"Fun" fact: Japanese used to go study medicine in Germany, which is why quite a few German words have made it into the Japanese medical vocabulary (such as "Schaukasten") and you might still find a few really old doctors who speak German. Nowadays, students go to the US instead.

a bit unrelated but my mom recently brought home a sampler (a piece of embroidery) that's from Germany and while I was helping her translate it we realized the Japanese word for part-time job, arubiato (アルバイト), likely was derived from Arbeit, the German word for work! so fascinating to see how languages influence each other
I remember when I was little(like 20 years ago), I saw my Japanese pediatrician who was about my grandma's age, and she used to write the medical records in German.
Now I get it, that’s why MONSTER is based in germany!!

I think what the butler meant is Azusa married *~out~* of the Ayashiro family, not *~in~* to it; meaning she is the younger brother of Kanji and the older brother of Jiro biologically, but has now married someone and therefore has a new last name now. If that makes sense? At least, that’s what I gathered anyway.
i thought so too but at 40:47 the main character refers to her as ms kiku's niece? its kinda confusing
I kind of assumed she was either married to Jiro or Kanji, but I'm not certain.
The butler said she married into the KASUGA family. Thats why she has a different last name. She's originally an Ayashiro, Kanji and Jiro's sister. Edit: wrong spelling

@@beeeeeeees That's because Kanji, Azusa, and Jiro are Kiku's niece and nephews. Toasty thought it was odd she had no children or grandchildren of her own at the reading. Possibly she never had children, it did not say.
I've never seen characters that actually look like they're breathing like that lolll. This is great! I saw this in the Nintendo switch store and was super interested in this game.

@@YoMama9021 yea it is..but unlike other yters, her output is a bit more frequent. so cannot undermine that work rate she puts out. Some even gave up on regular youtube to transition to twitch because its less work more money. not only that but she still manages to fit in games that aren't hugely popular.
I don't like equating putting content out every day to caring about your audience. That's exactly the thing that makes so many great UA-camrs burnout.
I think it's interesting that she has such a huge female audience. Usually there's a bunch of horny dudes and "m'lady" dorks in the comments on channels like this.
Oo, so nice with a mystery game! It’s so cozy watching you play these. Did you choose to place the camera on the left to avoid blocking parts of the game? I would have loved to see the menu where you choose what to do.

I'm really enjoying this one. The soothing music and the calm gameplay is a nice change of pace from the chaotic gameplay from most games on YT. That it's also about solving mysteries is a big plus.
Voices really help to enjoy more of the personalities from some characters in this type,of games. Hope other franchises keep this model cause it’s a nice add on.
I always come back to this series, one of my favorites!

I have been SO hype for this playthrough ever since you announced that you would play it. This is like a Japanese Indie, HOG, and Nancy drew game all wrapped up in one. Its going to be a great cozy time.
You are right, it was Nobunaga, Hideyoshi and Tokugawa who united fighting clans. After victorious siege of Osaka The Tokugawa shogunate was established.
The cat transition at 22:49 is gold. It's the little touches that really add up
I love how Gabs is thinking about reading out some of the dialogue for the watchers that may be looking away or multitasking with other things. My heart is soft.
Watching this playthrough after having seen the 1976 film version of The Inugami Family is quite interesting. It's pretty clear that this was heavily, uh..."inspired" by it. (Which isn't a bad thing! "Suspicious death within a feuding family with a long history" is a great hook for a mystery)
The game looks BEAUTIFUL! I think it’s really cool that they remade such an old game. In a way it kinda allows the game to extend beyond its generation and I like that about it. I think there are a lot of really interesting stories that we miss out on because they’re lost to time, so even if it’s something like this where it’s not like it’s ancient or anything I like that it can be made more accessible for newer generations with a fresh coat of paint so to speak. This is great!
It’s been a while to watch Gab play a Japanese dubbed game! And so interesting to see Gab keep nodding and bowing when speaking Japanese (like me when speaking Japanese lol) can’t wait to see chapter 2!

I remember Nintendo really pressing these games and having good promo for them in May and early June prior to them being released and I actually thought of Gabs so I am glad she got around to playing them.

