I laughed at this one. I am a Sporcle quiz maker and whenever I make a Pokemon-related quiz, I have to make sure that I include all Pokemon from different generations. To ensure my quiz is not Gen. 1-centric.

Looking at the averages of the puns and gen 2 dex quizzes, you're still more knowledgeable than many other people who've participated. I'd say you're substantially well versed in recalling pokemon names. I've taken these same dex quizzes and I failed to finish out the gen 1 dex (139) and you got a little better than I did in gen 2 (78)

Remembering the types is actually fairly easy. If you just recite the 16 Johto/Kanto gym leaders then all you will be missing is Dark and Fairy

As someone who used to do the 151 when I was bored in university lectures: go from the start as far as you can, then legendaries, trade evolutions, then event specific ones (hitmons, snorlax, lapras, marowak etc) followed by fossils and in game trades.then go through the gym leaders/major battles before going through the games for encounters

For the 151 quiz my strategy was to use the Pokémon Rap and do any Pokémon with no evolutions or that are the first stages, that way when I'm close to the end I don't have to do any crazy thinking.
