AI means a hell of a lot more than simply "machine learning via neural network". Hell, I was learning pathfinding algorithms and implementing state machines in my "AI' class.
I play Final Fantasy XIV, it's a game where most of the daily content the average player goes through is getting into dungeons and battles working together with 3, 7 or 23 other random players. There's been an uptick in AI recently, there's always been bots but they were mostly relegated to the open world where they are completely harmless, but those bots have started somehow managing to get themselves into dungeons with real players recently, cosplaying as normal players and being utterly impossible to work with. I was leveling one of the tank classes, and the healer was a bot, it didn't heal me at all in a dungeon which is healing intensive and it would just run around and seemingly just admire the scenery and run into enemy groups whilst me and the other two DPS tried to figure out what was going on with it. It wouldn't respond in chat and eventually we got it kicked from our party.
Something I've heard suggested as an AI bot solution is training AI on the bots so they can tell the difference between real and fake players then ban all of the bots. something i have thought of is checking for new accounts being made in waves then all ranking up extremely quick because if there leveling up extremely quick there probably a smurf or a bot and if the waves of accounts are leveling up at similar speeds that can be a sign of a bot net running the same program. the biggest problem i can think of with this method is determining if the unban requests are real or fake since as you said they can use chat GPT or if they really care do it manually.
it's not even ai. it's a neural network, it doesn't think, it's not yet that terrifying, everyone uses the word ai for some reason. probably since it's just 2 words.
@@Karthik-pn2yj I use AI as the term even though it's incorrect since that's what everyone else (including the companies trying to pretend it's more than it is) calls it, it's for simplicity and clarity's sake.
I think a massive flaw in your argument is that 1. AI’s like the DOTA 2 ai need a long time to train and are sensitive to changes in the game (ie buffs or nerfs/ new additions) 2. Cheating using ai needs to be profitable for someone to make an ai to do it since training them is horrendously expensive and slow so your average joe wanting to cheat in league or something would need a couple thousand GPUs and a thousands of dollars worth of energy and data to get a remotely decent ai up and running. Your example of OSRS bots is moot because they only exist by exploiting a free economy, thus allowing them to be profitable. Additionally, the actual bots themselves only use ai to avoid bans, not to cheat. Piggy backing off of chat gpt is not going to be a viable option for 99% of games
I think a massive flaw in your argument is that 1. AIs for a lot of games require minima/no training (Low intelligence automation for mmos, fps bots) 2. This is definitely profitable as people actually make money off using mmo bots
4:55 just some info about sc2, there already was a large AI called alfa star that beat a lot of progamers. Not sure why you didnt put a creenshot of that and instead put a screen shot from the traditional bot scene.
This kinda feels like fearmongering. Remember that (most) bothosters host for some kind of profit. If you are playing literally any game that doesn’t offer any kind of real money reward, the chances of botting are rather low.
Really feels like the same situation as with the "dead internet" theory! It exist, but not in the way people think. Like in case of the "dead internet" theory, the reported bot traffic is mostly just web-crawlers and such fetching information across the web (which is one of the ways search engines get their data! Also there is funny situation of TikTok's web-crawlers taking down someone's website lol). And if it does become a problem that cheaters and bots flood all official game servers, there is always the option to play with friends over LAN or through friends-only peer-to-peer (at least it is possible in most older games and newer indie games).
@@BrickEnthuslastslight correction, but the bot hosters did actually attempt to scam people by offering "Bot Immunity" which was just a virus that once downloaded, would steal your steam account and potentially let the hosters sell off any items you had. It wouldn't necessarily be making a profit, and I'm not overriding the original point that it is most often done for profit, but it felt worth bringing to the discussion.
AI bots that are indistinguishable from human players in fps games doesn't even sound too bad to me.. They could be used to reinvigorate games with low player numbers
Idk man i think the idea that literally any account you see and interact with on the entire internet could be a bot is pretty scary. And the harder it is to tell the more scary it is
I saw surprised you didn't mention the fact that AI is also being used in the actual development process of games now. Some games are now having their graphics (textures for the most part) and even narratives made by AI.
