This was a great tutorial, thank you. I do want people to know that nail polish remover is highly flammable so please be very careful with it near any open flame. You cannot see the flame when it catches on fire and if it is on your skin you can be badly burned. It won’t catch fire in the oven but will near an open flame or spark.
I get the best results with water, I leave the water on longer, adding water to keep wet, I make sure the transfer is complete before I remove the papers
I’m sure I just watched a video where someone used water 💦 to wet the face of the clay with a finger & then placed the paper/image on, wet the back by dabbing with a wet finger until all the image was wet & showing through the back of the paper. Great video good luck everyone.
I tried this with plain acetone from the paint department. It works! Mine didn't come out as dark, but I guess I just have to change the settings on the printer to use the most toner...Thank you for this tute, I'm so happy not to have to make decals or buy special papers!!
Love the black and white images their so bold and would look great as drop's on fine black cord with silver fitting's around our neck or drop earring's,worn with any clothing they would be stunning.
Some really stunning results! Thanks for sharing. But I'm wondering if any special precautions are necessary before baking the clay since both acetone and alcohol are flammable.
I have no words for your channel...you are sharing all your knowledge ..learning so much....i have just entered in designing jewelry with cold Porcelain...dont know if it will work on it but I ll try for sure...Thank u so much... Happy Teachers Day❤
Oh my, I really like this way of getting images on the polymer clay. These are all Beautiful. This gives me something else to create. Thanks for sharing your video with all of us. ❤️
Is your laser printer, black and white? I would guess you could use a colored laser printer also but I really like what you did with the markers and pencils.
Is the nail polish remover one with acetone? What about trying straight acetone? On the UA-cam site The Crafsman, he did image transfers with the image printed on the shiny part of backing paper for stickers. I guess baking parchment would be a similar type of surface. Anyway, it worked really well!
Thank you, Ellen! I showed just a simple, quick and inexpensive way to get a good result for image transfer:) yes, the polish remover is contained an acetone! I don't have straight acetone:)
I tried this on normal printer paper I wrote with a ink marker and tried to transfer it to clay using acetone. It didn't transfer it left a blur of ink and ruined the clay too. So what did I do wrong? Please give me advice thanks
Dear Ludmila, thanks so much for sharing with us, i really appreciate. İ Tried nail polish method on Air dry clay but it did not work. Could you please tell a way for air dry clay how to transfer the image?
I think it must depend on the brand of PC because another UA-camr (after watching you) tried with water and it worked perfectly (after leaving to set for one hour). That really surprised me.
Could you list the ingredients in your nail polish remover? The label says “essential oils” but I’m wondering what ingredient in the nail polish remover actually transfers the image. Have you tried this with straight acetone, which is the key ingredient in most nail polish removers?
@@sharonmays7083 Hi. Just going to chime in here. The ability for the transfer to take place has EVERYTHING to do with the toner in the printer. The make and model matter. I have no less than 3 different lasers; 2 color, one black and only the black worked. It is an old model Samsung (I've had it for over 10 years). My two color lasers are a Brother that prints 2400x600 and a Samsung that prints 4800x4800 (very fine for a laser). Neither color transferred using this method and my clay was very fresh and sticky. In fact, the color Samsung's toner doesn't even take an oven well and the yellow fades almost completely if heated for too long. Also, I have read that toners that do not use "fuser oil", don't work very well when transferring to polymer clay, and unfortunately, the older model lasers are the ones that utilized this. Some print shops have printers that still use fuser oil so you might be able to have sheets printed at a printer and just keep them on hand. My tried and true method is to burnish onto the surface, bake my plastic, then rub off the paper under running water. I *really* wanted the nail polish remover to work, her results are amazing!
after burnishing the image thoroughly, leave the paper on while baking. the heat alone will transfer the image. when clay has cooled, wet the paper & gently rub it off. the image will stay on the clay
The pens that you use are they water based or permanent markers. Also I love the happy accidents that the water created and the other that failed but semi printed
ever tried tinner? It works for transferring images from a magazine to paper so I guess will work on clay as well. (if it doesn't do funny things to the clay....)
Людмила, как всегда очень интересно, спасибо за эксперимент. Я так поняла, что лучше всего переводить картинку с помощью жидкости для снятия лака??? И ещё хотела уточнить что за маркеры у вас., на спиртовой основе?

sharpies will run when you add the acetone or alcohol

So perfect, it really helped me, thank you x
Does it have to be printed on a LASER printer?
My question as well
If you leave the paper on until the clay dries, all your color will transfer. Then use your finger and get it wet to take the paper off.
Amazing design
