People who hate on Peeta make no sense to me. Like if you don't like or care for him, that's fine, but the people who full on HATE Peeta are just so weird to me. All they will say is "oh he has to be rescued all the time".......like that's all they got and they know it😭 that's the only "flaw" that Peeta has, which shouldnt be SUCH A BIG DEAL when it comes to his character, but whatever......if you like it i LOVE IT😭i just dont understand why Peeta's combat ability affects so many peoples opinions of him. He is strong, he just doesnt really know how to use that strength, and thats fine, not everyone does. And besides, Katniss may protect Peeta physically, but Peeta protects Katniss emotionally. they protect each other, just in different ways, but both ways are important

Like katniss has better skills from hunting experience her whole life. Peeta is strong but has only applied it to tossing flour sacks. Katniss has a lot of survival skills but literally turned herself off emotionally because of her environment. Especially in the books it's clear that Peeta was the more emotionally developed and katniss was more survival adept until katniss gave peeta advice and peeta gave katniss the love when she needed it.
This. Honestly, many teenagers would be in this same situation… like how many have the skills to fight to the death? Aside from the Careers, they’re all just doing their best with the crappy hand they’ve been dealt.
Also, in the books, the cut Cato gave him in the first games was so severe he had to get an amputation, so during the quarter quell, he’s working with a prosthetic leg. and i feel like the movies leaving that out but keeping his “weaknesses “ was ill fated and not fair to his character

The first games he created the love story, here he killed the guy in the water, he got burned because he was helping Katniss, he volunteered to be there with her, got the pendant made for her, Peeta been a rider. Katniss’ tourniquet was too tight (after she found him by the river). The medicine from the “Feast” only cured his blood poisoning, it didn’t magically heal all the damage. I wish they kept that detail in, because Peeta was given a prosthetic leg and it explains why he couldn’t outrun the fog. He saved Katniss’ life more than once.
I felt so bad for Haymitch during this movie, man. The Quarter Quell happens every 25 years and every Quarter Quell has a different spin. In the first Quarter Quell the Districts were forced to vote for the tributes themselves, cementing the fact it was the rebels fault for betraying the Capitol and it’s their actions which caused the atrocities. In the Second Quarter Quell there was twice as many tributes, so 48 tributes instead of 24 (two girls and two boys from each District) to show the Districts twice as many rebels died than the Capitol citizens in the revolt. Haymitch won during the Second Quarter Quell, and the odds were very much stacked against him considering there was twice as many people, and only one person from District 12 had ever won the games before. He survived until the end (him and one other tribute) and journeyed to the edge of the map, where the other tribute threw an axe at him. He ducked and the axe hit the force field and the axe propelled back and killed the other tribute instead. Snow saw this as an act of defiance and ‘cheating the system’ so when Haymitch won Snow ordered Haymitch’s entire family to be killed. Every year since (24 years!) Haymitch has been forced to mentor children and watch them be brutally killed, knowing there is nothing he can do. Katniss and Peeta are truly his life-line, but as he says ‘there is no getting off this train’ In the books, we see Katniss watch Haymitch’s game in preparation for the Quarter Quell, which is absolutely heartbreaking but it’s why in the books Katniss becomes aware of the force field in this game and the power they hold. It’s sad because at the time, Haymitch didn’t know about the force field, he literally just ducked and tried not to die. That’s it. Added another level of, wow this is fucked up.
@@turnupthemike_correct. really the movies are quite tame in certain aspects compared to the books. the books are from katniss point of view so you're much more tapped into her mental state, being freely told instead of just shown. quite a few details were left out of the movies as per usual with adaptations, like how peeta loses his leg in catching fire, the mutts from the first movie actually resembled the dead tributes in the book, with one of them looking like rue and having her eyes. Cato, the last tribute left alive from the first movie had received armor as a sponsor and as a result, was being eaten by the mutts all night without dying, and katniss and peeta listened to his screams until morning where she finally mercy kills him. These are a few among the many details that had to be washed to create a.. viewer friendly trilogy. The series is quite brutal.
Haymitch was also clutching his intestines to keep them inside of his body due to a severe sword injury in his final battle of his games. He's one BA MF-er
That interview scene is my favorite scene in the whole franchise, both in the books and the movies. From the way each of the Tributes tries to sway the crowd against the Games (or, in Johanna's case, vent her rage) to Peeta dropping the baby bombshell, the whole thing is just brilliantly put together. Truly great cinema.
I love that for her evaluation she strung up a dummy of Seneca crane. She made sure to let them know that they aren’t lucky to not be in her position, because they are just as easily disposable as she is. Look what Snow did to Crane.
I was surprised when I reread the books earlier this year for the first time since this movie came out. The "love triangle" is still present, but it's much more one-sided and not nearly as forefront as in the movie. The movies do force it quite a bit. 🫤 I think you're the first reactor I've seen to realize it was Peeta who drew that painting of Rue. 😓 I love Joanna, too. She's great.
hmmm im not surprised it isn't as prominent in the books. hollywood love a good love triangle, especially in these movies that target younger audiences
Looking at how they built this arena, they probably had another reason than "good tv" for all these traps. The gamemakers probably knew that the victors would not want to kill each other(apart from maybe some of the careers). They had to make the arena itself lethal enought so that people would die anyway. (At least that is probably what Plutarc told Snow) I dont know if its confirmed, it just makes the most sense.
The second one is definitely my favorite! I love the introduction of Finnick, Joanna and Plutarch. I love how we really start to see the real Effie. Oh, and I've always LOVED Katniss's outfit, at the beginning, with the scarf too!
I love Effie! She’s one of my favorites. And I’ve always been team Peeta. I’m right there with you! Finnick became one of my favorites from the moment he seductively offered Katniss a sugar cube before the parade of champions. He cemented that with how much he felt for sweet old Mags and her sacrifice.
I saw someone say that Suzanne Collins meant for Gale to actually be Katniss' cousin and there wasn't supposed to be a love triangle but the movie producers pushed for it. I don't know how true that is.