People underestimate how huge of an advantage bots have over humans For example to shoot someone in the head player needs to: look at the screen, wait for it to be processed in the eyes and brain, approximate speed at which the enemy is moving in 3D space from only 2D image, approximate how long it would take to flick, direction and distance accounting for your and enemy's speed, convert it into muscle signals (you know how complex the human arm is) accounting for mous position and maybe what buttons to press, all of this must be done 200ms in advance Bot needs to run like 8 10-grade calculations Imagine playing against someone who has 300 ping, holds mouse with chipsticks and uses 2 fingers to press buttons on their membrane keyboard Humans vs bots are like this but 2 times worse Games with discrete positions and descisions (little data in and out) are the easiest for AI, that would be chess, other deterministic board games, strategies etc
Interesting that with the SirPugger callout, you didn't mention where I certainly thought you were going. In Runescape there's already an endemic of AI machine learning. Raids being conquered in days type of deal. You also missed the existence of AlphaStar entirely.
One of the biggest reasons PVP anything was ruined for me, I got accused of cheating all the time, And the high level most players are at these days, and cheats being so similar, you really cant know if your playing against a cheater or not, Kills the magic of competition. Between this and aim assist scandals, The Fps is certainly dead to me.
On the other hand sometimes you watch a video about inteviewing random people on the street and thing that maybe talking to a smart AI is better than talking to a dumb human
captcha, long story short, is garbage. It doesn't work and has been beatable in many ways for years. Most damning of all is that there are websites you can go to that pay real people in poor countries to just do captcha's manually, so even though the account is a bot, a real human did the captcha for it
AI will replace everything and god it hurts, I hope at least the creatives that are striking for more rights will get what they need to continue making art and being fairly compensated for it
We should ask, why are we even training AI to play games. Not for fun, beacuse they're just lifeless machines with no emotions. The *ONLY* use for an AI in a game is for the intent of ruining the fun from real humans who actually do have feelings. Excluding default bots made for the game specifically by the developers, Bots are 100% malicious.
@bingoviini Personally, I enjoy watching these bots try to be human, and never quite succeeding, because we don't entirely understand humanity. These bots can't plan, can't have more than a simulated emotion, can't have authenticity. But is a representation of what we see in others. And it's always slightly off, because we don't understand ourselves as humans as much as we think we do. I think using this for sole profit and cheating is weak shit and a waste honestly.
people will always cheat and devs will always try to prevent players from cheating. This will be an endless cycle of devs vs cheaters. no matter what developers will do cheaters will always try to cheat and they will abuse any new technological advancements to their adventage.
basically homeless is trying to develop an AI based cheat detection called waldovision basically it would find out through game footage and determine wether or not you are using AI assisted cheats
I would like to clarify that Magnus Carlson wasn't a cussing of cheating: he specifically said he wasn't. He was saying that the establishments anticipated measures weren't being properly upheld.
I learned about them in research, but I've never played rocket league and didn't have any understanding of what actually made the bots so powerful. And didn't wanna talk out of my ass about it
It honestly seems like they just stopped trying with AI in video games. Other than a small thing here or there the AI of most general enemies is still horrible. We have all these AI developments but the Ubisoft games still have enemies with no situational awareness. It doesnt stop at Ubisoft but its a fantastic example.
What needs to happen is that Ai needs to be harder to access, given more locks on the door so to speak. We also need to make games themselves harder to access for Ai so simple code can’t just jump on games instantly (I’m not a robot stuff) Lastly laws, it should be illegal to use Ai at a certain age, as well as illegal to use said Ai for malicious intent These are some ideas to solve the problems, for me the biggest issue won’t be Ai itself but the world around Ai, there will be a grace period where Ai is most powerful (think of it as covid), after this grace period everything will die down but in a year or few this is when all hell breaks loose! We need to be prepared before Ai gets stronger!
