    Haymitch's little appreciative nod and glass raise to Peeta when he does the announcement about the baby is probably my favourite part of the movie. That was one hell of a great one to throw out there to cause a ruckus.

      @@VerowakReacts The Hunger Games were pretty big when they came out. It is the first film that started the global craze for dystopian young adult book adaptations. After it came Maze Runner, and Divergent, but they are nowhere near as good. As for HP, I think it is so popular because it stretched across an entire decade, so many young people were basically raised on it. I think HP is also just appealing to the larger audience + the world is more detailed and attractive.

    "Girl wake up, you never get off this train" is one of the most heartbreaking thing a character says in this series. Because Haymitch knows that Snow lied , even though he says he doesn't lie. The promise is if you win the Hunger Games, you get rich and you get to live the rest of your life in peace. But in truth, you become a slave to the Capitol and they kill your loved ones if you don't do what they say how they say it. So the winners are not really the victors because they will spend the rest of their lives re-living the hunger games over and over again and doing whatever else the Capitol tells them to do (Finnick is the greatest example). The winners are the people who died, because at least they are free

    • @VerowakReacts
      @VerowakReacts  Рік тому +7

      It really is! People assume that you win, retire and you're good... but that's not the case at all. I was iffy on Haymitch at the start but I like him more and more as the movies go on, he's been through lots. The winners of the games really end up having a horrible life a lot of times

    the thing with Effie is she works for the capitol as a escort for the tributes. she is into the glamour and parties and such but can't get emotionally involved with the tributes because every year she get two new ones who just end up dead. that is what makes the difference in her between the first movie and this one. Same goes for Haymitch as mentor.

    I feel like the movies don’t make it clear but Peeta painted that picture of rue on the floor as his own act of rebellion, that inspired katniss to also hang up the dummy like that. It wasn’t anyone trying to mess with her, I guess it’s not obvious because Peeta only gives her a look when they walk past each other.
    Also in the movies they don’t show how the victors were all banded together instead made them try to intimidate her when she walks in which is why you said they look like psychos, I kind of wish they did a bit like in the book with all the victors having this close bond, they all helped each other during the training, even the ones not in the plan and they’d all sit together during lunches and joke about what they’re going to do to present their ‘skill’ and said they’ll just model or nap for 15 minutes. Then again I think maybe the movie just wanted to have them all just seem threatening?
    Also Finnick who was the first ally in the games is the ‘water dude’ he’s also a career because even though the movies just say 1 and 2 are the careers, district 4 which is what finnick is in is also part of the careers, which is why she didn’t trust him even more

      Also Finnick was the one that was good in water lol, not the Career guy. Something else they didn’t really portray was the final character death in the Games, we hear the canon go off and think it’s for Beetee (Bernhard), but it was actually for Brutus (the bald Career) who Peeta actually managed to kill off screen before Katniss blew up the forcefield. The other Career, Enobaria (lady with fangs) survives and is taken by the Capitol with Johanna and Peeta.

    In case you want to know a little bit more about Johanna since you seemed to like her:
    She won the 71th Hunger Games by acting weak (not showing any skills during training, getting a bad score on purpose) so people wouldn’t think of her as a treat and not care much about her. Then when there was only a few tributes left, she revealed her "true identity" and killed all the remaining tributes.
    Since she was judged attractive by the Capitol, President snow asked her to become a prostitute, which happened to Finnick and Cashmere (blonde girl from district 1). However since she refused, Snow killed all her friends and family, which is why in the movie she says something about not having anyone left that she loves.