It was her editor that pushed for the love story. Originally Suzanne didn’t have the intention of doing it. In terms of marketed and monetary gain the editor was right. The love triangle thing had teen girls in a choke hold and had them all debating “Gale or Peeta”.
Just to calm you because I feel you with the whole Gale shanenigans, in the CF book there were only 2 kisses: the first was when he kissed her and she was shocked and the second was after he was whipped and Katniss was all over the place with her emotions. The moment she kissed him she hoped he wouldn’t remember it in the morning because she isn’t interested in having a relationship with him at all. The movies added this third, unwanted kiss to push the love triangle thing on. In the books it’s so obvious Katniss has absolutely zero feelings for Gale whilst developing feelings for Peeta.
I’d like to add that in the end of the 1st movie, peeta got a prosthetic leg cause he lost too much blood. So when people say he was useless in this movie, it’s mostly because his prosthetic leg makes it much harder for him to survive, let alone run from other tributes. He couldn’t swim, couldn’t run as fast, etc. I’m team Peeta forever lol

I was team Gale for the first watch of the movies because I misinterpreted his and Katniss' relationship at the start and thought they were going steady. So her just kinda drifting towards Peeta seemed cruel. My understanding now is that they were just like lifelong friends with a possibly one sided crush? In which case he's just being jealous and petulant.
i can definitely see that! i think there is an argument for katniss being a bit selfish by kissing and leading both of them on but yes, gale was also being extremely unreasonable at the start here for blaming her for doing what she had to do to survive
That’s not your fault honestly. The movies did a horrible job explaining that Katniss and Gale were just friends prior to the first games. They also made it seem like Gale had more of a chance by inserting scenes between the two that were not in the book. Unfortunately, this meant they took out a lot of Katniss-Peeta scenes to do so. The books made it very clear that Peeta was always going to be the one she would eventually end up with. The Hunger Games films just overlapped with the tail end of the Twilight Saga, so love triangles were all the rage and highly marketable.
Plus in the books katniss was very much in the midst of trauma and didn't want to date anyone and especially have kids with anyone. She didn't completely let the guards down until the end. She cared about them both but was basically unable to have a relationship because she never wanted kids that could end up in the games or live through what she did with her dad dying and mom being catatonic for a couple years
SO GOOD! and yeah gale and katniss at least have that relationship. the romance here just felt abrupt but i think they didn't have enough time to develop it more in the last movie
Actually Katniss knew Gale after Peeta saved her and her family... They have only been friends and hunt companies for some years... They are not life-long best friends... They have not that much history too 😅😅 Gale is just petulant and selfish and irritating because of his one-sided crush and acting jelous for a girl who was never "his" to begin with
@@santangelogaia19he’s a very complex character. I started to dislike him during and after Catching fire, but I can also understand where his jealously and anger comes from. He was in love with Katniss, and during her games she had to play her romance with Peeta and this crushed his chances with her. Also, Katniss’s status as a victor created a degree of separation between them. Gale had to work 6 days a week in the mines whereas Katniss was socialising with capitol people, was rich and now had Peeta as her boyfriend. Gale felt pushed out and no longer important to Katniss. His perspective is wrong, and he doesn’t take into account Katniss’s reluctance and her severe PTSD and stress over Snows threat. Gale can’t move past his jealously and own feelings to be a good friend to Katniss and that’s where I began to dislike him. I understand he loved her, but first and foremost he was Katniss’ best friend and he should’ve been there for her.
Also the thing when you take everything away from the people.... They got nothing to lose. AND I like Effies butterfly costume. Butterfly can symbolize transformation, hope, rebirth, in some cultures even love. And it's in this moment we see her start to change her behavior and open her eyes.

