Jay said he was trying to get real drums on the new album. it's just a logistics because jay lives in america now although he did get an electric kit so he can practice more for the album. also the vocals are mixed way worst on this version (due to obvious reasons).
George Beedle they leave out that groove because it feels unfinished without also playing The Arrow right after it, and maybe they didn't want to play that live. I do love the ending to Smile though
I see so many of these actual sets live since I live in denver. I'll see the little go pros mounted everywhere and i know to be on the lookout in a month... haha
Amazing quality. One of my favorite sickdrummer vids Besides the Matt garstka videos. You guys should really do more new videos of Matt garstka in this quality cause this is absolutely amazing.
Awesome video of a SICK drummer! Saw them last month and it blew me away. Amazing. Editor did a great job! As a drummer wanting to see his playing; they showed some rad parts. Lots of drum covers or videos do too many close ups of the player or just one angle of the whole set, this is a fresh mix it all. Got to see Dan killing it as usual😁
A metal drummer how can groove, that’s a lost art at the minute... Way more interesting than the typical smash a cymbal, play the double bass along with the riff and half time the snare that most do
Not really, I’m finding newer guitar based music really boring lately. As for prog I like the original ‘prog’ bands when they just played extended chorus, verses or occasional used odd times to add to the song...like these do. Tool and meshuggah are 2 others who groove too. But many don’t. Most just throw things in for the sake of it. And most rock/metal bands seem to stick to a flavour of the month vibe...this seems popular so we’ll go with it too. The play the riff on the bass drums and smash a cymbal and half time the snare seems to be it at the minute. Obviously in extreme metal it’s a little different as blast beats are the norm and expected.
Well I checked out the first 3 bands you mentioned...nice clean vocals for 2 of em but not really a groove to speak of (like this) half time snare and 8 note bass drum a groove does not make. Between the buried and me aren’t prog, it’s metal with a dose of extreme in there (blastbeat) I do get what you are trying to say but I think you are missing the point of my original comment.... In my opinion rock/metal bands are trying to push boundaries for the sake of it these days almost turning into a competition, how fast can we go, how many time signatures can we fit into a song, how riff changes can we have... All this though creates a problem, the songs aren’t memorable they lack the repetition and interest to keep the listener hooked. These bands clearly have a following though so credit where credit is due it’s just not for me anymore, I’d rather have a catchy hook or 2 to sing along with
*Guys!* Why does the whole Sonder album sound like it's slightly muffled; badly mixed? I've never experienced such thing with anything else & for my sanity's sake checked it on different sound systems, mp3, vinyl, etc. It even sounds that way in this video as well...
cybergrind if they did that so many people would complain about them not evolving. The only downside to sondes is how short it’s one of the best albums they’ve released sonically.
really need to see these guys live at some point...
Triple M they're incredible live
You really should, trust me: you won't regret it.
agreed, been at the shows like 3-4 times - precise and supertight every time. great sound
I have seen Tesseract live three times. One of the best live experience ever. Fantastic band.
Saw them live in Detroit and man were they awesome. Just as good, if not better, than they are in studio.
I'm not sure that I have ever heard a live band with a more thick and massive sound. They sound really good.
I'm not sure that I have ever beard a live band with a more thick and massive sound
kimseniorb beard?
It's the difference that recording the instruments properly makes. It's nothing like the average cellphone video.
Well if you have ever heard them live you'd know that it's well above average sound live aswell.
Check out Devin Townsend Project
2:49 might be the best part on that entire album, it's a great section.
Better mix than the album version!
Bren Jordan Real drums. Makes it hard listening to the album knowing all of it was programmed and that this is how good it could’ve sounded.
@@VioletAOP416 A moment of silence for real drum recording
Even tho it's programmed, the album sounds fucking amazing!!
Jay said he was trying to get real drums on the new album. it's just a logistics because jay lives in america now although he did get an electric kit so he can practice more for the album. also the vocals are mixed way worst on this version (due to obvious reasons).
@@reiniervanzwieten7092 I'd love to hear real drums on some new Tesseract, but honestly the "fake" drums already sound really good haha
Going to see them again in november supported by btbam and plini. Can't wait!
Yo, that is literally the best sounding scream I’ve heard from Dan.
Sad because they didnt play the groove at the end of the album version :( my favorite part of the song. Still spooked from the ghost notes though.
Yeah it's a damn shame. I dunno why they leave stuff like that out. They used to cut off the last part of Nocturne too which sucked.
BOI I'm so glad I hit "Show reply" I was boutta say the same damn thing
George Beedle they leave out that groove because it feels unfinished without also playing The Arrow right after it, and maybe they didn't want to play that live. I do love the ending to Smile though
They do the same with Nocturne, they play the version from the Single without that killer outro riff :(
Kinda high and I see this in my box. Holy shit this is perfect, every instrument crisp in the mix. Gorgeous job!
