Had the pleasure of being good mates with Crispin at primary school in Alton, Staffordshire in the 1970s...& it was a pleasure cos he was a really nice kid. Not seen him since around 79. I'm so glad he did well.
Ah that’s cool buddy! He’s still doing well, chair of the Ivors Academy and active in improving rights for songwriters. Growing up in the 90s in Sheffield this band came along just at the right time for me!
Truly a beautiful version you've done there.Maximum respect! After years of trying (and regularly failing!) to hit those chorus notes I think I might follow your lead and give the capo a go.Crispin Hunt was/is an amazing songwriter and Hawley was the perfect guitarist for the band.Their singles were all perfect and they shoulda been massive.
I know 😭 The way Crispin wrote songs and the incredible talent of Richard Hawley, they should have been releasing records ever since - unbelievable run of bad luck and mistreatment by record labels, I feel personally robbed!!
Many attempt to cover this song and few nail it like you have here. Congrats doing an immensely wonderful rendition. I especially like the strings you've added at the end, providing build-up and aheightened finish to an underrated and beautiful piece of music...
Ah, thank you Jack! I wonder if the mistake people make is trying to get close to Crispin’s original vocal - which, I don’t know if you’ve tried, is absolutely impossible 😂 I appreciate your kind words, I really do 🤝
My god that was good. You made it your own in my opinion. That is one of the best songs that is so overlooked I feel. It's my favorite by Longpigs even though I love other songs by them. It just hits me deep. I guess that's what love does to you.
Thanks buddy - that’s cool, where did you see them? I managed to catch them at the Octagon and at Don Valley Bowl, so glad I did - they burned bright for such a short time
Cheers Tommy! I usually try and not copy songs but mix it up a bit and let the lyrics take centre stage. I don’t know about you but these songs I loved as a kid, I often missed how brilliant the songwriting is! Glad you enjoyed it pal and thank you for the comment x

100% agree pal - hope you get on better with this key!
Amazing! Thanks for posting. I can't believe it's been over 25 years since this song was released.

Nonsense. No way is it 25years. Otherwise that’d make me……… Oh. Bugger.
Superb.

Absolutely beautiful, I'm sure the brilliant Richard hawley would be well chuffed with this.
Ah thank you Dylan, he’s an absolute hero of mine and just ages like a fine wine. Certainly isn’t going gentle into that good night 💪