Im really enjoying yoyr reaction to The Hunger Games series. This is my favorite movie of the series but I love the whole series. And while the movies are outstanding, the books are even better. I just recently read them for the 1st time, then immediately read them again. They are that good. I highly recommend the books. So much more details that are left out of the films, just because it would make the movies too long.
I am 100% here for all this Peeta love!!! Catching fire Peeta is just 😍🥵🔥🔥🔥 kind, smart, sweet, charming, funny, strong, protective, loving, handsome...the total package
haha i mean.. in Gale's defense, in the first movie Katniss was either at the Capital or at the games for 90% of the movie. There wasn't a ton of time to build their relationship and have a lot of dialogue between the 2. So it's hard to knock them by saying they didn't have a lot of interaction in the first movie. They weren't around each other ;)

She's got more important things going on. In the movie, they tried to build the same dynamic of 2 guys interested in her but didn't have time w/ gale so imo kind of gave the wrong impression of what was going on. iirc in the books, she was interested in gale but was never really w/ him but I could be wrong. It's been a while.

the studios wanted to push a love triangle because of the success of twilight, suzanne collins fought to not make it a whole plotline in the movies but they still did force it in whenever they could
Okay so the whole thing with Gail why he was at the whipping post was different in the books it was not a heroic act of spearing a peacekeeper who is about to attack an old lady he had basically brought a turkey he had shot to one of his best customers the former's house only to realize he had been taken out and replace and the new hard ass on the power Trip caught him red-handed with you know game he shouldn't have so he's like oh you've been out poaching take him to the square and we're going to basically beat him to death there was actually multiple people who were unconscious around the pole like dude he's knocked out he's bleeding heavily it's over we're not supposed to kill a teenager for this and then basically it went the same way with the three victors going up to defend him and then but he was unconscious as were multiple people who went up to save his life because the headpiece keeper just bash whoever it is over the head and knock them out cold when they say that's enough you're not supposed to kill the kidthe only real difference when the victors came up was katniss got in the way of the whip and the whip smack her across the face so she had an actual welt across her face she wasn't punched she had an actual line from the whip across her face but it didn't really affect the plot of the book then this affected the plot of the movie The only thing is is in the movie it made it a bit more sympathetic for Gail because he was facing the whipping post as a result of trying to save an old woman from being attacked and spearing the s*** out of the new head peacekeeper but in the book it wasn't some heroic deed that got him in that situation
I love that you caught it was Peeta who paid tribute to Rue by painting her on the floor. They don't explain it very well in the movies and its a shame. One more reason to love Peeta.
Gale and Katniss have been best friends their entire lives and he has always been in love with her. Had Peeta not come along she would have ended up with him. I disagree with both statements. They weren’t best friends their whole lives. Katniss met him when she was 11-12. So about 4-5 years. Also, despite what Katniss thinks, I don’t believe she would’ve ended up with Gale. I think a lot of her actions came from guilt because of Peeta as well as being confused about what her true motives were because of the fake love story. Gale himself said that Katniss would only kiss him when she could see he was in pain or sad. It came from a place of sympathy and love, but not romantic love. She cared so much about Gale and hated seeing him hurt, but I don’t think she truly loved him in that way.
Is it just me or is other people salty as hell he skipped past the scene with finick and Katniss I was really looking forward to his reaction to the other tributes especially his reaction to being introduced to an icon like Finick

One thing about Katniss is that we have to remember that she is a teenager throughout all of the books/movies. As much as I hate Gale and the whole story line with Katniss going back and forth between Peeta and Gale, Katniss is just a teenager. Has been close with Gale for so long and then has to be with Peeta to survive. And then fights a back and forth between the man she’s hung out with all her life and the man who saved her life in the games. It’s crazy but honestly so interesting when really thinking about it. I was surprised when I reread the books earlier this year for the first time since this movie came out. The "love triangle" is still present, but it's much more one-sided and not nearly as forefront as in the movie. The movies do force it quite a bit. 🫤

Looking at how they built this arena, they probably had another reason than "good tv" for all these traps.
The gamemakers probably knew that the victors would not want to kill each other(apart from maybe some of the careers).
They had to make the arena itself lethal enought so that people would die anyway.

