USAF Veteran here, thanks for introducing me to Brick Veteran! Damn it would be awesome if they had models of different munitions. Spoke too soon, see some GBU looking objects on there, so cool
Man, that is a beautiful model! Cody Osell is hands down the best Lego MOC military aircraft designer out there, bar none. Very awesome that you got your hands on two of these beauties. I personally had to pass on this for budget reasons (not that I'd have been lucky enough to get one before it sold out, lol) so I'll have to live vicariously through you, Shy. Looking forward to the E version video!
Fun fact, the Hornet family is the only American aircraft with the F/A designation, also if you want to have a better understanding of AESA or JHMCS, let me know lol
I love the backstory behind VFA-143's name. Apparently (I can't find when) the Squadron Commander's wife commented at some sort of get together that the Squadron emblem of the griffin on the blue shield looked like a "pukin' dog," and the name stuck.
As always, another great Vid Shy! I just received yesterday my Brick Veteran F/A-18 kits; so,while waiting for my shipment, I watched this video like five times!! Even the F-14 is my favorite Cody's jet fighter ever; the Brick Veteran F/A-18 kit has moved the jet kits design to the next level. I haven't seen any other kit with the attention to the details, the extraordinary work of Brick Designers with the printings, and Cody's fidelity to the actual Rhino design!! In my opinion, of all Cody's masterworks to date, this F/A-18 (together with the AC-130) is now THE masterwork!! PS: great to know that Cali Brick Clique has now its channel, congrats to all you guys!!
Great video Shy I love the articulation one the wings and those graphics of the stars jolly Roger really make it pop. The stand is really sturdy looking which is nice and as always I love the information you let us about the jet whilst building. 🐾
@@BrickZOfTheDead the price in USD was pushing $600 already. A custom sound system would have sent it up much more. It didn't even come with any weapons aside from a Brickarms minigun barrel.
Awesome vid. Appreciate hearing your back story, sorry it didn't work out with the pilot career. Never too late to take it up as a hobby though (just maybe nothing quite as exciting) I can't see any of these sets on the brick veteran website?
So cool you finally have such an important set to your history. Independence Day. Epic. Perfect color vision has been the dream breaker for so many aspiring pilots - that really sucks #glassesgang
I think if lego made military lego sets they would be way more affordable than Brickmania and Brick Veteran kits. I think this because lego making a fighter jet is similar to a lego city car or truck which aren't to expensive. But the bugger sets would definitely be expensive.
9:27 I can kinda get away with it. A few years ago lego made a jungle exploration theme with an interesting Minifigure. The minifig was a mechanic but with very interesting detail. It had dog tags. I use it for a sig fig for myself because im also a mechanic in the army. But yeah, I understand what you mean. No Minifigures with uniforms or combat gear come out of lego.
it has nothing to do with, that LEGO does not understand.. its a mere principle.. and they are doing just fine, without any military sets. I understand perfectly, the lost revenue for the US market and ofc rest of the world and ofc but not least, the consumers miss out of authentic LEGO military products... As a Dane.. we are damn proud of LEGO.. what LEGO is, what it stands for.. not saying, we do not endorse or commit to the actual events in the world by assisting with military aid etc.. LEGO is for kids and our way of life is also and has always been very different from the US.. We understand and respect our allies, including the US.. with that said, me myself.. collecting COBI, KAZI, CADA, SEMBO, XINGBAO, PANLOS, and BrickMania military sets on the side, are just pure awsomeness. Dont mind at all, that LEGO does not make any, plenty of others who make quality licensed military bricks..

It's sad that lego doesn't officially make military builds but it's because they don't know who to make the good guys and who to make the bad guys because everyone sees it differently.
Looks like a most excellent build. Question...does it come with landing gear or is is built to be solely displayed in flight? Keep up the awesome work!
Looks dope! Don´t think Lego gonna ever bring militarysets, because its against their company guidelines. For instance...they canceled the release of the Lego technic Osprey #42113 for europe, because it´s acutal military use. During the whole process nobody was aware of that. They thought its a rescue helicopter. At the end ppl. spend thousends of euros in europe to get this.
I wanted this set so bad but had no idea that it released until I saw pictures of it on Instagram. I never saw anything on Cody's or Brick Veteran's Instagram or their website. Is there a specific way to be notified when they release?
@Kiyan Bray Watch the video put out by Brick Veteran. Cody left BKM to work in his family pest control business. Brian, who founded BV, contacted Cody after that.
How the heck did you get one?! How much does it even cost? Each time I saw it announced that it was coming out, it NEVER showed up on the website! I still can't see it! I even saw it announced on the website itself and checked in after receiving the email about it, nothing. I'm both frustrated and confused...

They had a second release recently, but sold out quick. I think there will be a total limit of 180 kits.

Hi Shy! You might have heard of me from Trevor at Brickz Kingdom; I work for him. I bought the instructions for the F-18E and currently building it!
Damn very interesting video. You are an awesome storyteller!
That's a badass set! I'm planning on getting my first Brickmania set later this month of the Humvee M1165A!.
@Kiyan Bray I want the Huey and F14 Tomcat but I’ll get a cheaper set first. What was your first set?

I met two F/A-18 pilots at rimpac who flew from USS Carl Vinson. They both said that the Marine pilots were even better than them (both were navy).
Brickveteran will release as standalone instructions soon 😊
This is why I prefer Cobi sets, they look better and are 1/5 the cost. Still all things considered this is pretty good
