Thats some decent lab equipment there
Hi Dr why my myristic acid is orange solid? What is the possible might occur during the experiment?
Are you talking about the trimyristin or the myristic acid?
@@DrRichardMusgrave myristic acid..supposedly in white colour but I obtained orange colour
@@yumi-bv7gf was this after you recrystallized it?
@@DrRichardMusgrave yes Dr..
@@yumi-bv7gf you probably needed to use more solvent when you recrystallized it.
Why did u use methanol for the second part (crystallization) ?
Probably because the product is slightly soluble in it but will crash out of solution with a decrease in temperature.
first year uni chemistry class?
Second year.
What was the percentage yield of the trimyristin ?
compared to the theoretical
It's more a percent recovery. This is an extraction, not a reaction. Since we don't know how much trimyristin was in the nutmeg, all we can do is come up with a percent recovery based on the initial mass of nutmeg.
😅
Dare you to eat it
