Daimeon Shrader I was thinking the same thing water just keeps the grass moving I thought it was a very simple answer to this problem but they had to make it like ok like something unnatural it happening
no hes saying ice does this in frozen rivers and such. The flowing water makes the patch rotate and the reason it doesn't disappear like the reed islands is because the eye is living while the islands are dead.
The problem with that comparison is, the ice phenomenon relies on relatively fast moving water that causes the ice island to rotate continuously in an eddy. That rotation bumping it against the outside edges lops off any irregularities and is what makes it round. There was no evidence of fast moving water in the video above, and certainly not continuous rotation. It might be a similar effect powered by wind though, if there's some natural cycle that causes it to switch through several directions over a relatively short period of time (a few days at a time) causing the island to drift around in a circle.

Well,
'it is floating' is obvious.
It is symmetrical for the same reason stones become round and smooth, it is going around and around in the middle bit and is smoothing the sides, as you can see the island is perfectly circle, more of an oval.
It is moving around because the wind is blowing it, also it is floating...

Time Remap I think it might be how the earth moves and the shape is probably what happened is that there was a drought and the island was formed with the cracks to make the shape we see and so if it keeps moving it will get bigger and bigger........my thoughts
I live in Canada and I have obseved a similar phenomenon on rivers in winter. When it gets really cold, a layer of ice can form on rocks and expand over the water. It forms kind of a dome over the river. When the ice gets too heavy, a large piece breaks and falls into the river, but get stuck into the remaining ice layer. As the current make it spin, it rubs on the sides, cutting it to a perfect circle.
That is cool, and is probably some plains stuff thought because I have not heard of that

The reason it’s a symmetrical circle is the fact that it rotates inside the CIRCULAR hole, the methane gas, it’s rotting grass from underneath the mass. Natural Floating bogs of vegetation are found all over the world. One the size of a tennis court broke free on the lake we vacation on in WI and started drifting a mile. It was hauled back by boats and literally tied to the shore again.

These floating islands are not that uncommon. I imagine it is just blown by the wind. The island is nearly as bug as the lake, and if it bumps into the banks on the lake shore, it could be kept quite round for a very very long time.

It's a big giant floating amount of Reed that miraculously formed in the right location to sustain its circular rotation without tangling or breaking apart. It is just like those discs of ice that form and spin in place until they melt. Except floating pads of Reed don't melt. The Rotating island of Reed has gotten so big it's own momentum overcomes any Mainland Force to slow it down.