One of the best djnt drummers🤘👌
This guy is awesome! Hopefully they will come to Portugal someday!!
No hair ! Holy shit. That right hand pattern on the stack at 1:13 is amazingly filthy. The grooves Jay comes out with are just so.....rrrggggg....
Jay - The best groove drummer today!
Perfect audio mix
DAMN!! The quality of these videos is now through the roof! Kudos and keep up the great work! Of course the playing is on point also!
Greg Murphy tesseract always has great live videos
Seeing them again In December, that little bit of Proxy at the end there makes me want more of these vids!
Amazing live sound.
My god i can't wait to see this song live in Sydney in September 😍
Fucking hell, I would lose my shit if I could see this live! Fucking hell this is the best Tessaract song ever!
I blinking whish they'd follow this song on with "the arrow" it really needs to be a part of the set
Got to see Dan killing it as usual😁
that snare sounds so good!
I really wish they'd carry this song into the arrow!!! it's just perfect!
AMAZING SOUND !
Is that Benny Greb?
about to say the same thing lol
Holy fuck. They need to record a whole set. So amazing.
That snare is so phat ! Goodness
The groove is so brutal, it’s like your crash ride is headbanging - at 0:36 - 0:44.
This is mix is insane
fucking shivered at 2:54 the production of echos on those screams.. god damn son
yoooooww this sounds sooo massivee
inmy ears better than the original mix :O veryyy nice low end feelings inside =)
So amazing!
That's some damn good sound quality
1:10 his tom heads look like a liquid with that lighting. Beautiful.
Really great!
freakin shivers down my spine at 2:49
Well played Jay🤘
Where is your luscious hair?!?!?
JustinPayton right?!
JustinPayton apparently he always kinda hated it since it was a bitch to take care of lol
It really is a bitch to take care of long hair. Mine is naturally straight though, so I have easy-mode long hair.
I saw them live two weeks ago and i thought he was his drumtech and their guitarist was him :D
So sick man.
Hope you got to record couple more songs!
Felipe Groth ‘Luminary’
Now thats a great fucking live mix
His wrist technque is really amazing
Holy shit.
On point!
I watch this every day. It’s the song I used in John Lewis to test the headphones I was going to buy
oh hey, i was at this show! i'm in that mosh pit somewhere lol
Great song
Wow that was amazing! Bit bummed the ending in the recorded version wasn't included, but still killer nonetheless!
Tight Af🤘
00:14-00:23 super easy part.
First song of the show.
Boom
It pulls you in, then, boom.
LittyProductions boom boom
🤩🤩🤩
That snare. Sounds like. A good snare
What Snare are you using in this video?? Sounds great, love the quality!!
litty
Those ghost notes are absolutely insane
UMA BOA MÚSICA ; ÓTIMO "
RIP Jay's awesome hair. Damn balding.
Jay Ramahi he’s not balding haha. He said his long hair was quite awful and hard to take care of
Hey, maybe he want to try the Benny Greb look?
I Think he look great he is like Jens Kidman but on the drums
@@mreddyfeelgood My first thought was that Jens was playing drums hahaha
Can you tell me which cymbal accompanies the base of the verse? Greetings from Argentina ... thanks
I didn't know Benny Greb was Tesseract's new drummer!
Beautiful, but too bad the outro isn't played live !
Dislikers,you're "true metalheads",without head...and i'm not smiling...
2:07 "You are an Heinicken"
Anyway great great drumming and band \m/
Francesco Quaiotto damn mannequins drinking the heinickens again!!
Oh no Jay ! HAIR ...

I guess you don't listen to much prog then, because I can name you a dozen drummers that don't do the shit you just mentioned.
Not really, I’m finding newer guitar based music really boring lately. Rockinroomsrob I guess you've never listened to Devin Townsend Project, Between The Buried And Me, The Contortionist, or Haken then
Well I checked out the first 3 bands you mentioned...nice clean vocals for 2 of em but not really a groove to speak of (like this) half time snare and 8 note bass drum a groove does not make. your headphones might be broken or you need to clean your ears
also the vocals are not as prominent in the mix as on Polaris
Because this album is straight garbage
ya'all guys are being really informative
i play gomputer You're welcome. Cheers
Are those Vratim shoes?
That stack tho
Killer
That snare is beefy as fuck
He looks just like Vlad Ulashevich from Jinjer
his hair is gone D:
Come on, is it that hard to get the perfect audio/video sync?
wow the hair are gone
Thick
His tom heads look like water.... or I’m just really stoned
Beautiful ghost notes...but on the other hand it really bothers me when I see amos up there on stage in his skinny jeans barefoot.
All these Euro drummers going bald with beards now. What is this trend?
Benny Greb started it
Ok, things to do today: quit drums
Sonder is bad album... please work around altered state sound.
cybergrind if they did that so many people would complain about them not evolving. The only downside to sondes is how short it’s one of the best albums they’ve released sonically.
