You can really hear the intricate nuances of the felt hammers hitting the strings, it sounds just like you're in the Steinway show room hearing the finest piano
It made me smile not once did they show his face. This was so wildly entertaining, never knew he also played this and other instruments beyond just the guitar.
I'm a huge fan of John's. Something about them not showing his face at all makes this really amusing to me. This is how you make an ad for a watch. I love vintage casio keyboards, I've got a couple, and knowing the inspiration for the watch was this keyboard makes me want the watch.
This is wild. I had this EXACT Casio PT-1 in blue when I was a little kid in the 80’s. The image of it and more so the sound bring back so many memories. I never even knew how to play piano, and what you could do with this little toy of a keyboard was extremely limited. But I used to love just fiddling around with it. It was laying around somewhere in my bedroom growing up for years and years. No idea where it ended up. Likely sold for a few bucks at a garage sale. But who knows, it could still be up in my parents’ attic.
I got the Casio PT-1 keyboard for Christmas in Kindergarten. Mine was pastel pink with soft teal and coral accents and I would probably cry if there was a watch themed after it. I spent almost every waking hour trying to figure out (a very basic) Chariots of Fire by ear and was made to take piano lessons after I did. I instantly rebelled against practicing and reading music and never touched an instrument in front of my parents again. 😂 I can't play a lick, but I’d wear the heck out of that watch.
Same. Seems like it's been going down the 💩 er recently. This was a surprising unexpected catching video. Hope he still makes something like this once a month. So video can capture me from beginning to end
I had one of these growing up. As a matter of fact, this was my first introduction to a musical instrument. Never stopped playing since. I play the guitar now.
I had the predecessor to this Casio keyboard as kid back in the late 70s early 80s. I think it was the first electronic keyboard Casio ever made. It didn’t even have a piano like keyboard like this, just buttons arranged in a keyboard like formation. It’s claim to fame was that it was used by a German Industrial Rock artist/band on their one hit wonder song that climbed up the charts in the UK and Europe back in the (very!) early 80s. I remember watching the singer with said keyboard in hand performing on Top Of The Pops. I just wish I could remember the model number. I might still have it lying around somewhere, but haven’t used or even laid eyes on it in decades!
We need another full blown episode with John talking about watches. That’s what kept me most entertained and I know NOTHING about the world of watches.
@@ptdakos I’m frequently and uncomfortably surrounded by hardcore feminists and other leftists that trash John Mayer whenever his name comes up. It takes quite a bit of self-control on my end not to say anything to them lol
@@alexchng I can see why though, he was in the wrong in some cases those years back. I think it's superfluous to expect people, especially celebrities to behave in the right way all the time.
OMG. I used to have a g-shock that looked just like this when I was a kid but it was in yellow (it gave me a hell of a rash). Years later, I bought my first CD, Room for Squares. I learned to play like John Mayer learning through tabs (shout out to sympatico! If you know, you know.) I'm going to buy this just for the nostalgia it brings to my actual life. I love you John. Thank you for the last 20 years. Your music has impacted me more than I even know.
I had one of those as a kid in the 1980s. My mother found it and gave it to my stepbrother (a musician) 2 yrs ago for Xmas. He was politely bewildered at the joke. If only this had come out first! 😂 I would have gotten him the matching watch! 🆒
I used to love those 2 big buttons at the top right corner. If you had a sloppy performance recorded...never fear...you could replay the steps using those 2 buttons! Maybe speed it up or leave a note late for that dramatic effect.
The part about the C up top is spot on, I own one of these and it’s beyond frustrating trying to work with it sometimes. It feels impossible to get it to sound good most of the time
This was a really fun fun video! Love the emotion of John Mayer into watches, gadgets and memories. Love his storytelling. I am also very existed that I bought one. Couldn't buy the first 2 but will definitely have then 2nd hand.
I know this is going to sound crazy but just before the release of this watch, when I saw the photo teaser of a Casio keyboard on Hodinkee a thought came to me. "Wow, this is awesome, John Mayer is collaborating with Casio and Hodinkee to come up with a new mini keyboard. I hope it has a few extra features that John would've liked to see when he was a kid." The watch actually looks great but I was sooo...disappointed!
Cool video but terrible customer experience in the shop… at time of purchase, your app stated free shipping & then went along to charge 15$ (50$ for Canadians) when the Casio website offered it for free.
That is the most realistic sounding piano patch I’ve ever heard. Simply beautiful
It’s dogshit wym
I'm torn between if it's bosendorfer or Steinway sampled!

He has a song he plays on piano called You're Gonna Live Forever In Me
This was the best G-shock advert they can come up with.

Hodinkee: we need a way to justify a Tiffany blue Gshock
John Mayer: hold my AP
how tf is this tiffany blue for f sake

John Mayer Special Edition Washer/Dryer with jingles written and performed by John Mayer himself in baby blue is all I ever want for xmas.
What a lovely looking PT-1
I didn't know I needed John Mayer making Pokemon music
