I love how Simpson's bailiff can read Simpson's mind and always is in the proper position to enforce his orders and protect him from altercations. He should teach at "How to be a bailiff" school.

At 2:09, the judge very casually says "Mr. Allen" (the bailiff is Mr. Allen). Bailiff then took up his position behind the defendant. The judge read the situation early, and anticipated that little Miss Attitude would be booking into the Graybar Hotel.

@@debbiegeorge2014The attorney knows what their client tells them. The attorney’s role is to provide a defense for their client. Even if he suspected her of lying, he didn’t have the probation report which, fortunately, Judge Simpson was kind enough to provide a copy.
He is not risking his license to practice law, passing at least one bar, and seven years of university for some pitiful girl (who probably never graduated high school and, if she works a legit job, she isn’t splitting atoms), who’s almost certainly using harder substances than weed.
The public defender is often in front of Judge Simpson. He isn’t going to jeopardize that relationship.

When the bailiff walks behind the defendant, you know a remand is likely. She'd been better off telling the truth and admitting to use. Even if you will come back positive, never miss a test. Judges realize it's hard to stop at first, and you will have some positives. It just shouldn't be a trend, and you should be ending pretty quick. Well, unless you want to go to jail and get free food/lodging.

A friendly little tip for everyone from someone who works in the courts and with the jurists . . .
IT IS NEVER A GOOD IDEA TO LIE TO A JUDGE.
IT IS NEVER A GOOD IDEA TO LIE TO A JUDGE THAT IS PRESIDING OVER YOUR CASE.
Do NOT play games in court - for that is a game that YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE. Just 'fess up, tell the truth and deal with whatever happens.
More often that not: It's the lie in court that will get you in worse trouble than the actual accusation one is accused of. DO. NOT. LIE. TO. A. JUDGE. EVER.

I went to my cell phone provider for a loaner (which I have done before & received a short term phone to use, but not now, it seems). It was arranged that the employee would call me (yes, a help). But, when I got home, a neighbor had returned. I borrowed his phone, & finally found mine in my car. Thank goodness! So much is stored in that small piece of digital equipment! Now, I have a neon cell case, and a cross body cell phone purse (to even wear in the house!). It’s, sometimes, not easy being 80!! 😊 And, then I see these noodle brains in these cases and I wonder, “why?!?” They are wasting their lives. The end. Amen!😀❤️😀 (If you read this, thank you!)

IMO, she’s still lying, as well. I think she was smoking during the first 9 days of January when she failed to report or test, and she denied that for some inexplicable reason. Not to mention the lies about the phone that judge Simpson pointed out, and claiming she could stop smoking whenever she wanted.
Great job, as always, by Judge Simpson.

"to her credit she did eventually uh she did eventually come forth and tell your honor the truth uh she's came clean with me..." key word is EVENTUALLY. Wow, just wow! The legal term Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus("false in one thing, false in everything") is oh, so obvious here

*How can you vigorously represent your client if you haven’t even read the violation report?*
    🧐
_We get it, PDs are busy but at least announce that fact at the beginning of the proceedings and request to see the violation report before Judge Simpson has to admonish you to review it…WITH your client_
    Sheesh.