I love Effie! She’s one of my favorites. And I’ve always been team Peeta. I’m right there with you! Finnick became one of my favorites from the moment he seductively offered Katniss a sugar cube before the parade of champions. He cemented that with how much he felt for sweet old Mags and her sacrifice.
#keeta for lyfe and effie definitely grew on me in this one! finnick was a surprising fave by the end. i loved his relationship with mags ❤️
I saw someone say that Suzanne Collins meant for Gale to actually be Katniss' cousin and there wasn't supposed to be a love triangle but the movie producers pushed for it. I don't know how true that is.

In the books Katniss mentions that she and Gale are like two parts of a whole, and that everyone (including herself) always assumed they'd end up married, even though she can't imagine having kids because of the games. After she and Peeta are pushed into the star-crossed lover roles, their team (including Effie and Haymitch) start the rumour that Gale is her cousin so the public doesn't question the validity of her love for Peeta

It was her editor that pushed for the love story. Originally Suzanne didn’t have the intention of doing it. In terms of marketed and monetary gain the editor was right. The love triangle thing had teen girls in a choke hold and had them all debating “Gale or Peeta”.
Just to calm you because I feel you with the whole Gale shanenigans, in the CF book there were only 2 kisses: the first was when he kissed her and she was shocked and the second was after he was whipped and Katniss was all over the place with her emotions. The moment she kissed him she hoped he wouldn’t remember it in the morning because she isn’t interested in having a relationship with him at all. The movies added this third, unwanted kiss to push the love triangle thing on. In the books it’s so obvious Katniss has absolutely zero feelings for Gale whilst developing feelings for Peeta.

I’d like to add that in the end of the 1st movie, peeta got a prosthetic leg cause he lost too much blood. So when people say he was useless in this movie, it’s mostly because his prosthetic leg makes it much harder for him to survive, let alone run from other tributes. He couldn’t swim, couldn’t run as fast, etc. I’m team Peeta forever lol
In the first Quarter Quell, the 25th Games, each district voted on who would act as tribute, rather than the role being randomly chosen by The Capitol. Haymitch's Hunger Games doubled the number of tributes from 24 to 48, selecting four teens from each district instead of two.
This is so much better and my favorite from the series. This is also the closest to the book. I love Peeta so much!! This is Peeta household!! ❤❤

-As some people said Katniss and Gale are not a thing in the books, just bbfs, its like a one side crush from Gale, that confused Katniss(ngl she gives me aro ace spectrum sometimes, at least to me whos in it).
-After exploding the big pile in the first one Katniss is kinda deaf in one ear.
-Peetas leg ingury was so bad that it had to be cut off thats why they fall infront of the cameras hes getting used to the prostetic.
-Haymitch won the last quarter quell that had 48 kids and not 24. He was the only victor from 12 until Katniss and Peeta.

I was team Gale for the first watch of the movies because I misinterpreted his and Katniss' relationship at the start and thought they were going steady. So her just kinda drifting towards Peeta seemed cruel. My understanding now is that they were just like lifelong friends with a possibly one sided crush? In which case he's just being jealous and petulant.
i can definitely see that! i think there is an argument for katniss being a bit selfish by kissing and leading both of them on but yes, gale was also being extremely unreasonable at the start here for blaming her for doing what she had to do to survive
That’s not your fault honestly. The movies did a horrible job explaining that Katniss and Gale were just friends prior to the first games. They also made it seem like Gale had more of a chance by inserting scenes between the two that were not in the book. Unfortunately, this meant they took out a lot of Katniss-Peeta scenes to do so.
The books made it very clear that Peeta was always going to be the one she would eventually end up with. The Hunger Games films just overlapped with the tail end of the Twilight Saga, so love triangles were all the rage and highly marketable.
Plus in the books katniss was very much in the midst of trauma and didn't want to date anyone and especially have kids with anyone. She didn't completely let the guards down until the end. She cared about them both but was basically unable to have a relationship because she never wanted kids that could end up in the games or live through what she did with her dad dying and mom being catatonic for a couple years
Definitely better than the first one. Gale and Katniss were at least besties before Katniss went in the first games, they have history.
SO GOOD! and yeah gale and katniss at least have that relationship. the romance here just felt abrupt but i think they didn't have enough time to develop it more in the last movie
Actually Katniss knew Gale after Peeta saved her and her family... They have only been friends and hunt companies for some years... They are not life-long best friends... They have not that much history too 😅😅 Gale is just petulant and selfish and irritating because of his one-sided crush and acting jelous for a girl who was never "his" to begin with

