Those" baked" beans you were eating were Pinto beans and nobody bakes them in Texas. Many if not most Texas homes were never without a pot of beans on the back burner in the kitchen. They are a staple in a traditional Texas diet. I've got to say I appreciate the accuracy and perception of your review of the masterpiece Beef rib and the smoky brisket. You nailed it. Newly subbed to your channel. Adorable personalities and totally relatable! Love that you two are sharing FOODIE experiences and not vegan like so many travel vloggers these days! I live in Austin (from CA) and back-in-the-day, The Broken Spoke was a definite GO TO place for good, clean fun. So glad you had a positive trip. Looking forward to exploring your channel! Thank you.
My mom and dad grew up in Austin. They were able to go up to the statue on top. They closed that down a long time ago. But for a long time, you could still see the stairs going up to it. I do not know if you can anymore.
Fun video! I feel like we could smell the cigarette smoke in Broken Wheel bar ceiling from 1967 LOL 🤣 We're here right now checking out Austin. Thanks for the pointers!
I hear that the salt lick has the best bbq in Austin if you get the chance to try it. Cool video we are planning on going there this will help us plan some things to do!
You’ve got to see a show at The Continental Club! I saw y’all passed it by. Its sister club is C Boys which is very cool too! They have chicken bingo there.
Terry Black's Barbecue - My mouth is watering just reading that name. I've never eaten such delicious, tender, juicy, smoky, dreamlike ... meat as there. Just for one night, I would fly to Austin from Germany to eat there again ... and in at all the other sensational BBQ restaurants in the city like Salt Lick BBQ or Mickletwait BBQ. It was like heaven. I love Austin and Texas as well! Thank you dear Mar & Nat for the wonderful reminder to come back asap! Best regards, Jens

Hi guys. It was so cool to see and meet you on the train from Galway to Dublin today! As we told you your videos helped me plan this bucket list trip for my dad and I. God bless.
Thanks so much for this vlog!!! I remember going to Austin for the first time as a solo traveler six years ago for a long weekend and had a great time. After seeing your blog, it makes me wanna go back and visit some of the places you guys went to.. that barbecue place you guys went to looks off the hook. Definitely gotta try some of those ribs and brisket. Great vlog guys 😊

Y’all should definitely try the GWB library in Dallas! We got to sit at the Oval Office desk! We’ve got a pic of all of our kids sitting at the desk lol so fun!
You guys should come through Jacksonville/Jacksonville Beach sometime when you're back in Florida. Maybe the Florida Georgia game in October for the world's largest outdoor cocktail party! Good times and lots of good food. I want yall to come eat some buffalo shrimp and show the world it exists because most people don't even know they are missing out on it. Cheers, keep up the good work!
I live in Austin and if i had a day and some out of town guests, I'd hit pretty much the same spots. Im over Torchy's personally, and I havent found good mexican food here, but if theyve never had a texmex taco, Torchy's or Velvet Taco is a good go-to. I'd pick Houston over Austin for the food scene. But the Broken Spoke, Capitol building, and Terry Black's are all on my must see list for visitors. I'd recommend Franklin's for bbq next, Round Rock doughnuts, and a visit to Mt. Bonnell on your next trip.
It's the largest state capital building, but the tallest is here in Baton Rouge,Louisiana. Austin is fun,I haven't been in a while, have fun in Ireland wish I was there.

13:37 Micklethwait Craft Meats BBQ in East Austin is 🤌🏻. Also, although not bbq, the Moonshine Grill is a decent place for a little something different, if you're not going for TexMex, bbq, chili, or any of the countless cuisines that Austin has to offer.
If you ever seen the movie "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" with Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds - I believe this is where they filmed the portion where Charles Durning sings - "Side Step" as he plays the Governor of Texas in the movie. . . little bit of movie trivia!
I'm not a dancer either.i couldn't get the steps down if I tried. the next time you're in Austin, you should go to a place called 6th Street where they have music and stuff

Texas is extremely hot so you can’t really enjoy the sunshine. People moved there from California and they said that the people there are not as friendly as some tourists make them out to be.
Bbq is plentiful in Austin, but it is not a cheap meal. Even fast food BBQ such as Bill Miller and Rudy's, 2 people will be lucky to get out of either place for less than $20 and no tip for some pretty good Texas bbq. It's not love, but it's not bad, and both are consistently good; whereas there many bbq places in Austin often have very good bbq, but they are not consistently good. Lots of hits and misses. Most bbq places in Austin, for 2 people, 2 plates including meat, 2 sides, drinks, and desert, expect to spend close to $30, not including the tip.
Yea, we can barely get out of any fast food place for less than $20 these days! And you’re right, bbq in general isn’t a cheap meal. The beef rib alone at Terry Black’s was $56! Lol… I think we ended up just shy of $100 for that meal.😳 Great food though! I just couldn’t afford to eat there regularly if we lived there! Lol… What are some other bbq spots you would recommend?
Moreno's on Manchaca near Stassney is my new favorite bbq in Austin, very tasty and not as pricey or as busy. It's still fairly new but I think it's well on the way to being one of the more popular bbq places in Austin.
I understand why he gave you the bone on that rib, but since it fell off before plating and you were giving him advertising he should’ve left it off. That contributed a good chunk to the weight/cost.
Austin was great until it got so popular and so many people moved there. I lived there for most of the 90's and it was fun. I would not live there now. Too overcrowded and the infrastructure did not keep up. Too many non-Texans. Okay too many Californians and New Yorkers, etc. I love the greenbelts when I lived there. Best city for natural areas and I live in the Pacific Northwest now.
Yea, that would be nice, but that's not how it works... Kind of like when you buy a T-Bone Steak or Bone-In Ribeye, you pay for the full weight, bone included.🤷🏻♂️
