Can you imagine being a musician who considers themselves socially relevant or revolutionary, and hearing Patti Smith for the first time? You would either quit, or be absolutely emboldened. Patti Smith, The Chambers Brothers, The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers...these are impossible acts to follow.
I'm confused as to why Zack skipped out on Rage's induction after seeing this.
Without the torrid and tumultuous events of two decades, the music and art inspired by, what some romanticize about, were born of violent and saddening choices that music and art we cherish would have never been created.
That's the first time that I've heard Zack speak like a thoughtful and polite young man. He isn't screaming in your face about the injustices caused by corporate greed and puppet politicians!

And? You don’t have to be thoughtful and polite to be educated and intelligent. I’m glad he’s screaming in everyone’s faces. His band is named Rage Against The Machine, ffs. If you can’t tell that people are multidimensional, that’s on you.
His music is an expression like any other band. That’s the beauty of music, it’s your’s, sometimes you have to scream to be heard when you have a message that you feel need’s to be heard. Clearly enough people feel the same or he wouldn’t be standing where he is. If you listen to his lyric’s you can tell he’s articulate and has the vocabulary to match. Hearing music isn’t always the same as listening and I’m glad he didn’t dilute his music because the message made some people uncomfortable. Sure he screams on stage, but he isn’t the first or the last. It’s just he did it in his genre. Remember how out spoken Lenon was? Talking about American politics and the war in Vietnam and he wasn’t even American… yet a lot of people still listened
But he won’t show up to Rage’s induction!?

I find it fascinating to see how nervous/uncomfortable he is making a short speech in front of what most would consider a "friendly" crowd. His hand quiere while holding his notes, and he repeatedly has to lick his lips due to having a dry mouth, yet he goes out in front of a crowd of a 100k and owns the stage with his own very personal art work. I'm not looking down on anyone, not calling anyone out or even implying it's a bad thing. Just something I noticed and found interesting.
