Nice tutorial video, thanks for uploading it. I live in Nicaragua and I've been trying to lower my '77 Bug and no one knows how to do it. This video is gonna help plenty. Thanks :)

TIP. After raising axle to highest point and bolts out. A good hit from BEHIND { and NOT towards your face} will dislodge the springplate, WITHOUT CUTTING Keep body parts away. Try not to mame or kill anyone.

Let the haters rag on you. I wrote tech manuals for years and this is very clear compared to the AtomWerks guy who is really confusing. Good job!

Listen to 70 Series Tires: to do this you do not have to cut your Vdub's spring arms, have mercy.

they make angle guides (home depot) that will tell you the beginning and the new set angle. can't believe you would do this with a board. WOW

Id love to see a video on raising the bugs front and rear suspension. I converted to porsche trailing arms and torsion bars. Now I have an inadvertant low rider. Spring plates are set at the lower stops. Its still not enough....

All you had to do if you can't get the cv joint screws lose, is take out the pivot joint bolt on the other end of the arm and release the brake line and the hole arm will rotate and rock and move out of the way.

Much advice in the comments, most of it more or less spot on. However, couple more very important ones here. If you wish to retain the use of your legs for future use, learn how to install proper jack stands under the bus. You had the weight of the bus supported solely by a hydraulic jack. Bad idea! Same for working with those chinese safety boots. i think they still make real shoes.

Dude, you don't need to hack the fuck out of stuff with a grinder for this job- Shit, there's no need to use a grinder for most jobs, bodywork excluded.
There's enough room to take the hub carriers out of the way and get the spring plates out without completely ruining them, which is what you've done.
Even if something had gone completely tits up and you couldn't swing them out of the way, the non-dickhead method is to unbolt the driveshafts.
I'm sure you're proud of your work and all, but stuff like this is dangerous.

Get the axle loose no matter what it takes, no excuse. Then buy dropped arms, not changing spline location! See Atom werks for why!

cool songs in background, hunger strike by temple of the dog, shame you couldn't get your axles off

Dude, no hate but check out marbleknight here on UA-cam: he did it without cutting a thing with a grinder nor disconnecting the CV joint. If you cut a piece of any of your bones in your body won't that weaken that bone?