I have been taking classes and studying for a maths exam for the last 2-ish months and it's left me so little spare time, but I had my final class last week (exam is on the 14th) so I can finally catch up on your wonderful channel. I'm so excited for this game, it looks so fun!

I love that you play games like these seeing as though i have the same hankering for puzzle solving games as well. My favorite Nintendo puzzle games are from the LEVEL-5 developers, Professor Layton and Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. You should definitely give them a try! Really fun to play. 😄

This was quite a bit more interesting than I expected. It's a little hard to keep up with if I'm not actively watching (I often play things in the background because ADHD) because I don't know Japanese nearly well enough to translate audio. It is nice to listen to, though, and if I can get back into doing lessons again, I imagine it might help with "immersion learning".
That said, I do actually like hearing you read dialogue and other text. I think that's one of the cool things about watching gameplays. Every player has their own way about how they read and how they play, so it's fun to see even the same games played by different people. ^^

This main character absolutely cannot be human. He can survive a fall from A REALLY DAMN TALL CLIFF, folliage be damned, AND he can hear people speaking to him when he's at the BASE of the cliff, while they're right at the top???? Who is this guy?

I played these games as soon as they released and my first thought when I had finished them was that they were right up your alley and that it'd be so cool if you did a playthrough of them. Every time I hear the name Ayashiro, it makes me think of Oyashiro from Higurashi haha I know that it’s unlikely, but I’d love to see you play through the Higu visual novels! They’re a great horror/mystery series. :)

I'm sure a heart failure can be induced somehow so the theory that the doc is in it is pretty credible, maybe one of the nephews payed him to help kill the woman, i mean dying right in that night? too much to be a simple coincidece.
but also the protag having no memories, no parents and the incident on the cliff(I'm pretty sure it wasn't an accident, he was pushed or chased) maybe he is somehow involved in this family like related to them somehow.
dang i can't wait to see more of this game and who did it after all, maybe a plot twist
now that i realize, the protag was there before and i think the colleague lady said he discovered something about this case before losing his memories so maybe he found some secrets and the cliff incident was a try to dispose of him

Btw. The characters are most likely not 3D models but made with something called „live2D“. So they consist of different layers on top of each other to animate and give a 3D-ish feeling. (They have all the telltale signs that it is live2D)
Even though the VN play through is done, but just wanted to say I appreciate your approach to the Japanese voice over. This one’s a really nicely illustrated re-boot.
21:05 Nobunaga was *close* to uniting Japan. He died in 1582 (iirc) due to one of his retainers, Mitsuhide Akechi, betraying him and burning him alive in Honnōji Temple/Castle (idr which it was, but I think it was a temple!). Hideyoshi Toyotomi ended up uniting everyone after Nobunaga died, but then he died and then Sekigahara happened and it was the Ishida army VS the Tokugawa army. Ieyasu Tokugawa won, Mitsunari Ishida was executed and then the land was totally united.

I really wish Gab would read it all. Well, I know a lot of people probably would disagree with me because it has subtitles in English already. It's understandable. I like hearing Gab's voice reading something. It's like she keeps me company because I always play Gab's playthrough while working.
But, oh well, whatever she does is fine =)
As a person who often puts your vids as sort of company while i practice quick draws i would appreciate you reading all the dialogues after the voice acting is done!

This game looks really promising so far! It's chill and cozy after the adrenaline ride that Resi 4 and Intergrade was. Also it reminds my of an anime called The Files of Young Kindaichi, which is one of my favourites. Such fond memories! As always, loving this playthrough!
VNs are my favorite type of video game, when I heard you were playing this next I really looked forward to it, which is actually why I waited a few days to start it! I'm sure that's bad for The Algorithm :( but I really like to have that perfect VN mood 😅 The art and voice acting are so good!
My guess so far is that Akane and Zenzou know more, but they had their reasons for not telling that information, I don't think they're suspicious! Yet! lol. And Amachi looked so sincere while rescuing me...
Couldn't tell if the burn mark had been there before, since I don't think you examined the room and that spot was covered by Zenzou's body. Perhaps some clues if the room is further examined. I bet I'll find out, in the episode!
