Coming from an American perspective, we see racism coming from many blacks towards Jews, whites and Asians. This is a thing here that isn’t really allowed to be talked about but that still doesn’t make it not a thing. Why this racism is manifest is certainly open to discussion and probably understandable as many bad behaviors are, but, in my opinion shouldn’t undermine the fact that its still a bad behavior. And, as any competent person knows, bad behaviors should be recognized as such and corrected as soon as possible to stop the behavior from becoming “habitualized” and therefore harder to extinguish. What bad behaviors shouldn’t be is excused or swept under the rug. How these behaviors should be dealt with IS open for discussion understanding that the operative idea undergirding this idea is that the behavior should be addressed. I worry that there are too many apologists out there undermining real and thoughtful discussions about such thing. Big love all.

Because historically these groups are their own ethnic groups generally speaking within the white overall group (like anglo-saxon is, or breton is). These groups have been either on the extermination list within living memory over in mainland Europe or within the UK faced cultural attacks from the central government to the point it could be argued to be a form of cultural genocide. (this is not a meme/hyperbole, the way that GRT have been treated as recently as the last decade would be considered truly evil if performed on other communities)
She is effectively saying this hatred and bigotry doesnt exist or if it does exist, it isnt race based/isnt as bad as that faced by the black community which is highly ignorant and downplaying the real racial issues against white ethnic minority groups in the UK which are often ignored. Nobody says that the black community doesnt suffer, but she is effectively trying to do the "we suffer more" card and heavily downplaying or outright ignoring the other groups issues which is horrible.
Just like if 1 black ethnic group attacks another like in say Ethiopia or Sudan as is happening now based on that ethnic difference is racism, same applies in white populations too.

How on earth have you defended her? She's a clear racist, she thinks people who are white cannot be victims of racism. She's said derogatory things about white people before, absolutely gone after Jewish people before, whom she seems to think are all white, apparently she doesn't know Jews come in all colours.
On top of that she's frankly so low on IQ her two examples she used in this piece, when claiming Irish peo never suffered racism, were examples of them not being oppressed in America and South Africa, completely ignoring the history of Britain and Ireland. The good Friday agreement's 25 th birthday was only last week, she should know better.

That letter was completely offensive, factually wrong and should never have been sent.
However I don’t believe that Abbott is a hateful person and I think that I understand what she was TRYING to articulate.

Every nation has racists within. It comes as no surprise that in a multicultural setting each culture has its own share of racists. My family is multicultural, so we've seen it from many angles; we ignore racists, I certainly wouldn't want one as a relative, a neighbour, or a friend. Who in their right mind would? Diane has a very long history of being out of touch with RL and it really shows here. The time for her swansong is a tad overdue.
The thing we need is to move away from multiculturalism, we need to be multiracial with one foundation culture, then we're all on the same page. Multiculturalism has done nothing but harm to the UK, to the point people in the media now ask what are British values, what is British culture.

Here's where she should have expanded. The Irish and the Jewish are white Caucasian. This means that unlike Black and Asian ethnic minorities, the colour of their SKIN means that they pass as white and also rather than the focus of discrimination be on their racial heritage and ethnicity, it is based on cultural practices. This is true. Its undeniable. Even so, does it still constitute as the definition of racism? Yes. It does. It's just different. I get what she was TRYING to say but I also see why it's offensive. You can't publish these kind of sentiments without explaining WHY its different to the racism experienced by blacks and Asians, etc.
