Thank you to the people who made comments mentioning the Magic Mushrooms made by Local King Rubber stamps. I did buy their sponge ink applicators since they seem to be more versatile and the owner has made so many videos to show how they can be used. I had never heard of this company before but have already bought a lot of her great products. They ship out their orders very quickly and seem to have very clever ideas made into their products which gives good variety in how they can be used. Their prices are also good.
Kelly, thank you for reviewing this new tool. After seeing your review, I may pick them up. I, too, hope they offer a white one, for white ink, and a clear one for embossing ink. I also hope they will soon offer a storage case for them. I can see this tool being used often. About the drama behind this and another craft company I’ve never heard of, it’s a painful reminder of what happened with the Misti and Tim Holtz. I never understood that drama. And now, after all this time, there are SO many stamping tools very similar to the Misti. Just like there are a zillion blending tools, etc.!! People need to remember, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Anyway, despite all that, why do people need to be so negative and ugly about it? It’s one thing to be protective of the original creator, but it’s something else to be mean and harassing. I also understand the flip side, though, and copyrights and artistry, etc. But I don’t believe that comes into play here. I’m glad PF reached out to the other company and that all is good. Hopefully, that puts an end to things.
I'm so glad you mentioned the other company. They're called Local King Rubber Stamp, a small independent company & they hand make their red rubber stamps & Lisa designs them all. The dies are amazing too as they don't leave th big white gap around the image. I have had their Magic Mushrooms (the same as these paper pouncers) for years & they're amazing. You can do so much with them. I love them. There are loads of tips on their UA-cam channel for all the ways you can use them. They're definitely worth checking out if you've never heard of them before. These are a great product wherever you get them from. I highly recommend them. Thanks for your honesty & a great review.
Thank you. I find it very hard to believe that PF Studios didn't know about Local King Rubber Stamps. Granted, they are from Canada, but they have been at so many craft shows through the years here in the U.S. Their stamps are some of the best quality on the market.
Local King was largely responsible for me getting into this hobby. I stumbled upon them at a local stamp convention years ago. I am glad Picket Fence reached out to Local King and all seems good between them. Big sigh. I have no room for more ink blending tools.
Actually, all of them are just a repurposed idea from the cosmetics industry…sneakily repackaged as the new, latest and greatest craft tool..and sold to unsuspecting crafters at a markup of $$$.
Thanks so much Kelly for a really great review. In UK I hadn’t really come across them or knew their benefits but I now personally think they will benefit my crafting so will give them a go. ❤😊
Thanks for this wonderfully thorough demo. You answered all the questions l had asked myself after watching other demos on these. Mainly how can they be THAT different than the large domed blenders, in which you provided a good comparison between the 2, along with the other blender types. I think we all prefer to be frugile with our craft products because it’s not a cheap hobby. Sometimes you win getting something off Amazon that there might be a marginal difference than the name brand, but you lose when it’s junk & you end up buying the name brand anyway. My social security only goes so far, so l appreciate this honest review & especially the way you took the time to show results using the different products. I can see getting the small set to try before investing in all of them! Excellent job & again, THANK YOU! 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏼🙏🏻💖
I’m in The Netherlands and can get a set of 18 beauty blenders dupes at action for €5 and i started using these for applying ink on diecuts and it works great.
Hello Kelly - I have not viewed many of your videos of late, life, crazy days, loss of crafty mojo, okay enough silly excuses!!! I am BAAACCCCKKKKK!!! I pray that the family is super well, growing up before your eyes and that all are happy, happy, happy!!!!
Just beautiful!!! I also had problems with math, I had to promise my math teacher not to take any more math and she would pass me! When I was 35 I got my Real Estate license and boy did I have to learn lots of math.
I think that is very cool that Picket Fence reached out to Lisa. And you are right about the fact that it would be impossible for all the craft companies to know all the products out there. I saw Lisa’s video about not leaving negative comments saying this tool was stole from her. And you’re right, hers are marketed as a blending tool. Now I need to go back and watch the rest of the video
I totally get the one handed arting. My left arm also doesn't work so well, so I look for things that can make my life easier. Glad to see what you. can do with these pouncers. I emboss stuff all the time, so good to see how well it worked for you. thanks as always for sharing and all the inspiration.
If for no other reason for me to purchase the items is the ability to add color to the intricate dies and stencils. It is so very frustrating to see thin areas of stencils pull up and bend - I will place this product on my get it list. Thank you again and again for the realization of there are crafters that have functional limits, such as only having the ability to use one hand. I hope that the crafty world that produces products will begin to take into consideration how to produce tools that are assistive to a wide range of individuals with disabilities, permanent or temporary. Thank you again and again for all that you do Miss Kelly - I am a fan!!!
Great all inclusive video review!! Love the idea of using with embossing! You are a great example of a kind and considerate person! Always look forward to your videos!
I gotten the pointed egg beauty blenders for less than 2.00 each in places like Dollar General found the mini beauty blenders pack of 4 for 2.50-3.00. I understand some people needing the one handed use but I can't justify the storage space let alone the price. Beauty blenders are cheaper and require less space.
I got some egg-shaped makeup sponges. Ten of them for under $10. They work in the same way. They just don’t have handles. They take up a fraction of the storage space and use far less planet unfriendly plastic.
