I think you can move your industrial area; the power plants and garbage processing buildings, to the airport zone
For the area by the airport/shipping harbor:
Think one cyberpunk area in your solarpunk utopia. Think Night City of Gibson's Neuromancer. Shipping storage, with coffin hotels, shops, etc. mixed together.
That design would be cool, but would be remind me on NEON and terrible practical use
Definitely some budget hotels and tourist traps
New city quays can break your game at the mo.. until the next bug fix 👍

I think for the airport area you can add the sport arenas and/or a touristy place. you should have enough space to plan for traffic and also the noise wont be much of an issue bc its close to the airport

Maybe another Industrial area around the airport using the unique factory buildings to make it more interesting. Great looking city!! Your videos always make me wanna jump back into the game myself :D
I think for the area, you should make it a secondary to the mall part and make it into a huge area with lots of restaurants and some huge hotels to house tourists. Also, it could be a residential to the people that work at the port and airport, but the houses are as far away from the airport and port as you can, closer to the other residential area.
BUG: Be careful with the tree lined Quay's! The pathing tracker was bugged the last time I used them and my cities path limit's were used up quickly!
That area by the airport could be perfect for an amusement park, lots of space for rides and attractions, and super easy for tourists to get to
I think a unique factory would fit quite nicely in that area between the port ant the airport
“Let’s make the affordable part of the city” proceeds to make one the most expensive areas in the city
for the airport you should add the basketball arena. You should also try and divide it up such as there is a bit of industry near the train line. On the other side closer to the mall you should add some hotels and other airport themed buildings.
For the harbor/airport area, you should move your remaining industrial over there so that the residential area can continue.
Kibs, it's ok to use tunnels for roads sometimes. There are times when it's better to use a tunnel than an insane bridge. I'm just saying...

I think there might be a problem with the monorail ship hub. The monorail trains tend to vanish and not actually go to the harbor, thus making the line not work.

I think there is one thing lacking in the foresty area, and that is trees on the main road, as for now you only have grass.
Otherwise watching your work on this city gives me my shots of dopamine, really appreciate it, continue like this.
On the second housing expansion there is a metro under the new housing, you should add a stop!

For the area near the airport, I think you should include some sort of emergency hub

turn the area by the airport into an adventure park. moto cross tracks, roller coasters, race tracks, rock climbing stuff, paintball course, etc.

The harbor monorail hub is broken, had that in my city too. I needed to unlock the monorail from the asset and replace the station piece with one from the workshop
Amusement park / tourist trap would be my thought for the area since tourist will be coming from both the airport and port.
For the airport area add some hotels. You can also use the new hotel dlc

I think that you should do some zoned industry in airport/harbor part of the city because you don't have a lot of it.
Also I love series.
I think, if you made the district containing the stadium, grandmall, etc. Into a leisure specialization so that the tourist that come to see the game have stuff to do before and after the game that would look cool as well as feel right.
Also, the area by the airport and cargo hub should be the generic industry you took out and can bring the share prices back up a bit😅.
Also in the future maybe across the river, you could make some hills and build a nature reserve/university complex that will give you a reason to expand out that way.

Great! Your infrastructure is a wonder! I'm asking myself everytime, how you can build so properly. On the free places, you could try to put in the transportation tower. It will fit in with the transport stuff and it gives the city a nice addition. 👌💪

4:40 Having residential along such a busy and large road is usually not a good idea. You'll get a stroad effect that tends to go bad. I would put a sidewalk along the big roads to help frame the area and, for any areas that are empty, put a few more trees and small parks to help drown out any unwanted traffic noise.
I think the open space by the airport could be good for either mass industrial, with the filter waste they pollute alot less and being close to both ship and air cargo it shouldnt effect traffic alot or have it be a sports park with the different arenas, baseball,soccer fields, ect since there's already alot of mass transit connections around there
i think i would of added sky tours in that area since its so close to the airport it would make a good place
for the walkable retaining wall an option could be to place the one without trees and use move it/network multitool mod to place a pathway on top so you can zone the area
Can leave some of that area you asked about just open land, some of it could be warehouses/storage. Could work given the area is near the port/airport.
you should get the tree brush mod, it makes placing trees 100000x easier. and you can put multiple trees in one brush, and change the size and density.
If you mouse-over the green i next to the city name you can see the workers / jobs numbers.
I think that you move the yoga garden next to the elder care center, so they can relax and do some yoga! I also think u should work on the downtown are next time, i have been wating for that one xD

For the area next to the the airport, it should be either replaced with industries or an amusement park for the tourists. And the DOWNTOWN, we've been waiting for it! Make it a posch beach front area with villas and all, make it RICH baby!
In the harbor/airport area I would make it a mega industrial zone with a new source of power. Nuclear energy. It would look really cool and you would bennefit from the close industry to the import and export areas. As you continue down that stirp of land you should gradually go down into farms/ranches along side with small neighbor hoods in single family homes away from the city.
Good idea for the space next to the airport would be to make a really big sport complex with hotels, parking, basket arena, hockey, golf practice, football (soccer) (altough you already have one just some practice fields) and tennis would be cool…

I live in the Fraser Valley, and because the views are so good and there are so many mountains so space is limited, housing is very expensive. One of our neighbors is selling his house for $2.5 million Canadian dollars. It’s not even a giant house or anything.
I’d love to see a workers district with brick stone buildings that would look so awesome

can you make a few, more organic breakups of the city grid. it could look super good, examples are curved roads, triangles, grids in a different angle to the previous etc.
Move all your industrial buildings next to that airport as it’s really close so shipments take less time to get to the airport if you add industry there
When you were trying to figure out what to put in the small area that you first suggested the basketball arena into, I was thinking that a prison might have fit in there, depending on the area of effect any negative impacts have.
Also, do you have any fire watch towers placed? They might help with preventing the fires.
For the undeveloped space near the trains and airport, perfect place for the helicopter services and disaster releif resources. Its out of the way so no residential is disrupted and benefits the city

I think a tourist area by the airport and harbour. Hotels, Theme park, Stadium. There is the inner-city bis right there to bring people...maybe even a space elevator eventually
That way the space is used as a money maker and not a bad place to live for the locals.
For the area by the airport you could do a service area, like water treatment, trash treatment and other stuff in those line
i usually put the big luxury hotel by the airport. make it like a gambling luxury area but that might not work in your city.

the area could be industry since you have outside connections there or offices or something to do with the natural resources
so, zoning has always been a bit of a weird idea for me. because while most industrial stuff is a bit push away. where I live, most people could walk to most of what they need for the day. in about an hour. this just because without zoning everything gets mixed together and any needs a area has tend to be filled in.
I think the airport would be good for airport hotels and maybe adding more transit to other areas of the city

I think it's important to provide housing for people of all income levels. Sometimes an area needs to be less desirable to live in so it can be more affordable.
