Idyllwild is beautiful. My son started his PCT adventure from Idyllwild back in 2016. I dropped him off and sat in the parking lot and cried, watching my little boy (20 years, LOL) leaving for his trek. He finished and mom was so proud.
Have a nice trip, Joey. You will be missed traveling with Catherine! Thank you, Catherine, for sharing your adventures! Be safe. God bless you both 🙏 🙏
Hope you stay comfortable enough during these colder months! Safe travels & good luck to you & Joey. Hope you two travel together often my favorite duo
Yes, Winter is here weatherwise. You probably wish your trailer was with you. May be time to head south in search of warmer days. Enjoy the area wherever you land!
Great vid, Cat. If you haven't already thrown out your broken tea pot, one thing you could do with it is to make a little planter out of it and continue to enjoy your old friend. As always, thanks for taking us along. Be safe, have fun, and we'll see you in the next video!
That is so cool to see you finally in Southern California! Lived here all my life and have been to Idyllwild many times. They have a wonderful nursery there with so many cool things for outside. Enjoy your stay.
Idyllwild wilderness is an amazing adventure. I was just as surprised when my son and I visited. It is as an amazing little town. Very cozy and refreshing to one’s wellness.
Ah Cat…where is Joey going? I just bought a little trailer to pull behind my Jeep for my solo adventures when the hubby can’t go. Hope to see ya out there somewheres 😊
Catherine, your adventures are always amazing! The peaceful mountain vibes, fall colors, and that cozy chili by the fire-pure magic. 🌲❄️ You make 34°F nights seem like a dream with your zero-degree sleeping bag and warm energy. Joey is such a great travel buddy, and Idyllwild sounds like a perfect breakfast escape. Looking forward to seeing you back in the trailer soon! Safe travels and keep sharing these heartfelt journeys. 🛻🍂✨
What is yummy video! I’ve got one of those tea kettles because I loved yours so much! I could almost smell the wet leaves, it was so much like the forest when it rains. Amazing!
A small tip for Cat. Try putting "one tea bag" with the paper tag hanging out in the pot while boiling your water. I get about four cups tea when I do this.
So refreshing to see this. I just got off a 23 day transatlantic cruise and I am done with people. Unfortunately many were rude which surprised me as average age was probably late 60’s. Anyway found out I’m definitely more of an introvert as I get older. I’ll be getting my minivan ready when I get back did a long road trip from WA to CA and AZ. Thanks for all the inspiration! Could you do a 23 day cruise? lol. Never again.
Thanks for the video. I haven't been to Idyllwild in over 40 yrs. Back in the 70's we lived down in the desert and we would go up there in the summer to cool off.
Now you're in my old back yard. I've camped up at San Jacinto for years when I used to live in the area below. That's my old stomping grounds. But I stayed in the Yellow Post campsites that are all over those mountains. Great free camping. I have videos of some of my time up there. My niece Chelsea Walsh and her climbing friend, an NFL football player, Gavin Escobar both died at the Tahquitz Climbing Site when a rappel ahchor gave way and they both fell 200 feet to their deaths. You can look that up if you want. Sad story for sure. So the place has even more meaning to me now. I've never stayed in a pay site up there so I don't recognize the place you were in. We got our first dusting of snow the other night. Winter is just about here. Happy Sunday Cat.
Is it the tailgate handle or the piece behind the handle. If some has posted one online I could print you a few and send them your way. A Quick Look online seems to show the thing behind the handle as always bresking
Beautiful scenery thanks for sharing I don't get to travel to that part of California I'm in a tractor trailer as a passenger but I love the great out doors an I love photography
Great video,Cat. We’ve spent many years camping in the area. Hurkey Creek is also good and the sites are more level. It has been some time since we have been there because of the flooding and the fires. Always fun to see where you are going to pop up next. Be safe out there. ❤️
When I saw the manzanita I knew it would be Idyllwild. When the Santa Anna winds are blowing just right you can see the ocean from that road between Idyllwild and Mountain Center (maybe other spots too). Many summer vacations spent up there working on our cabin.
That’s a nice area and a cool little town. I’ve been there many times. My homebase in Aguanga is only about an hour from there. Take care and safe travels.
Idlewild is a pretty fantastic area, when I first moved to Laguna Beach from Florida I managed to get into rock climbing in 1989, and doing an 8 pitch climb up Tahquitz was a big deal, will never forget it.
