I get a comment almost daily about my marksmith. I got it way back on the kickstarter. People recoil in horror when I tell them how much I paid for it. I use it in a marlin spike knot to tighten ropes while at work. I love it and wish I had gotten it engraved because short of losing it it will last me a lifetime. I am just now having to replace the cartridge as I have been refilling it since new. The tip is now falling apart. Such a great product. Thank you.
That's great to hear! Everyone baulks at the price of things they don't understand, but those same people have their own thing that they will spend money on that others don't understand. Also glad to hear that you were able to refill it. What ink do you use? What is your refill method? I've started weight checking each refill before packaging it. The max filled weight is 5.2 grams, most weigh between 5.1g and 5.2g. Empty and dry is about 4.2g
Thanks. I needed to see how to open the sharpie and your video is the only one I found. I'm a wimp, though. So even with pliers, I almost lost some of the parts because they flew everywhere lol.
Daniel is there any difference between the bodies of the permanent marker body and the highlighter body or is it just the ink cartridges that are different?

The 0.5-1mm of play in the retracted position is intentionally designed because the cartridge must be loose when retracted for the marker cap to stay completely closed and prevent drying out. If no gap was left, then a variation in the tolerances (mostly the marker cartridge length) could cause the marker cap to stay open, and the tip would dry out. The play is no longer apparant when clipped onto pocket. This tolerance and required gap was pointed out in a prior update and video.
If you read the paper that comes with your Marksmith, you will realise the 1mm or so of free-play is intentional, to avoid risk of the plastic seal in the cartridge being pushed slightly open when retracted, which would cause the cartridge to try out. I have just bought 3 Marksmiths (via the Kickstarter campaign), and all three have an identical amount of free play. And all three are amazingly well engineered. I am VERY happy with them!

Only the ink cartridges are different. The Ti body is the same.
Do yall make one that takes the sharpie retractable ultra fine point version or can this one do it

Can the ultra fine tipped refill fit?
The Ultra-Fine tipped refill won't work in the Fine tipped marker body. I will be making another version, Marksmith Ultra-Fine, for the thinner tip.
Received mine today with very poor tolerances. The clip/bolt rattles in the retracted position real bad.

Is it possible to replace the felt tip? I have a ton of ink left but the tip is shot…
