The reality is there are a limited amount of stupid people who will pay the prices the manufacturers and dealers want. Once the dealers have to finance these overpriced vehicles on their floor plan, they will be asking Stellantis to give them promo money or buy them back. Don't buy now let them rust on the lots.

My 27 year old cousin works in construction and said he needed a new truck for work. I asked him doesn’t the company have a truck for supply deliveries of lumber and materials and he said it did. After confirming he does not need a truck to do his work ,but to only drive to work , I asked him why he was buying a truck that costs nearly 70k . Basically he stated because all his coworker have similar new trucks and he was jokingly heckled for driving his old Saturn sedan. Which is paid off and is running pretty well. I tried to help him understand that his truck payment should not be more than his apartment rent. Sadly it was pointless exercise and I didn’t want to harm our relationship so I backed off rather quickly.

Another reason why Jeep Gladiators aren’t selling because they flip very easy in accidents. Go watch its crash test video. A 35mph small overlap caused the vehicle to lift off of its wheels and slam on its side, and roll in some tests - and some showed signs of the roof caving in when it rolled. They are not safe vehicles.

Many buyers are still in waiting list for their desired models and preferred trims.
My 2021 Sienna Hybrid is still running flawlessly like brand new, just drop by for a synthetic oil and filter change after 10K miles (February 2024-August 2024). Cost of oil change service and rear wiper replaced is $73, cheaper than Zippy Lub.

Good thing you bought your Camry when you did. Now they are only selling hybrid Camrys in 2025 and the base price is at $29,595 before dealership fees and taxes, bringing the base price to $35,000 or about $12,000 more than you paid (or $9000 more at the non-Costco price you stated). Cars are not very cheap anymore. I bought a slightly used 2023 Mazda CX-5 for $10,000 less than MSRP (3000 miles on the odometer). Best purchase I have made in some time.

the sales numbers of all of these cars are hampered by a common element: price. As far as the ZDX goes, it is a kissing cousin to the Cadillac Lyriq. Not sure if that is part of the equation but the people I know that would buy a Honda or Acura would shy away from a GM product due to reliability.

Yeah. More and more people want alternatives to cars and hate the money pits car ownership get you. Many hate the whole prospect of driving.
They are so expensive and I know young people whose lives are all ruined by their lack of car ownership. They can't get a job without a car but need a job for a car.
Some people are in good positions to live without a car.
Also it will only get more hard to compete in the car industry. The US and Europe market have matured and are even shrinking. China is rejecting legacy brands and buying their own brands. The auromakers need to show constant growth. And they are some of the most indebted companies in the world.
I really like cars but the whole system is honestly crumbling.

Not in part, in WHOLE. Bean counters always ruin the sales of decent designs. Cheapen the product until it won't sell anymore is their motto; then, reintroduce it by making it just a LITTLE better, and change the product's name and call it a new, improved design. Corporations have been shooting themselves in the foot for decades. What's worse, they know it, as executives do whatever they can to temporarily increase sales, then jump ship to another company with the bragging rights of 'Look what a great job I did at XYZ Co.! Then they repeat the same over and over over time, making sure that they all have a golden parachute clause in their contracts.

I have typically bought Hondas, look after them and keep them for a long time. My 1995 Odyssey did 25 years and I sold it. My 2014 Odyssey is running like new (wife’s car) and my “new” 2020 CRV is running great. Paid about $32k for it. Anyone who buys to have something flashy or to support their ego or image needs to reset their priorities. Buy based on low running cost stats, reliability, look after them and keep them for a long time. You will avoid debt and have money in the bank.

The replacement parts are $2,000 per side and have a 6 to 9 month back order for availability. This combined with a transmission issue makes them a poor choice for businesses even though they have one of the best engines in the heavy duty pick-up market. My friend's business owns 7 of these trucks and 5 are side lined waiting on new hub assemblies and the 6th is in for a transmission replacement at only 37,000 miles.