Thank you for putting on emphasis on empathy. I have hand arthritis and tremor. I won't stop making cards, but I love finding tools that help make it easier. Blending brushes aren't easy for me.
Thank you for being honest about the new pouncers! Since I am new to stencils (haven't done or owned) -- because I hate mess - this gives me hope! I count every penny so this is very much a consideration for purchase soon.
Have to admit these look great. Just wanted to mention that Dollar Tree sold the egg shaped make-up sponges several years ago and I bought lots of them for $1. Consider myself fortunate I got them then. Now I know they are best to color intricate dies and pouncing through stencils. Had to pack away all my stamping stuff due to a move before I used them. Thanks for the review and the info. Appreciate you!
$40 is DEFINITELY too expensive to try a product out. They should sell them individually so people can at least give them a try before getting stuck for a whole set of them.
I had no idea there could be so much drama about a crafting tool 😂 (after the Misti drama any way) thanks for posting this I was originally thinking this would be a hard pass but it’s definitely a consideration now.
I think when a company blatantly copies another companies product then there should be something said about it. That isn’t what seems to have happened here. But I think Picket Fence reaching out to the other company was a great thing to do. I also feel that there are companies that sell knock offs and it really bothers me when I see utubers recommend these companies because their items are cheaper
@@kiminalaska9363 , I agree. The blatant stealing is definitely wrong. I’ve seen artists (painters) have their work stolen and claimed by someone else as theirs, and sadly, there’s not a lot that can be done about it. Artists now have to watermark everything they post on social media. Stamp companies also deal with this kind of theft. Unfortunately, that’s a major drawback of the internet. Not sure what the solution is.
Well shoot….thought I didn’t need these but I like your idea about suing them for embossing ink. I will go for the neutrals. I can always label the top of the container. Thank you!!!
The Picket Fence Studios Paper Pouncers look like the Local King Rubber Stamp Magic Mushrooms that came out in 2019. Magic Mushrooms have denser foam and flatter head than makeup sponges. Local King Rubber Stamp shows more techniques beyond pouncing/tapping in her YT videos making them very versatile. Interesting technique with the Versamark.
I’ve been seeing other crafters reviewing these and I couldn’t wait for you to also do a review. So far, I’ve only heard good things! Please do more videos with these pouncers using embossing ink. I feel like this tool just opened the door to more fun projects you can share with us!
ear Kelly, LOVE this video, I loved the balanced and open approach you took to this tool. From what I had seen, I suspected what you have found, and I am glad to see this borne out. Yes, they ARE expensive (but then, so is, say, the Misty…). I guess the price has to reflect R&D as well as make the company money… If they hold up to long term use, I think they will be worth it for those tasks which the other tools are not really up to: intricate stencils and intricate die cuts. For ME, I think this will make them worthwhile. If someone feels otherwise, they don‘t have to buy the . Thank you for your videos and inspiration. Kind regards from Germany, Nicola
I appreciate your opinion. I admit when I first saw these I thought they copied them. However I can certainly see the benefit of a pouncer foam. Then if you want to blend ink get the Blue knights rubber stamps one. Lisa does recommend it be a damp sponge for better application. However she has used a pouncing motion with them as well. I know Picket Fence is a legit company and wouldn't try to steal an idea of a smaller mom n pop business. As well Lisa, the owner has asked people to stop protesting and fighting Picket Fence products. She said she didn't believe they had knowingly tried to copy her product, and said they are very different from her product.
I love my paper pouncers. Upped my stenciling game considerably. Haven't tried them yet on die cuts or for embossing but they are already worth what I paid.
Thanks for the review. I hadn’t seen or heard of them. I will have to give it a try for the delicate snowflake stencils I have. Maybe I won’t break another one!
If a product whether a crafting tool or other tool(kitchen ones cause major drama too) seems silly or gimmicky to you(general you, not meaning Kelly) its just you aren’t the target market. I’ve always hated peeling potatoes since I was a kid. Hurt hands soo much. Adult me at 21 years old bought a rotato express 25 years ago and i was i heaven but mocked. When it died i couldn’t find a replacement until it became popular on tiktok and i found a new one. I shared my happy find with my friends and now i’m not mocked as much because all of us are older and many are feeling the same pain the hands i’ve had since i was a kid.
I absolutely agree that you shouldn’t yuck on someone else’s yum. No, this isn’t something I personally need in my craft room right now. But heck, I thought the same thing about the Misti when it came out and I now own all 3 sizes of them. So I never say ‘never’. I think a lot of the negativity has come from customers feeling taken advantage of in the paper crafting market. It’s especially difficult when you do spend your hard earned dollars on a product and then find the exact same thing or very similar, marketed to a different audience, for substantially less. I just purchased my birthday gifts from Blick Art Supplies because the exact same items were double, or more, at the paper crafting sites.
Confession of a cheapskate: I bought a set of these from Amazon. I figured it's just another gimmick. I immediately used them on a butterfly die cut that's been sitting around for, well, forever. I love them. I've treid them since with a stencil. I love them. They work great for what they're intended to be used for.
I’m not into stencils so I don’t see a need for this for me. Having prefaced with that I will say it is a very useful tool if you do use stencils. The fact of being able to put the inky tool in its cap so you don’t have ink everywhere is in itself is worth the price of admission.
My mother had a stroke at 45 and never got her right arm back. We had to find devices to help her with cutting fruit and vegetables, hookier her bra, buttoning her pants... and everything else.
Thank you Kelly for your review on the paper pouncers.
Love the colorful cards, all so beautiful!