Honestly with how toxic and cancerous matchmaking is, AI will do a huge service to multiplayer games. Maybe because of AI we will all go back to good old fashioned community servers that work off reputation, and cheaters get banned instantly.
it wont kill the gaming industry, the most its going to do is give us another E.T Atari 2600 situation either that or make mobile game stores actually care about quality before their servers get flooded with ai generated sludge edit: wait this is about bot accounts? i completely misunderstood the video intent
But Valorant players will keep blindly praising Vanguard, which is just another kernel-level anticheat that just runs even without the game, and saying that there are no cheaters in the game
Even if there are things better than people, better than they can ever hope to achieve, that doesn't stop others from doing it anyways. Btw i am hungry
ai beating players aint nothing those types have existed since forever, to play with players, to replace them because u have no one to play with better change ur title to How Cheating Has Changed The Gaming Industry or How AI Has Changed The Cheating Industry
Ah this would be a shame but I play single player games Tho it still is very worried even as a single player enjoyer I'd hate to see almost 10 thousand games go down the drain just cause they are multiplayer, this is also the main reason why i don't play em (and cause I'm a sore loser lol) is cause of either cheating or bots eventually maybe in hell divers 2 ill make friends with a bot it would be funny to see a bot be able to make friends with someone vc with someone without sounding like a bot would be interesting but at the same time scary
AI also ruined rocket league. before it was pretty hard to cheat in rl and i like it because it was one of the games you really couldn't hack in. then nexto was released and people started selling bot accounts.
In all honesty? How is this any different than regular cheating? All cheating is based on an anomaly. And either theres an anomoly or there isn't. People massively overestimate these bots convincing people they are human. To any trained eye, no matter the humanlike tendencies its possible to identify these bots, even to other bots. Unlike art, all potential benefit of the bot is lost the instant we are aware of the bot. No one will pay for this other than other cheaters. I'm hoping this returns us to an age of decicated servers and less algorithmic matchmaking, as our matchmaking algorithms have crushed the social aspect of gaming anyways. There is plenty of hope when it comes to games still.
But the problem is that "the trained eye" changes. So people have to relarn what to look at. It also becomes harder to tell, so the number of people with trained eyes goes down. And most importantly, convincing people who are looking at you is important, but bypassing anti cheat systems is WAY more important
At this point, i think we will soon revert to friends only type multiplayer, because there realy isnt any way to combat the skinwalkers

AI. The World’s Most Terrifying Enemy.
I predicted all of this you know. All of it.
AI is nothing but a tool. It's people who decide how to use it.
I have always and will always hate AI
it's not even ai. it's a neural network, it doesn't think, it's not yet that terrifying, everyone uses the word ai for some reason. probably since it's just 2 words.
@@Karthik-pn2yj I use AI as the term even though it's incorrect since that's what everyone else (including the companies trying to pretend it's more than it is) calls it, it's for simplicity and clarity's sake.
I think a massive flaw in your argument is that
1. AI’s like the DOTA 2 ai need a long time to train and are sensitive to changes in the game (ie buffs or nerfs/ new additions)
I think that for many people, the satisfaction from ruining the game is enough of a profit
I think a massive flaw in your argument is that
1. AIs for a lot of games require minima/no training (Low intelligence automation for mmos, fps bots)
2. This is definitely profitable as people actually make money off using mmo bots
@szarek7761 I think this is the strongest point here. There are people willing to shell out +1000 just to ruin the game.
Watch out for bot spams
5:19 Now let’s hope Ai images don’t replace real images and real art…
@Buzz.co2 they already have on search engines pretty much, even on stock footage.
you really are a variety channel, arent you
I love consuming my weekly dose of HSlop
there's also alphastar in starcraft 2, wich From what i recall was learning on the actual ranked ladder, and you couls opt in into playing it randomly
Haven't watched the video yet, but the fact that indie games exist make me believe that the industry isn't going away anytime soon.
8:38 ULTRAKILL OST 🔥🔥
Fire is Gone babyyyyyy
2 computer DMA cheats are a huge issue in Fortnite/CoD and others... This issue is a plague.
It is fear mongering, that's the only way to get people interested in a topic like this
OTHER THAN TF2*
@@BrickEnthuslast4chan is a rogue element in the simulation
@Katze822228 I would love to have a Unreal tournament 1v1 sparring partner actually.
