect score), but it's actually quite common now.
He sat second time to get 1600 in SAT, which is not shocking as his parents are Indian.

This is not rare at all. For an Asian American, perfect SAT may get one into flagship state universities. It alone is not enough to get one into Ivy League schools or MIT, CalTech, Stanford. And universities are shedding the SAT requirements.
Don't let your parents watch this.

Why is this newsworthy? My boyfriend got a perfect SAT back in 1990
It's a sign of the times. More and more high schoolers today are becoming higher and higher achievers early on due to the competition that (getting into) college provokes. Back in 1990, students and college were less competitive, even though there were still high achievers out there like your boyfriend. Good for him! :)

My brother got into Vanderbilt yet still rejected from ucla and Berkeley. AA is the real systemic racism felt by the millions of asians in CA that have to work twice as hard as others to get into the same college
