That old bra tip..... grabbing that idea. I made one with a bunch of scrap fabric and used interfacing to hold it in place. The bra cup seems like a better option for better shaping 👌🏽
Clear demo that is much appreciated. I'm glad you corrected yourself later in the video about whether you were using 1 inch or 1 cm seam allowance. I was a bit confused prior to that correction. I love the bra cup/saucer base idea!!
Hi Juliet this is so useful you make it so so easy. Thank you so much for sharing it is a great way to hack your seams to make princess seams. Nice one bella xxx
I've found that I have to extend the center armhole area on the side bodice so that it matches up when you sew it together. I definitely recommend a mock up for fitting issues before deciding that your pattern is complete
You’re right especially if you haven’t used the basic bodice at all. For this one, I used a truly tried and tested basic bodice which fits me well. 😊😊thanks so much Judie xx
Hi Juliet, could I ask about the navy/black and white dotty dress you are wearing? Is it a hack because I just love the top part (I do love the whole dress also) but I just love the collar which looks amazing. Is the top part from a particular pattern if so which pattern? Many thanks.
Hi Juliet, this is a great video and very easy to follow. However I am currently making a second version of the Simplicity 8415 which is a drop waist dress - I just love a drop waist dress. The bodice doesn't have much shape to it, so I thought I would give it some princess seams. However can this method only done providing there is a waist dart? The only darts this pattern has it the bust darts. Any tips that might help would be greatly appreciated. I love your voice it is so soothing and relaxing :)
What if I have a princess seam cami (vintage sew lovely 1970s stretch pattern) that I want to make unto T? The princess seam goes from top of the bust where the spaghetti straps attach. Does it work to lay it over my T pattern (a free one from Always Autumn blog, I think I printed the classic T) and trace the princess seams in? I want to make some T with color blocked sides. I have worn A&D love toos which use raglan like a half a princess seam so I already know it's flattering. I might try to rotate the shoulder part of the seam to arm and make up a top in each to see what fits best and in different weight knits. I have 2 weights of hersey and some double brushed poly. The double brushed is a summer print on fabric which I consider to be too warm for my area unless I were making fashion leggings. I'm making a spring/fall top with it.
Hi Juliet. This tutorial came at the perfect time as i am trying to master a primcess bodice! Are the bodices on your website suitable for a full bust?
Hello! :D Thank you so much for this tutorial. Surely gonna be using this knew knowledge for my future sewing projects :) I get so happy from your videos, it is clear how much you enjoy the sewing and educating. 💕✨ I don't get why not more clothing just already has this, most clothes fit relatively square? ... just assuming it is a money thing like it always is xD ... that is why I would also be interested in a tutorial about putting princess seems in ready made clothes.
Princess seams are so unique and they give clothes a very special fit. I’m so glad I’m not the only one who gets it. You’re surely right! Most clothes these days have a boxy \ square fit 🤔🤔
Looking good!
And the old bra is a genius tip!
🥰🥰🥰it looks ridiculous but does the job just fine. Thanks Lizzy 💝
@@JulietUzor_ nobody needs to know 🤪
Great video. Cleared up a lot of questions. And you are just lovely.
Such a smart idea use a bra as a custom tailor’s ham. I’m going to try that because my regular ham isn’t anything close to my bust shape.😆
Thanks Denise. It’s one of my favourite sewing tools. ☺️☺️

An alternative to using the measuring tape for the arm hole is to use a flexible/moldable ruler.
you're most definitely right 😃

Please would you make a video of sewing princess dart with lining
No worries 🙌🏽 if I get the opportunity I will

Yes they are! It's also useful to be ready to make any adjustments as needed for your body size
Am early today let me watch
Awww... thanks so much
Where do I get that measuring tape?
That very measuring tape, I found it on Amazon. Also I think it’s just cm on both sides 😬
Should I send a link?
@@JulietUzor_ nope inches on the reverse
