Nah, the EV fanbois already bought theirs, the rest will buy hybrids, most will buy ICE cars and the rest will keep on driving their old cars, like me. Im driving around with a 2004 Buick, has close to 200k miles and still running strong..

Proceeded to school her about the general classes of chargers (and i know for a fact that the charger at that shopping mall IS NOT a type 3) so its more a few hours of charging instead of “under half an hour”. And further reminded her that absolutely nobody outside the official dealer (which there is only 3 in a hundred mile radius) can work on that thing if it starts a hissy fit. Also told her it would be better off declaring it a total loss rather than trying to sell it when the time comes when she wants to let go of it, coz that thing will be worth less than the material cost that made it.
I don’t care they exist, just don’t mandate people to buy them. Let the market decide. Scenario: if the Golden Gate Bridge had bumper to bumper traffic with all EV’s, would it survive the weight?
You now have to wonder when the combined failure rates of ICE and EV will hit the hybrids. More complicated systems have more failure points and probability will happen in the fullness of time.

Dude, 15 year old Priuses are still being driven around, n theyre still selling for around 7k in the used market despite the age n mileage. N its been that long, means aftermarkets for last gen Priuses (and other toyota hybrids of similar gen tech) is pretty good for the old but reliable NiMH battery packs. N it dont even need heavyduty specialized machinery. Just need two dudes to take out the battery pack. Theyll put on a table n test the modules, n replace the modules that r affected, n put that battery pack back in. They dont even need a car jack coz those batteries are inside the car, either behind the rear passenger or underneath the passenger seat. Barely a one day job.
The magic of hybrids is u have two system sharing the duty. This isnt like downsizing n turbocharging where the the turbocharging system adds more stress to the engine. Most of the crap that deals the most wear n tear to an ICE - stop go traffic, town driving - is done by the e-motor, n modern hybrids can have e-drive up to 30mph or more. Then when things get faster n u need more power, only then the ICE kicks in. The two systems back each other up. N read up on the atkinson cycle n how they managed it by just fiddling with the camshaft timing. The side affect of atkinson’s cycle is it keeps the engine cooler, believe it or not.
my neighbor loves his tesla... everyday he drives back and forth to Toronto 90 miles each way, he gets home and plugs the car in just like that, it works perfectly and is extremely economical, here our power is cheap which is a bonus. HE LOVES HIS TESLA WINTER SPRING SUMMER AND FALL, and he has other cars too, that seem to go nowhere, he always drives the tesla
Evs in china are super cheep. This is what people want affordable cars. Ice or evs have to be way cheaper to be selling well.. trying to sell 100k vehicles is never going to be popular in 2025.
Meanwhile average age of car on roads keeps climbing because people don't have money for new cars. Also in many respects older cars are better than new ones.
Who in there right mind wants to buy a ev , if the batteries gets puncture, or damages your insurance company will write the car 🚗 off as a loss And a replacement battery 🔋 starting at 20 thousand dollars and up. Keep in mind insurance for ev are way expensive than gas car. Thank you democratic for pushing american to a product they can not afford, and has two many issues that could cost you your life.
Like the Stanley Steamer, EV’s will eventually fail too. Even people who own them don’t want another one. We could switch to a renewable non-polluting fuel like alcohol much easier than “reinventing the wheel” hurdles to get to EV’s.
make the batteries non proprietary and easily accessible and removable, and allow the user to take the amount of batteries he needs for his trip... standardize the batteries and make them user friendly, then I'll buy a plaid
They should try making ginger Billy's electric side by truck it's small, pushable if the battery gets flat out and you can park it even on the sidewalk
Why can't you replace battery at charging station , for eg U pay replace U R battery of full charge next thing E V CARS MUST BE SMALLER SO LESS CONSUMPTION OF BATTERY ,WE CAN USE IN CITIES AND ON HIGHWAYS HYBRID CARS BUT BUT COMPANY MUST REDUCE THE COST OTHERWISE VERY DIFFICULT FOR E V CARS THAT'S MY VIEW OTHERWISE U KNOW THE BEST
The real reason is that the best EVs are not sold by dealers. Tesla rivian lucid all sell direct no dealers involved Tesla brand has the highest owner loyalty of any manufacturer. Ford f150 no longer the best selling vehicle in the USA. Even model Y outsells the f150.
This whole discussion is ridiculous. The perfect solution to all climate change emissions has arrived, albeit late which may explain why few people are promoting it. Hydrogen will power everything (along with existing renewables) in the future. The most important issue holding this transition back is the lack of an adequate re-fueling hydrogen network. ALL THAT MATTERS NOW IS TO BUILD AN ADEQUATE HYDROGEN REFUELING NETWORK ACROSS THE WORLD.
My local Ford dealer hid the electric F150s at the back of the lot. When I asked to test drive one, I was told why I wouldn't want to do that. More lies per minute than Trump. - Gen Z
First, dealers can't sell EVs because they are not useful in that area. That's the reason why Tesla doesn't use dealers; they would simply add costs for the customers. Second, EV sales are increasing worldwide. Third, Tesla makes a lot of profits by selling pure EVs. Fourth, to conquer the market, electric cars (EVs) only have to be technically superior to the Internal Combustion Engine cars (ICE). It’s clearly the case. 1. EVs are simpler to make: Tesla, for instance, has reduced the number of pieces for the front part of the vehicle from 70 pieces to only one. (It’s the same thing for the rear part of its vehicles.) 2. Tesla, BYD and Volvo demonstrated that it was possible to produce profitable EVs; something legacy producers like GM or Toyota are unable to do. It’s because they feared bankruptcy that many companies stopped producing EVs. 3. The price of EVs is falling rapidly due to the rapidly falling price of their batteries (- 30% in 2023). 4. No cobalt or nickel are used to produce the most modern EVs. 5. EVs pollute much less than ICE cars, especially when they move. 6. EVs are more stable on roads because their heavy batteries are located at the bottom of the car. 7. EVS protect better their occupants when there is a collision due to the rigidity of their battery packs. 8. There are fewer than ten (10) moving parts in an EV engine compared to more than a thousand in an ICE car. That reduction in the number of pieces means that less machinery are used to produce them. As a result, producing electric cars creates less pollution. 9. EVs accelerate more rapidly than ICE cars when their drivers try to overtake other cars. 10. The brakes on an EV last much longer due to their regenerative braking system. 11. The dashboard of an EV is much simpler to produce since almost all the controls are on the on-board computer. 12. There are fewer liquids in an EV (windshield cleaning fluid, battery fluid). 13. EVs are roomier than ICE cars because their engines are much smaller. 14. Most technical problems on an EV can be solved ¨over the air¨ without having to go to a dealer. 15. EVs don’t need to go to the dealer for regular maintenance. 16. Everybody can buy an EV on the Internet without having to go to a dealer. 17. Recharging an EV is 80% cheaper than filling the tank of an ICE car. 18. Nowadays, there are multiple ways to produce electricity. (N.B. In 2023, solar panels are the cheapest way to produce electricity. And they almost never need long transmission lines). 19. Nowadays, charging stations are everywhere while the number of gas stations is decreasing. 20. Contrary to ICE cars, EVs can be recharged at home. 21. EV owners say they have no problem with the autonomy of their vehicle. 22. If EVs explode from time to time, 200,000 ICE cars explode every year in USA. 23. Finally, we need to replace ICE cars with EVs for two other reasons. First, because petroleum is becoming scarcer on the planet and, second, because we all need to stop depending on an explosive region like the Middle East for our main source of energy. 24. Etc.
