Oh what a party! I've already watched the video twice and just can't quit laughing. This is gonna be one of those videos that people will be watching again and again. So much more entertaining than an Easter Egg Hunt! On another note, Gizzy had a tiny snowflake glistening on his sweet little ear and it looked like his ear was pierced with a wee diamond. Now every time I see his wonderful little face I'm going to imagine he has his diamond stud in his ear!
I know that pain. When i was throwing nuts in the grass. Fluffy babies had a very hard times findind them. So what i was doing is to put or throw them at the same place all the time. But you just have to clean the patio 😅🐿🩵🩷😇
Looking back at one of your previous videos where I commented that they will come out in cold weather if they think food is available to compensate. One thing that will keep them in their nests is icy branches creating dangerous conditions.
@@morgannstryffe oh, absolutely! Wind is horrible hawk conditions around here, and icy branches are of course a danger always. Also, I notice the more mature squirrels avoid the deep snow. We had a hawk keep flying through today. I think he was taking advantage of seeing footprints in the snow + reduced ability to run. His speed is not affected by the snow, but the squirrels’ is. There is very little activity on snow days for all of these reasons.
@@Littleanimalsarecute Oh wow. That makes sense, the snow slowing the squirrels down but not the hawks. We just got a bunch of snow and the squirrels don't like being in it. The first day they were staring at me helpless (afraid of the snow) so I made a bunch of feeders out of water jugs and hung them everywhere so they didn't have to go on the ground. It never occurred to me they were afraid they couldn't escape predators in the snow. They are braving the snow now. I've made paths for them but they don't like them for some reason.
So funny to see someone living my life. Feeding and getting to know the squirrels, worrying about hawks, trying to make hiding places ...I learned a few things from you too. Love your show. Do you grow nuts on your property? I'm going to plant some hazelnuts here because I want the squirrels to still have food if anything happens to me.
@@jj-tv3cd Talk about living each other’s lives!!! Yes, I planted hazelnut trees. For the exact same reason as you. And the deer demolished them before they could become anything!! Hopefully you don’t have deer. I had such high hopes! I’d have to build a deer-proof cage if I were to try it again. Thank you for writing!! So happy to hear there’s more out there. And very curious about your hides. Do you arrange normal people-stuff, or arrange nature stuff, build, some combo thereof? I used to leave a car outside, which was a great squirrel hide. But then smaller animals took up residence in it 😂

If you were giving them peanuts in the shell they would smell them better. Ive noticed with our squirrels some nuts just are easier to find.😊😊😊

They really don't see the nuts in snow, you will be shoveling a lot of them unless you clear the deck first Amy, I know I have to do this also 😊😊
