Thanks for the comment.
Hello Colleen, from another Colleen! I have just watched your video on putting together the bias strips and am so thankful to have come across such a simple explanation of exactly what I have been doing wrong. I had previously been a fan of the continuous bias binding method, drawing out the lines on the fabric and only sewing two seams together but I could never cut the strips out neatly enough so switched to the traditional way of joining individual bias strips that are cut with a rotary cutter. I was doing exactly what you said not to do when sewing the strips together and then wondering why my strips were not lining up nicely. Having watched your video, I think I’ve mastered the technique and now managed to make five meters of beautiful bias binding. Thank you so much for sharing.
Hello Colleen! Thank you sew much for such a kind comment. What project are you going to use the five meters of bias?
I am making a number of little dresses for the Samaritan’ Purse - Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes and like to have my bias binding ready and to hand so I can batch sew without having to make individual bias strips for each individual dress.
@@colleendouglas4405 Wow Colleen! Good luck and it's for a good cause.
Thanks I tried it and it works most of the time, with practice it will get more consistent I hope thanks for your tutorial

Happy to hear that you find my tutorials helpful.
It's been so long since I made bias, I'd forgotten how to do it! I knew it should end up diagonal, but couldn't work it out, so thank you :)
Just happy to help a little. Thanks for your comment.
My pleasure Jean.
Thank you for this tutorial. It would have really helped me to visualize this if you had used fabric with a design on one side. But of course listening closely meant I finally understood it was right side to right side to join.
Thanks for sharing Louise, and for taking the time to comment.
Perfect as always. Very professional. Thank you again.
gosh I wish i'd watched this years ago! Brilliant tutorial, thank you.

You are very welcome Severina, and thank you for taking the time to comment.
No, I don't have a bias tape maker. As for your other question, it all depends on how often you use bias tape. If you use it only every now and again, I'd say this is the best and easiest way. If you use a lot, then other methods may well be better.
Thank you very clearly explained
So nice of you to say so Janet! Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Thank you so much! I don't know why I couldn't figure this out myself!
No problem Susan, I'm happy I could be of help.

Thank you!!!! In the middle of a project now : )
Wonderful Sheila! Glad I could help.
@@colleenglea very sweet... thank you. I saw three different ways.... yours seems the most logical to me : ) I am making a linen tank top and binding neck and armholes with homemade bias tape... also a first for me.
Did I mention I am in Ohio and we have had well over 2 feet of snow in less than a week and this is the second full week of day temps in the 20's?
Boy... when it hits 30 I may be shoveling in my linen tank. Hahaha
Stay safe and warm, Colleen.
@@sheilagaleano365 Good luck with your project Sheila, and thanks for sharing. Enjoy the snow, and the same to you.
I started trying to use it more when quilting but would love to learn how to use it clothes because turning down a thin arm whole on a kids dress is hard work since I don't own a serger yet. I will defiantly use bias tape on it know the only thing I have problems with is making sure it stays were it needs to so that it doesn't look homemade. I'm still working on that part.
Thank you! So helpful!
No problem Roxanne, thanks for commenting.
Thank you! Very helpful and I appreciate the video gets right to it!
You're very welcome Tiffany! What project are you using with this technique?
@@colleenglea binding the raw edges of pockets and wait band of a pair of pants. I had some scrap fabric and wanted to make my own bias tape with it. Thanks again

awesome and simple, you are wonderful! thanks hon!
Thank you.
My pleasure.
sewing bias bindings---video is great; I just need to see a fabric that has an obvious color so I can easily visualize "right sides" & "wrong sides" of the fabric rather than all white. thanks !
Thanks for your suggestion.
Do you have a video on how you cut the diagonal? Also, does this work with premade double fold bias tape?
Perfect just what i needed. Thank you so much.
thank you, Colleen!

Thank you that’s brilliant
Thank you!
fantastic tutorial.
Thank you, most helpful!
Thank you. It would be helpful to know how to cut the bias strip. If you use a print fabric clearly showing the side to sew it would be easier to understand.
Thank you for taking the time to comment Kathy.
