    This video was very helpful. Like you, I thought keratin would leave my hair flat and lifeless. I've struggled with frizzy hair my entire life (I just turned 50 in March :-), but never thought to investigate this option. I stumbled across your channel looking for under-eye concealer, and now I'm hooked! Thank you for your positive attitude and for encouraging us all to embrace the age we are... whatever that may be.

    I had the Brazilian treatment on my hair about a year ago. It looked great!! It made my hair very straight and smooth, even though, my hair is thick and wavy. It lasted about a month. Then, the humidity kicked in and made my hair frizzy again. I would need to do a few treatments, if I want my hair to be straight and smooth all the time. It's not cheap, either. I have a really good hair colorist. I have been going to her, since 2003. She's amazing!! I love her! She's the same age as my youngest daughter. She's very experience at coloring and highlighting hair. She's the only person who I trust with highlighting my hair. Have a great day, everyone!! 😊

    I’m a licensed hairstylist and get my products from warehouses, beauty supply stores including drug stores. I did work in a salon that charged anywhere between $50-100 for a keratin treatment. Your higher end salons with senior stylists would charge close to $150.00 and up. It’s the salons rent, location and products used whether good or cheap ones. This stylist obviously you can see in the background is not a low end salon so therefore he has to charge higher to break even or make a profit. If you are not licensed you can buy products from drug stores and other stores, there is nothing wrong with these products when bought from drug stores. I still use homemade products for deep conditioning my hair and my girls have super curly hair and lot of humidity in summer then I use a mix of avocados and eggs blend it and add vitamin E and other stuff. I massage it into the roots and brush it and wrap it all night or 1 hour. That’s just one example then there is the mayonnaise. You have to know your hair if it’s oily, thin, course, grey, aging hair and then what to combine together. Like aging and menopausal hair needs more biotin, vitamins C along with whatever natural product you come up with. You want to save money and budget then you have to invest some time researching on natural products or already bought from stores. The powder he put into the hair is you sprinkle on roots and it gives you volume. You can buy on amazon or eBay or drugstores. Today’s economy hurts and everything is going up in price. Not everyone has to worry about money or is a bargain hunter like me. I even bought products from the Dollar tree or dollar store when I was financially struggling. Have faith you can do it 🙏🏻.

      my hair broke off from heat damage in the crown area. it hasnt grown for a year. surrounding hair also have become dry and brittle. not as bad as now as ive stopped applying sea salt spray n stopped blow drying. can a keratin treatment help? my hair all my life was thick, super black and healthy and grew so fast. after a year of unconscious damaging via use of sea salt spray and blow drying on high heat, one day my scalp just couldnt handle anymore pain from the blow drier that my hair fell off in the shower.

      Did you use the Brazilian Blowout Zero product?

  • @chickfit1
    @chickfit1 7 років тому +87

    You should state that the product Ceron used on your hair was a Brazilian Blowout Product. The "Zero" version is not as strong as the original and produces less formaldehyde fumes when heated with the flat iron. It maintains more of your natural curl and doesn't last as long. You are supposed to rinse the Zero product out after you've dried and flat ironed it. Then apply the Brazilian Blowout Acai Deep Conditioning Masque. The second blow-dry goes much quicker and is frizz free. Style as you normally would. The average time the treatment lasts is 3 months.

      Tara Tadema I usually go for one you can wash out after 6 hours rather than 2-3 days, there's one called White Diamond that I often use but I try loads so don't really have a favourite. Most of them send a pre treatment shampoo with the keratin as you need to deep cleanse to remove any product build up and open the cuticle. I also bought a bowl and brush like they use in a salon to apply colour when I first started doing it but that's not essential. You need to wear latex gloves. Other than that you just need a hairdryer and straighteners that get hot enough to fuse the keratin to your hair (can't remember the exact temperature but most straighteners work I think)

    Most stylists I know (I'm a beauty school dropout myself) don't like keratin treatments or products as they can be quite drying and damaging. When hair is damaged it can't be fixed, it can only be removed. Treatments mask damage, but can't repair it, from coconut oil to this. The secret to beautiful hair is to be gentle with it. Easy with heat, bleach, washing and sun exposure. Regular trims and deep conditioning along with a good diet is a proactive way to healthy hair. Glad you enjoyed this but $150 is expensive for many these days.

    • @traceyfehn7840

      You are exactly right ! couldn't have said it better myself. Salons like to tell people that the treatment will mend their hair and fix all their problems but NOT TRUE ! Not to mention how many times they have to pass that hot flat iron over each section of hair...its like they are partially melting the cuticle closed ! And after the keratin wears off and the damage is there you have to run out to get another treatment because it looks worse !