Thanks so much Kelly for a really great review. In UK I hadn’t really come across them or knew their benefits but I now personally think they will benefit my crafting so will give them a go. ❤😊

Jennifer McGuire sometimes leaves her die-cuts in the cardstock and colors them that way. Great for small and intricate die-cuts.

Great idea on these daubers. I like the idea. Thanks for comparing them with the products I think most of us have.

Thank you❤. I appreciate your honesty.
Does Picket Fence recommend rinsing the pouncing tools out after using embossing ink and the pigment inks? This keeps the sponge from getting hard.
Hi Kim, we do not recommend rinsing them or getting them wet. You can gently pounce off on a piece of scrap paper.
A great review. Your comparison was very helpful too.
These look super cool and easy to use! I am definitely considering starting with the neutral set to see how I like them. Thanks for the review Kelly!
This was very informative! I would totally buy them for stencilling! Thanks Kelly
Bought these the first day offered. Love them. Love you for having empathy! You're a gem.💎

Once again, awesome video, I saw them puncher but wasn't sure whether to purchase them, but today I did. Thank you, kelly
I love my paper pouncers. Upped my stenciling game considerably. Haven't tried them yet on die cuts or for embossing but they are already worth what I paid.
Thanks so much for all the info and the comparisons. I wanted them to try out when they came out, now I am convinced I need them! 😊
Thanks for your review. This was helpful
Hi Kelly, can u plz compare the pouncers to the Tim Holtz Dome Foam blenders? Since both tools have a dome shape I wonder if they would work the same?
Thanks for the review. I hadn’t seen or heard of them. I will have to give it a try for the delicate snowflake stencils I have. Maybe I won’t break another one!
I ordered the whole set. Looking forward to using them!

Power to you Girlfriend! Agree wholeheartedly.

Kelly, do you need to rinse the versa mark ink out out the pouncer ? It seems like it could get sticky.
We do not recommend getting the pouncers wet. Just use a piece of scrap paper to pounce off the excess.
They need to add a white one for versamark.
I’m not into stencils so I don’t see a need for this for me. Having prefaced with that I will say it is a very useful tool if you do use stencils. The fact of being able to put the inky tool in its cap so you don’t have ink everywhere is in itself is worth the price of admission.

I'm sorry..that price is insanely high!
...and here was me thinking you'd be colouring a llama die🤦♀
I am tempted but the amount of plastic used is really making me pause.
