    At a full 10g less than my main BabyTooth, that thing is pure AWESOME and really a class of its own. If anyone wants to see the very lazy way I build mine by comparison, here's the build video that will be public when the parts are in stock in about a week.

    I actually call these gemfan props medium weight. Like you said, I believe they could be maybe even half as heavy as it is. The motor size had to be balanced for this prop and the hopeful future props that may come that are lighter.

      Oh one question. For the reny screws are they easy cut down for length? Would it make sense to buy a pack of long ones and just cut them down to length or will that not work with these?

Right now we have five boxes sitting in shipping depots waiting to move and make it to us. The whole world has slowed down a LOT due to this virus. Things we were supposed to have three months ago are still in processing. Believe me when I tell you I wish I could get it all here now now now NOW! Like others have commented, it would be super useful to have an expert do a build and flight video of a very similar toothpick with more obtainable parts. The closest screws I could find (for USA) was a "Reny Like" screw set, where the nuts were regular nylon, at $28USD for 50 pieces. Also, we could use a motor alternative that's easier to find in stock, like a 1202, 1202.5, or 1203 motor. Thanks for your hard work!

    • @MrShutterBug
      @MrShutterBug  4 роки тому

      You don't have to use all the specialty screws. The frame comes with steel screws, and it will still fly quite nicely that way. These are the motors that I recommend. I'm told they will be back in stock by Monday. If you want to try something else, then go for it. Hopefully I gave you some ideas. ;-)

    Love this class as this will open it up for 2.5" and 3" park racing clubs. The nearest field we have to us is 2 hrs and another 3+ hours to fly 5 inch. Much rather drive 5 to 10 min to hang with family and friends to race at the park. Also.... love this size at it will allow for the kid and I to race around the yard without bugging the neighbors. Thanks again for sharing.... this is getting me motivated.... just need help with the betaflight aspect of this sport/hobby.

      In this video (ua-cam.com/video/gL1DxUFjFq8/v-deo.html) Josh Bardwell shows how to remap resources, including motor resources. You'll need to swap resources for motors 1&3, and motors 2&4. The board orientation is set on the configuration tab in betaflight. Just set roll to 180. Then save, and go back to the setup screen with the 3D model of the quad and make sure it moves the way it should when you move the quad in your hand. Good luck.

    Your weight focused video was amazing thank you very much ! My TP3 frame is actually being retro fitted at the moment because I went with heavier components and assuredly much less detail than your meticulous build. I started off WRONG with beta FPV motors in 1202 x 5000KV and my Cam is a Run Cam Nano V2 and a fairly heavy VTX from Flywoo the Goku. It rivals the TBS Nano but has a case for a heat sink. I may replace that. I'm going up in motor size to 1404 to achieve a better preforming little Toothpick. I hope $$ conditions work out that I can just do a fresh build, on a new TP3 frame . Oh I have a Crossfire Nano Tx in this build as well , so I;d love a tiny little AxII on it . I notices you didn't mount a capacitor ... I was cool with a heavier toothpick but my weight ratio wasn't preformant with the chosen motors ... Again thank you for the video I appreciated it . These FlyWoo Xing motors look awesome I may not be able to wait for a new TP3 frame and a new AIO Diatone board.

    Awesome video!!!! Even cooler quad!!!! Ive been flying 5 inch freestyle/racing for about 4 weeks now. Would you recommend this as something i could practice with around the backyard? What im asking is, would this aid me in becoming an all around better pilot for my 5 inch set ups?

      The best way to get better is to keep flying and to keep pushing yourself. Whoops and toothpicks have definitely helped me get better because I can get stick time anywhere, and I can take changes without breaking stuff.

    well, even the flight controller is no longer available. :-( I'm looking at the Emax Nanohawk X, I would **LOVE** to hear what you think about it before pulling the trigger. NURK FPV loved it... (and its props are lighter than the Gemfan too!)

    Amazing build ! If i understood correctly, the motors are plugged, there are no solder ?

    • @MrShutterBug
      @MrShutterBug  4 роки тому

      I removed the plugs and soldered the wires directly to the FC, but you don't have to do that. If flew great before I removed the plugs as well.

    Hey ShutterBug.... can you use one of the xm+ antenna's to replace the stock one? Just not sure of length. My build came out chunky right at the 55g mark lol.

      No thanks. A GoPro Session 4 is like 70g. A GoPro Hero 8 is like 125g. This whole quad with its battery is just 46g!

    I have a question about the Reny screws. I’m considering ordering the M 3 30 mm Reny screws for my stacks in my 5 inch quad. There just for the stack no arm support. So my question is is Reny brittle? Compared to nylon is it brittle?

    I know I'm a bit late. I converted a trashcan to a fabulous baby toothpickp. Tune was hard. I'm using 2s (300+300 mah), throttle scaled 50%, P 40, D 90 and I 5(!!!). Am I risking anything? Motors are cool.

    • @MrShutterBug
      @MrShutterBug  4 роки тому

      Wow, that's a crazy tune! I think your difficulty comes from the fact that you are scaling throttle. I suggest reverting to a normal tune, and then set the motor output limit instead of the throttle limit. Motor output limit is much better for this because it scales the output AFTER the PID controller which prevents crazy overshooting. The trashcan has 15,000KV motors right? I suggest running your toothpick on 1S and only scale the motor output a little. Like "set motor_output_limit = 80". Do do not suggest running it on 2S, but if you want to, then set something closer to "set motor_output_limit = 40". Good luck. :-) Oh, and I suggest using betaflight 4.2 for this.

    Hey. I'm attempting to get some weight out of my babytooth. Did you ever run into issue using the BT2.0 connector? I have the HDZero whooplite board and the 13 mm FPV cycle motors. Not sure if that's going to be too much for the BT2.0 connector.

    • @MrShutterBug
      @MrShutterBug  Рік тому

      Bob Roogie (creator of the Babytooth) swears that XT30 is better. He might be right, but BT2.0 has worked fine for my builds.