@@santangelogaia19he’s a very complex character. I started to dislike him during and after Catching fire, but I can also understand where his jealously and anger comes from. He was in love with Katniss, and during her games she had to play her romance with Peeta and this crushed his chances with her. Also, Katniss’s status as a victor created a degree of separation between them. Gale had to work 6 days a week in the mines whereas Katniss was socialising with capitol people, was rich and now had Peeta as her boyfriend. Gale felt pushed out and no longer important to Katniss. His perspective is wrong, and he doesn’t take into account Katniss’s reluctance and her severe PTSD and stress over Snows threat. Gale can’t move past his jealously and own feelings to be a good friend to Katniss and that’s where I began to dislike him. I understand he loved her, but first and foremost he was Katniss’ best friend and he should’ve been there for her.

Im really enjoying yoyr reaction to The Hunger Games series. This is my favorite movie of the series but I love the whole series. And while the movies are outstanding, the books are even better. I just recently read them for the 1st time, then immediately read them again. They are that good. I highly recommend the books. So much more details that are left out of the films, just because it would make the movies too long.

haha i mean.. in Gale's defense, in the first movie Katniss was either at the Capital or at the games for 90% of the movie. There wasn't a ton of time to build their relationship and have a lot of dialogue between the 2. So it's hard to knock them by saying they didn't have a lot of interaction in the first movie. They weren't around each other ;)
yeah i really blame the writers who wanted me to buy into a relationship they knew they had no time to develop 😭

She's got more important things going on. In the movie, they tried to build the same dynamic of 2 guys interested in her but didn't have time w/ gale so imo kind of gave the wrong impression of what was going on. iirc in the books, she was interested in gale but was never really w/ him but I could be wrong. It's been a while.

Okay so the whole thing with Gail why he was at the whipping post was different in the books it was not a heroic act of spearing a peacekeeper who is about to attack an old lady he had basically brought a turkey he had shot to one of his best customers the former's house only to realize he had been taken out and replace and the new hard ass on the power Trip caught him red-handed with you know game he shouldn't have so he's like oh you've been out poaching take him to the square and we're going to basically beat him to death there was actually multiple people who were unconscious around the pole like dude he's knocked out he's bleeding heavily it's over we're not supposed to kill a teenager for this and then basically it went the same way with the three victors going up to defend him and then but he was unconscious as were multiple people who went up to save his life because the headpiece keeper just bash whoever it is over the head and knock them out cold when they say that's enough you're not supposed to kill the kidthe only real difference when the victors came up was katniss got in the way of the whip and the whip smack her across the face so she had an actual welt across her face she wasn't punched she had an actual line from the whip across her face but it didn't really affect the plot of the book then this affected the plot of the movie The only thing is is in the movie it made it a bit more sympathetic for Gail because he was facing the whipping post as a result of trying to save an old woman from being attacked and spearing the s*** out of the new head peacekeeper but in the book it wasn't some heroic deed that got him in that situation

Gale and Katniss have been best friends their entire lives and he has always been in love with her. Had Peeta not come along she would have ended up with him. Gale saved her family twice-while she was in the games by keeping them from starving, and after these games by getting them out of 12 and sacrificing saving his own family.
Some of this is not true. They hadn't been best friends their whole lives, they became hunting partners after both of their fathers died in the mines. Eventually it grew into true companionship. And Gale hadn't always been in love with her. He definitely had feelings for her when the HGs started though :)
I disagree with both statements. They weren’t best friends their whole lives. Katniss met him when she was 11-12. So about 4-5 years. Also, despite what Katniss thinks, I don’t believe she would’ve ended up with Gale. I think a lot of her actions came from guilt because of Peeta as well as being confused about what her true motives were because of the fake love story. Gale himself said that Katniss would only kiss him when she could see he was in pain or sad. It came from a place of sympathy and love, but not romantic love. She cared so much about Gale and hated seeing him hurt, but I don’t think she truly loved him in that way.

I love watching people’s reactions to these movies and omg you’re like the first person who’s made me laugh my ass off🤣 loving loving loving these. One thing about Katniss is that we have to remember that she is a teenager throughout all of the books/movies. As much as I hate Gale and the whole story line with Katniss going back and forth between Peeta and Gale, Katniss is just a teenager. Has been close with Gale for so long and then has to be with Peeta to survive. And then fights a back and forth between the man she’s hung out with all her life and the man who saved her life in the games. It’s crazy but honestly so interesting when really thinking about it. Like how is a teenager supposed to deal with that on top of everything else going on? Ugh I love this story
