My Mothers MyHeritage DNA Test - Sephardic Jewish from Egypt V2 UPDATED VERSION 2024
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 вер 2024
- She is Sephardic Jewish born in Alexandria, Egypt. Her original DNA results made much more sense to this one.
Ancestry
Her Father was from Tantah & Her Mother was from Heliopolis, Cairo.
Her Maternal Grandmother was from Constantinople / Istanbul. Her Maternal Great Great Grandmother was from Crete. Her Maternal Great Grandfather was from Brindisi, Italy.
Her Paternal Great Grandfather was from Gibraltar. Her other Paternal Great Grandfather was from Morocco.
We think the Syrian came from her Father’s side also. Possibly her Great Great Grandmother as we don’t know where she was from & her surname was a common name in Syria. Still no documentation of the Syrian though.

The myheritage company is just busy on doing only jewish ethnicities. In the future they will do martian jew I am sure.
Not true, there are new non-Jewish versions of all the countries too. I actually didn’t get Jewish DNA on mine & I’m actually Jewish by my mother (the person of this DNA)
@@ThatLondonLady there are many ethnicities that only has its jewish version. For example there is ethiopian jewish but not ethiopian. And jews arent even ethnicity they are people believing in judaism. For example if I am a tunisian and change my religion into judaism then my dna turns into tunisian jewish? I don't want to disrespect your ethnicity or religion but the company should work on other ethnicities than jewish ones.
@@Ayxan_Eyvaz No, it doesn’t change. She could become an Atheist or convert to another religion but still be Jewish because Jewish is an Ethno-Religion. Coptic & Druze are also Ethno-Religions just like Jewish is. You’ll be pleased to know that the system has now updated since 2 days ago & shows ‘Ethiopian and Eritrean’ as a non-Jewish ethnicity. They’ve added so many more ethnicities now.
Here is someone else’s latest updated result. Similar Arab ethnicities but non-Jewish ones

my old dna result said that i am 25 procent jewish now the company changed it mind and made me 95 procent egyptian and 2 procent iraqi while it doesnt make sence because no one of my familie came from these areas i am syrian.
Congratulations daughter of Jacob!!!
@@JesusChristisgreat-pj6nd thank you 🙏
I’m currently waiting for mine to update. I’m staring to be inpatient lol
Fingers crossed you’ll be happy with the results when it updates!
Some of the changes on mine & my families made no sense at all, but the original was better 😂
How long should we wait?
@@paxquaesitor317 unsure, but so many comments have also said theirs haven’t updated yet! I guess it will be 2 or 3 more days.

I’ve never seen a string of subset Jewish heritage before. Really Cool 👍
@@Jprager thank you so much 😊. The new MyHeritage update now separates all the different Sephardic & other Jewish ethnicity categories instead of just one block
@@ThatLondonLady ahhhh nice 👍
I have a distant Sephardic Jewish ancestor but MyHeritageDNA didn't identify him, Ancestry did. MyHeritageDNA only indicated that I'm a bit Semitic/North African. My ancestor was a Moroccan Jew. I hope they do things right this time.
@@minfamilie4319 Have you tried transferring to FTDNA? They have Sephardic & Mizrahi on there too. Hopefully the MH update will be more successful for you 😊
It makes sense though, most Egyptian Jews came to Egypt from Syria, this is very common. The communities before that were North African, so yes it looks like it makes sense to me honestly
The Syrian doesn’t make sense to me though. Her Father’s Mother’s family came to Egypt from Morocco; And her Mother’s family came to Egypt from Greece & Turkey.
Turkey not far from Syrian
@@IM-wq6wu That’s true! The original result said ‘West Asia - Turkey’ then it changed.
The update is weird, they separated Spanish from Portugal, India from Pakistan, I don’t think there is a difference between Moroccan Jewish and Tunisian Jewish
@@IM-wq6wu they actually changed her & my great-uncles Italian into Tunisian Jewish. It’s strange because they are actually from Italy!
The Moroccan Jewish however is correct, they are Amazigh & unique from other North African’s.
Wow so many categories.
Btw nice results.
@@superboy3633yes it’s a lot 😂! Thank you so much 😊
Beautiful ❤
Thank you 😊
Dammnmn she's fully jewish! Nice results. I'm gonna take another test after like years and I'm kinda sad they lumped every single eastern european and balkan into 2 categories lol, maybe they're gonna be more detailed in the future
@@yeh8928 haha thank you 😊, yes she is! My own personal update was terrible too. 4-5 more years probably until the next update, hopefully it will be much better next time! 🙏
@ThatLondonLady yup ! It took them long enough to update it lol. The fact that they lumped together North AND western Europe in the past is even more crazy hahaha
Does someone know what the genetics group are actually? I got Poland and Germany as genetic groups even tho I am like 70% Balkan and 20% West European, with Hungarian ancestors only. I don’t think I would have anything to do with Germany or Poland.
@@adriansomogyi249 the genetics groups are just a sub group that isn’t DNA. It’s mainly about what your matches DNA is or where your matches are living.
I have Kenyan ethnicity as the last one on the list, does that mean my ancestors originally came from there?
Could be, but ethnicities are just an estimate so never 100% accurate. What percentage of Kenyan did you get? & what were your other ethnicities?
I got 2.2% Kenyan. Nigerian, North African and Mesoamerican
And also European
@@MinisterofGod712 2.2% is not that significant, but it could definitely be real too. If you have an older close relative to test it could give you more clarity where the Kenyan & other ethnicities you’re unsure about came from.
Beautiful results 💙🤍
@@TheDailyGorl thank you 😊
how long does it take for the results to update because im so impacient😭😭😭
Hopefully within 2 days everyone’s will be updated. 🙏
How are they dividing all these north african countries with jewish, i would say thats not jewish genetics its just arabic
@@nickkerr4893 there are non-Jewish versions of the North African ones now too. But I still find some of them make no sense to me.
@@ThatLondonLady but whats the big Difference between tunisian jewish and Libyan jewish? Makes no sense to me. I think they are hiding something especially by jews so they stay high percentage jew while everyone knows most of them are like east european they just Show it as ashkenasi
@@nickkerr4893 well I’m actually Egyptian Jewish so it wasn’t completely inaccurate for me.
Ashkenazi Jewish is Eastern European / Slavic so a completely different ethnicity to Arab Jews. I think the Tunisian would more likely be closer to Moroccan; My great grandfather was Moroccan & they are Amazigh.
The Libyan is confused with Egyptian I am sure. Another update is needed!
@@ThatLondonLady but what makes it that the test Shows jew??
@@nickkerr4893DNA matching ancient bones & teeth of other Jewish people from those locations. They obviously have been able to collect enough data to have found a difference between Jewish & non-Jewish DNA from North Africa.
Cool 🙂
@@AlexOliveGrove thanks 😊
Guau absolutely beautiful ❤❤
Thank you 😊
Do we access to the old results as well after the update?😊
Yes! You can switch back to the old v0.95 version from the new v2 version 😊
where can i find new ethnicities map?
It will automatically update on your account.
@@ThatLondonLady Do you have to do something for it? or just automatically update. just wait?

New updates and this website still in love with jews
Oh really 😏 As a real practicing Jew I’m glad they acknowledge my people. But the website really could have done better for Jews to be honest. I hope next time they acknowledge Jews of Greek & Italian origin as ‘Romaniote Jews’ as that is a part of my ethnic origins & we shouldn’t be left out.😔