But this will bring an onslaught of cheating in matchmaking.
MGS2 really predicted the future.
I’ll take overreacting about AI for 200
Idk man i think the idea that literally any account you see and interact with on the entire internet could be a bot is pretty scary. And the harder it is to tell the more scary it is
@htwo1 "Killing the Videogames Industry" is a bit of a stretch tho, no?
@@lagartino5093when did he say that?
@@ani_star9729 That was the title when i wrote the comment.
13:55 that name is kinda crazy
I saw surprised you didn't mention the fact that AI is also being used in the actual development process of games now. Some games are now having their graphics (textures for the most part) and even narratives made by AI.
Looking at TFS 2, you can see how simple no ai Scripps can take down a game by folding it with bots.
People underestimate how huge of an advantage bots have over humans
For example to shoot someone in the head player needs to: look at the screen, wait for it to be processed in the eyes and brain, approximate speed at which the enemy is moving in 3D space from only 2D image, approximate how long it would take to flick, direction and distance accounting for your and enemy's speed, convert it into muscle signals (you know how complex the human arm is) accounting for mous position and maybe what buttons to press, all of this must be done 200ms in advance
Bot needs to run like 8 10-grade calculations
Imagine playing against someone who has 300 ping, holds mouse with chipsticks and uses 2 fingers to press buttons on their membrane keyboard
Humans vs bots are like this but 2 times worse
Games with discrete positions and descisions (little data in and out) are the easiest for AI, that would be chess, other deterministic board games, strategies etc
Interesting that with the SirPugger callout, you didn't mention where I certainly thought you were going. In Runescape there's already an endemic of AI machine learning. Raids being conquered in days type of deal.
You also missed the existence of AlphaStar entirely.
yap yap yap when am I gonna be able to date a gamer robo already
Not until the AI goes a complete Rogue Servitor on us.
You should see the bots in Halo Infinite, they are so impressive it's concerning
2030 is genuinely going to be unimaginable from the world today
3:30 Funny think about "Go" humans recently beat the AI that beat the champion of it.
9:26 lack of credit; this clip came from Basically homeless about his ai anticheat
On the other hand sometimes you watch a video about inteviewing random people on the street and thing that maybe talking to a smart AI is better than talking to a dumb human
"nope bing back quickplay"
How about make it possible for the high level team to beat bots with cheats? (The Devs would figure out how to do this.)
6:12 that is the most old school cheating I ever heard in my life.
The best way to combat AI cheating software is to make the Anti-cheat AI that can detect any type of cheat
We're all doomed!! We need to invent a offline games!! NOW!!!
Reject multiplayer, embrace single player
1:42 Well Yes but actually no :)
bruh just put a captcha and bots wont be an issue
Does he know?
captcha, long story short, is garbage. It doesn't work and has been beatable in many ways for years.
Most damning of all is that there are websites you can go to that pay real people in poor countries to just do captcha's manually, so even though the account is a bot, a real human did the captcha for it
@ htwo i said it as a joke i learned how bad captcha is from one of your videos
3:52 this is mechanical turn slander
AI will replace everything and god it hurts, I hope at least the creatives that are striking for more rights will get what they need to continue making art and being fairly compensated for it
It’s Laika from tank trouble isn’t it
We should ask, why are we even training AI to play games.
Not for fun, beacuse they're just lifeless machines with no emotions.
The *ONLY* use for an AI in a game is for the intent of ruining the fun from real humans who actually do have feelings.
Excluding default bots made for the game specifically by the developers, Bots are 100% malicious.
You are wrong. For me (and i think many others) watching bot play and farm for me is more fun than playing.
You are wrong. Tf2 trading bots.
I was thinking this video was about chess fps :(
people will always cheat and devs will always try to prevent players from cheating. This will be an endless cycle of devs vs cheaters. no matter what developers will do cheaters will always try to cheat and they will abuse any new technological advancements to their adventage.
basically homeless is trying to develop an AI based cheat detection called waldovision
basically it would find out through game footage and determine wether or not you are using AI assisted cheats
6:37 TF2 reference Suijin
Great video. Informative, and relevant.
bring back admin powers in private lobbys!
bro the A.I are like skinwalkers now them having conersations is horrifying.
this is depressing
I would like to clarify that Magnus Carlson wasn't a cussing of cheating: he specifically said he wasn't. He was saying that the establishments anticipated measures weren't being properly upheld.
