- This video shows how to disassemble and clean the fresh air intake vents/screens on a 96 Lexus ES300.. Vents are located at base of windshield below windshield wipers.. Should apply to all early/mid/late 90's Lexus ES300 and Toyota Camry models..
Great video, thank you so much. Well explain and easy to understand for the non mechanical inclined people.
Glad to have helped..
I didn't even know this was a thing...I have a 18 year old 4runner that I've taken all over the country so I'm going to take a look this weekend and give it a good clean out.
This is one of those videos that's going to come in real Handy for someone, for a really long time! LOL I noticed I had water in my floorboard but I knew it was Dripping so my first thought was to clean out the leaves and stuff that I could with my hands. Hopefully I won't have to do this whole process but at least I'll know how, thanks to this video! It was pretty bad, where I live is covered in trees and when I pulled the dirt out of the vent, there was a small ant bed an ant started crawling away and this is only maybe 6 months of build up. I saw ants just crawling all over the place and I was like OMG! I think it's been doing this for a while but I just recently noticed it. It's only when it rains, that's how I figured out it was under the wipers. I subbed, thanks again!
Getting ready to do this on my 2000 Es300. The previous owner parked it under a silver maple, and it smells as bad as yours looked! Great video!
Yeah I've cleaned mine twice since this video.. It sits under a pecan tree..
Very thorough, well made video. Thank you.

Thanks. I was looking for this kind of video for my 2015 Toyota camry Hybrid that has weird smell coming out of vents only when I turn fan on, which mean there are some obstruction in vents.
Damn.....this is useful...thanks my man

This is perfect. I need to clean my Camry97 but couldn't find any vid until now. Thanks. Any tip you can give on what to use to seal the gap between the lower edge of windshield and upper part of the cowl? I think I get air leaks which is especially noticeable when riding behind a diesel truck.
your cowl doesn't actually seal out air.. there's adhesive sealant on the underside of your windshield all the way around that does that.. if that sealant fails that would allow fumes to get into your cabin as you describe but if that was the case you would hear the air leaking in I would think.. or, the door within your dash that opens/closes to let you go from fresh air to recirculating air may not be operating/closing properly.. that would let in fumes also..
They charge $30-50 for the seal! Depends on where you buy it.
Thankyou

I've noticed that Armorall has several products. Which one should I use?
If you're going with ArmorAll this is specifically for restoring faded plastic:www.lowes.com/pd/Armor-All-8-fl-oz-Car-Exterior-Cleaner/1002650808
Is fresh air vent door accessible from inside or outside? It is not sealing very good and I pick up exhaust smell from vehicles in front of me even when I have recirculate on.
Recirc let's about 10% outside air in actually...
How come there is no rubber seal on the top edge of that plastic cowl between the windshield and the cowl?
i guess any water that gets underneath the cowl would cause no harm.. it would just run down the windshield then drain out under the car..
My Camry97 and there's plastic between the upper part of cowl and windshield but it's so old that most of it is broken off. I figured that's why I can smell the outside air (foul smells) when I have all airways closed
Does this process work for the 06 is350?
I would think it would be a similar process..
Rx350 air intake clean
i have a 96 lexus es300. I have been getting water on my passenger floor. Im certain its coming from the cowl. but i dont see anything about where the water will be going into that will lead to the floor? Any tips
Can you tell if it leaks only when it rains?? Sunroof drain holes??

Or, I know it's December but A/C drain?? This shows 97 Camry but very similar to Es300: ua-cam.com/video/L0LbCOxE77g/v-deo.html