    Also a Houston girl - I get these every six months and then I BABY my hair so it last as long as possible. There is a short-term and a long-term. Since my hair is super thick and frizzy I opt for the (more expensive) long-term. After, my hair is like silk and the way it was before I had kids and started aging - or better. It is kind of hard to curl, but I don't mind - I like it straighter. It has become a "necessary" expense! I'd rather go gray than give up my keratin! If I choose not to wash - my hair is perfect for four days straight if I want it to be.

    "Brazilian Blowout ZERO - The Brazilian Blowout would have been the perfect product if it didn’t have such major collateral formaldehyde issues. The technology involved works by crosslinking new keratin to the keratin of the hair with formaldehyde (also known as methylene glycol) as the bridge. However, looking at the ingredients in the list for Brazilian Blowout Zero, we note the presence of glycolic acid further down the list instead of formaldehyde. Many smoothing treatments use glycolic acid nowadays to crosslink the keratin/ amino acids to the hair. This process is however very slow compared to formaldehyde and not as effective. Even further down the list, note the presence of cysteine, the amino acid present in hair, but also a reducing/binding agent. It is possible that the product also uses the cysteine to break the disulfide bonds (or bind to free sulfur residues of the hair) and reform new S-S bonds, which upon flat-ironing could help smooth out the curls.This treatment seems be great for stretching out some curls, smoothing the hair and potentially keeping it frizz-free for a while. It is definitely a semi-permanent treatment and those with super curly/kinky hair will probably not benefit as much.What the company suggests
    The company has crafted a tutorial for stylists stating the expectations that clients should have based on their hair types.
    Brazilian Blowout Zero is quoted to be most appropriate for fine/ thin hair. Unfortunately many stylists fail to communicate this to their clients. This is probably because of the low efficacy of the product. The thinner the hair, the faster it can diffuse into the cortex, and the faster it can cross-link the proteins.
    Many people have been disappointed with the new Brazilian Blowout Zero. For starters, the cost of this treatment is not trivial (which is why the expectations are also set high). However, like the company discreetly posted, this treatment is not a straightening treatment for medium/thick hair.
    Many people have complained of seeing their curls reappear as soon as the next wash. Others mention that it behaves just like any smoothing serum would. While on the other hand, there are people who are totally satisfied with this new product. Could it be because they had the right hair type?
    The Verdict - The new Brazilian Blowout Zero for sure doesn’t compare in performance to the original Brazilian Blowout, which was a total success as can be expected from the chemistry behind. The company should have been clearer in its marketing that this product is NOT for every hair type which would have saved people lots of money and time. Amazon sells the product which is now marketed more as a smoothing treatment against frizz (at $143) rather than a straightening product. For a cheaper anti-frizz product that actually works I would recommend the Living Proof Frizz (no Frizz) line."

If you are growing your hair long it's not the best thing for your hair. You can always do protein treatments to strengthen and define your curls better. Gentle, sulfate-free, super conditioning shampoos and conditioners are the best. There are some that are Keratin-infused which help as well..

      If time is indeed money, then think about the time it saves you when you're getting ready for work. That's more time you can spend sleeping or working out and less time in front of the mirror trying to futz with frizzy hair.

    • @jpgreen1803
      @jpgreen1803 6 років тому +18

      I'm normal and I think $150 every three months is totally reasonable if it means not spending money on other products and spending time dealing with frizz with a flat iron or blow dryer.

      Think about it this way: if you stay at home doing nothing with your hair in a bun or you go out only once a week, well, then it will not be cost effective. But if you are someone go works everyday and goes out and have meetings and other kinds of jobs then yes it would be worth it.

    When Keratine first came out in the US about 8-10 years it was amazing. With time, the FDA started to regulated and the only allow certain types, which didn't work as well as the one currently on the salons. I remember being able to get out of the shower and didn't need to do anything to my long, thick wavy hair.

    I liked the fresh look you got from this Keratin treatment. In the past, the ones I had, seemed oily looking and I couldn't wait to wash my hair. I am going to ask my hairdresser about this new Keratin treatment and see if this would work for my hair. Thank you for this video. You look marvelous and I am looking forward to your follow up video.

    I've been doing Keratin for years and I don't know what I'd do if it hadn't been invented. It's been a godsend for me. My hair is incredibly curly but not in a good way. It's so frizzy and all over in different directions. I have mine done about every 4 months. I've actually gone as long as 6 months because I find it builds on itself if that makes sense. Wonderful for vacation when your going somewhere humid or you just want to get on with it.