If its not won on LAN, its not a real W.
Period!
Maybe the only solution is to somehow engineer new games to not be profitable through bots.
TALK ABOUT ROCKET LEAGUE AI, DO IT DO IT THIS WOULD HAVE FIT IT PERFECTLY
I learned about them in research, but I've never played rocket league and didn't have any understanding of what actually made the bots so powerful. And didn't wanna talk out of my ass about it
It honestly seems like they just stopped trying with AI in video games. Other than a small thing here or there the AI of most general enemies is still horrible. We have all these AI developments but the Ubisoft games still have enemies with no situational awareness. It doesnt stop at Ubisoft but its a fantastic example.
Team Fortress 2's community already knows the answer.
This is quite concerning now, these AI cheats for different first person shooters are becoming quite the problem
What needs to happen is that Ai needs to be harder to access, given more locks on the door so to speak.
We also need to make games themselves harder to access for Ai so simple code can’t just jump on games instantly (I’m not a robot stuff)
Lastly laws, it should be illegal to use Ai at a certain age, as well as illegal to use said Ai for malicious intent
These are some ideas to solve the problems, for me the biggest issue won’t be Ai itself but the world around Ai, there will be a grace period where Ai is most powerful (think of it as covid), after this grace period everything will die down but in a year or few this is when all hell breaks loose! We need to be prepared before Ai gets stronger!
Honestly with how toxic and cancerous matchmaking is, AI will do a huge service to multiplayer games. Maybe because of AI we will all go back to good old fashioned community servers that work off reputation, and cheaters get banned instantly.
it wont kill the gaming industry, the most its going to do is give us another E.T Atari 2600 situation
either that or make mobile game stores actually care about quality before their servers get flooded with ai generated sludge
edit: wait this is about bot accounts? i completely misunderstood the video intent
While I find bots in gaming interesting, generative AI that steals from creatives and is wrecking the environment can eat shit
Oh god not AI
But Valorant players will keep blindly praising Vanguard, which is just another kernel-level anticheat that just runs even without the game, and saying that there are no cheaters in the game
Is someone better than you at a video game?
Then they are 100% a cheating bot. Report them to the authorities.
Even if there are things better than people, better than they can ever hope to achieve, that doesn't stop others from doing it anyways. Btw i am hungry
scary.
Bro forgot about singleplayer games.
Which are better anyway.
ai beating players aint nothing
those types have existed since forever, to play with players, to replace them because u have no one to play with
better change ur title to How Cheating Has Changed The Gaming Industry or How AI Has Changed The Cheating Industry
i'll neve ruse ai in my games
also, neuro sama exists.
i love ai russian cash grabs that cost 91 cents and are 91 cents wdym?
Being beaten online by bots doesnt bother me, im already being beaten by 12 olds online anyway.
I feel You...
Ah yes, MVM in casual
dawg why u ned another computer smh
u can record in the same computer
I‘m guessing it makes it harder to detect the cheating if the AI is on an entirely different device.
yes use virtual machine , simple
Ah this would be a shame but I play single player games
Tho it still is very worried even as a single player enjoyer I'd hate to see almost 10 thousand games go down the drain just cause they are multiplayer, this is also the main reason why i don't play em (and cause I'm a sore loser lol) is cause of either cheating or bots eventually maybe in hell divers 2 ill make friends with a bot it would be funny to see a bot be able to make friends with someone vc with someone without sounding like a bot would be interesting but at the same time scary
the bright side
just play single player XD
"Com'u'ers"
And then they will get so advanced they will demand equal rights to the human players XD
ai should be illegal and permantly banned since it will ruin many people's lifes soon
Shovelware and botting. Two scrouges that ruin all of gaming.
And most importantly, convincing people who are looking at you is important, but bypassing anti cheat systems is WAY more important
im scared
good.
