And in the original top gun it was real that he flew in the tomcat of proof of saying “Tom fell in love with aviation while making of Top Gun (1986)” in fact he did fall in love because it was real. And he wouldn’t had fell for it if it was CGI stuff.

I love the attention to detail from the air coming off the wing to the set being destroyed by the Darkstar. The movements on the characters, despite looking off, actually is pretty natural. Just look how Maverick's head moves in 2:03.
OMG!!!! My wife just had goose bumps watching that. I did, too. I mean that is JUST SPOT ON!!! My wife said, despite her not preferring to watch LEGO animated movies, me neither, we'd both would watch this in LEGO in it's full entirety film. Hell if this can be done in with this trailer, I bet, enough time and money, this can be duplicated in a full length feature and we'd go pay to watch it.

@@Xantar it's a mixture of both. The backgrounds and some things are CGI (applied via chroma key), but plenty of it was real stop motion.
