    Your video randomly showed up in my feed, ironically just a couple of days before I'm about to build my new rig.
    There's some cool solutions that I'll bring on over to my new setup, and as a music and equipment nerd, I've been looking at solutions for individual volume control, and that Korg Nano is perfect, specially considering it's price! Not sure how I've missed that in the past, and I've been prepared to to cash out for the GoXLR, but the Korg even has more controls at a fraction of the price, win win!
    Thanks for the overview, nice to have some indepth and detailed videos on this subject, not too many of them around. :)

    Great set up. Deciding between a 49" ultrawide or triples. Looks like you're racing with a 49" and wondered what would you recommend? (Currently racing on 34" ultrawide but can't see anything out the sides)

      @nerdthewise  2 роки тому +1

      This is my second ultrawide, so you can tell where my decision landed. There's too many moving pieces to answer succinctly, but short answer: Triples are better for iRacing only, but even with a 3090 can struggle to hit 120+hz, if you plan on playing anything else though a single screen will be a lot easier to live with and take up a lot less room.

    For the mouse I'm using a trackball mouse. After seeing your setup I think a ram mount with the mouse could be a good combo for making the mouse a "part of the rig" as opposed to something I just keep on the side and hope doesn't fall off.
    Love how seriously you take the little details. Keep up the cool work!

      So long as you don’t have any tactile feedback that sounds great! But the moment you add shakers to the setup having a mouse attached becomes a big problem. Would that it weren’t, but that’s what forced my to keep a little table next to the rig.

    • @cudb
      @cudb 3 роки тому

      @@nerdthewise Right that's exactly why I went with a trackball mouse for my setup. I'm hoping to suspend it with a ram mount in a spot that's easy to reach.

    did you have to modify the Frex to get it hard mounted like that?

      White on black tape from a cheap label maker ;)

    Nice updates. Think the only thing on my rig I wouldn’t be willing to get rid of is my ProSim.
    Finally got a SC2 Pro and sold my DD2. Based off my short experience with the SC2 with default profiles for AC and AM2. I can’t believe how much better it feels then DD2. I think it blows it out of the water.
    I may have some questions about TrueDrive. It’s pretty serious and I’m a bit lost.

    • @nerdthewise
      @nerdthewise  3 роки тому

      That was my experience as well. Here are my profiles for iRacing you can start with and get a feel for what settings I am using my general car type. I generally race around 80% of full power or ~20nm.

      If there is curiosity out there for it, I can put together a short walkthrough video with what I have learned about setting up profiles in True Drive.

    Damn man...amazing rig and amazing thought went into that rig! Im just starting(small apartment with my soon-to be fiance) so I still have my fanatec rig mounted to the desk :D
    How did you mount and power these fans on top and what about cable menagement?
    That Korg Nano is perfect for windows sound control, need to buy it!

    • @nerdthewise
      @nerdthewise  3 роки тому

      If you watch the original one from ~9 months ago I cover most of that. Fans are just mounted with ram mounts and cable routing is mostly done with twist in cable anchors and zip ties.

    How do you like the Frex shifter? Can you up the resistance any noticeable amount? I've been thinking about getting one but I like a pretty heavy shifter.

    • @nerdthewise
      @nerdthewise  3 роки тому +1

      The Frex is good for the price. No where near as heavy as the Pro-sim, but unless you are using it very regularly I don't know if you will notice the difference. Much shorter throw as well, good for MX-5 and Lotus 79, but feels a touch silly if you were racing cup cars or something bigger.

    How do you find the G9? Trying to decide between triples, VR, and an ultrawide

    Nice set up, but no VR i see... strange

    • @nerdthewise
      @nerdthewise  3 роки тому +2

      I've tried VR, but not found it to be a good fit for me. The heat and the inability to see dashes, buttons, etc... are enough to trip me into selling it. That said, I am open to trying it again in the future, particularly with the much more capable machine I have now.

    • @SURG3NT
      @SURG3NT 3 роки тому

      @@nerdthewise yes defo more horse power is required to have a good experience in VR, I use the HP reverb G2 and I jus find I’m so much quicker in VR, but I do like playin on flat screens too I’m just better in VR with consistency.

    • @nerdthewise
      @nerdthewise  3 роки тому

      @@SURG3NT For me I think overall speed is a wash, but the added awareness is definitely nice. The heat buildup and lack of awareness of my surroundings has been enough to keep me from trying again to this point. I did have an Index in my cart a couple months ago before ultimately deciding to wait. I am thinking about it, just not sure if it is worth the investment for me yet.

    • @SURG3NT
      @SURG3NT 3 роки тому +1

      @@nerdthewise tbh mate the awareness is one of its strongest points, full 360 degree vision, I find sense of speed more accurate aswell, VR headsets have come a long way now from the early gen, guess different people how different views tho

    • @Hani_Santa
      @Hani_Santa 3 роки тому

      @@SURG3NT Jep I agree I also have the HP reverb g2, VR is on another level. The biggest con in VR is to keep 90fps lol, it's extremly heavy ACC is basically not playable. And I do find the fov can be a lot better in the future, for an even better sense of speed. But yeah VR is so much more immersive than screens, there is just no comparison really. And I am also more consistent and you learn tracks way faster just like real life. But if you have a big ass monitor like Brandon Boyd it's also a lot of fun and immersive.
