    Kipon said KIPON former sales staff who stole all the blueprint, they copy all kinds of kipon products. That was disaster !!!!!!

      @@rafikduy Jesus, I had no idea. No wonder they perform exactly the same (even with the corner softness). Great find.

    i have a whole set of mamiyas and have learned so far that the main difference is that first gut feeling you get. “oh this feels nice” vs “oh this looks nice”

      Indeed, it is unique. What do you think about 80mm f1.9 (if you have it that is)?

      @Shauny_D 7 місяців тому

      @@EndlessEnergy i got the 2.8. The 1.9 is way too hard to find without haze and other issues. And for video i’m going to live around 2.8-4 anyway so didn’t feel the need.

      @@Shauny_D Understandable, and the prices for mint f1.9 are inflated to say the least 👍

      @@EndlessEnergy yep i was able to fill out my set for the price of just that lens haha. I like the 35mm and 45mm the best anyway 80 is too tight for me

    I get what you are saying but hear me out. A speedbooster is an adapter with a corrective lens. So basically, we are adding a glass element to the existing optical design of the lens. This is what a manufacturer would do if they were making the wider lengths. So when you use a 45mm lens with a booster it means you are using a 32mm lens. That's it. The sensor will only change when the actual real estate of the sensor increases. This is like saying if I use a wider lens on a camera, it becomes medium format.

      @@guptageneralstores5243 This is absolutely correct! And yet when i look at the photos from my mamiya and compare them to sony with a booster they are surprisingly similar. So even though it is an illusion, it is a damn good one 🙌

    Love the Mamiya 45mm! Been using it adapted to my GFX 50S II. Been looking at the Irix 45mm F1.4, but holding off for now. Excited to see more people get into FF cameras, I doubt Sony ever will but it would be impressive to see them push the limits and other manufacturers.

      I almost bought GFX 100 II, if it weren't for those silly crops ... But I get it, it's probably bleeding edge tech and the price is more than fair so we have to wait it out :) I'm gonna take a look at Irix 45mm f1.4, sounds fun!

    I recently bought one of these and had to return it. While it's a great product the amplification of the lenses natural characteristics because of the speedbooster made the image unusable for my purposes. There was a lot of haze and fuzz even though my lens was pretty good quality. I ended up just using the regular adapter without the speedbooster and the image was a lot more crisp. I would only use a speedbooster with these lenses if I was getting them rehoused - I believe they do some work to the glass to get them to the optimum quality for speedboosting.

      This is definitely not for everyone. Especially if you need crisp & sharp wide establishing shots, on the other hand for shooting interviewies and portraits in feauture films it does a great job. Rehousing process in no way tampers with the glass, it merely rehouses the lens and preserves its original performance 👍

    you have interesting take on exposure because to me all the shoot look like acceptable over-exposure... maybe that makes tests look a bit worse than real life usage suggests. but still on your own real world tests i did not feel it at all. i wonder how sharp in the corners is my kipon booster.

      @EndlessEnergy  6 місяців тому

      @@zigmej I've yet to see a MF speed booster with sharp edges (I've compared a couple of models with my friends). Do tell if you feel yours is sharper!

      @@EndlessEnergy im in a process of buying 45mm mamiya so will see. i suspect it will be a bit better probably but thing here is that 45 and especially 35mm is softer towards the edges naturally. when 45mm arrives i will check that compared to 80mm and that should give us some clues.