AH, eyes lit up when i seen that Great White get put in the ice chest...ITS MY FAVORITE...The brewery and restaurant are in Eureka CA....Highly recommend eating at the restaurant , good stuff but it does it crowded (didnt know there were that many people in Eureka lol )..Been going there for yrs passing through from the Bay Area to Crescent City....Restaurant is located right on Hwy 101 headed one way south in Eureka...The Brewery is at the beginning of the southern end of town as you come in from the south on Hwy 101...
Hi Catherine. Wow, living in San Diego, I’ve ridden my motorcycle up to Idyllwild several times. I have also camped there in my RV. It’s a wonderful place to escape city life. Safe travels as usual Catherine. ❤ 😊
Good Sunday morning to you Cat and Joey! So happy to see you guys are still out there doing what we love. You know you make my week and I look so forward to your videos, the best on the web. I am ready for your book Cat. Your friend in Pennsylvania. Bob😘
So nice to be with you and Joey on the cold night and morning in Idelwood. Going to miss Joey being with you on your awesome camping Trips. I wish him safety and good times on his travels. I will be waiting for your next trip, Catherine. 😊😊
Hey! I just had a thought! Get a bag of Hot Hands or Hot feet and put one in the bottom of your sleeping bag ! They last for about 8 hours each ! They also work great in a kids lunch box to keep soup hot until lunch ! Just. FYI ‼️
Good to see you again Catherine. Love the great little town, looks like a fabulous place to visit. So glad you got to spend time with family. Best wishes for a wonderful safe week!
Year-round camping...it's not for the faint of heart. And they say, 'When the going gets rough, the tough go shopping', hence the new hat. Yeah, an early season opening for Mammoth is always a good thing...bundle up out there, stay warm and travel on !!
I love idyllwild. Been there a few times. It’s very pet friendly so could bring my cat 🐈 who comes with me everywhere due to being a special needs rescue. But she is an adventure cat. Idyllwilds mayor is a yellow lab. I’m glad you got to show Joey the beautiful town of idyllwild.
Beautiful sceneries once again, and thank you for the history. On another note, I was reminded of the fact that it's been a while since I've had homemade chili and a big burrito.
Idyllwild campground was lovely with the surrounding trees as well as the prehistoric call of a raven, which always reminds me of camping in the Pacific NW. Thanks for sharing your travel adventures with Joey and I wish him the best on his own adventures. 🦉🪶🐺
Another beautiful "making me feel so happy" video, thank you Cat, your adventures bring me so much joy, I get to visit places I have never been before and experience the ambience of this town🥰
Looked like brine on the road. Cat sure captures the essence of camping in the mountains and the town of Idyllwild. Another wonderful video. Thank you.
As a kid being raised in a small house in a small roadside community called Midway between Beaumont and Banning, I could see Mount San Gorgonio from my front yard and Mount San Jacinto out the back door. The air was clear then - last time I was there, over sixty years ago, I couldn't see the mountains through the smog. When my folks took trips to Idylwild I thought I was in paradise. As a result I have always been in love with the Sierra, As an adult I lived for a brief while in the Sonora and Tuolumne area and made trips to the eastern Sierra when I could. Before my senior year my family moved to Redding where I was surrounded by mountains, rivers full of wild trout, and made my home anywhere I could see Mount Shasta for the first half of my life. I now live in Montana's Bitterroot Valley, country much like the Sierra in many respects - over 300 miles of small streams tumble from lakes above them like jewels from the crown of the Bitterroot Range. Your videos take me back home, back to the old home I left to live the latter half of my life in this part of Montana, which I now call home. I think you and Joey would love the mountains, hiking trails, wilderness lakes and streams here as well. Your camera would capture the unique beauties of this place - and you'd be reminded of the best of California by what wer have here. I'm lucky - my heart has three homes: The eastern Sierra, the Redwood Coast, and the Bitterroot. Thank you again for taking me back to places I may never see again, save for your wonderful videos.

I went to high school close to Idyllwild, and actually worked as a hostess at Silent Valley member campground when it first opened. We also had our high school proms at Mt San Jacinto tram! Thanks for the memories and keep on rockin❤❤
I really like the back of your truck camping. It’s a nice change and a simple way to get around without pulling a trailer behind. Looking forward to your winter adventures. Safe travels to you and Joey.
Fun to see Idyllwild! I used to live in Palm Springs, a 45 minute drive up the Palms to Pine Hwy from there. It was my fave getaway to beat the desert heat and also get to play in some snow. Thanks for sharing!
I really like this floorplan, but I think I like the dinedesk option better. Once again and like, always I say, "Get rid of the phone charger on the theater seat and add the cup holders. Goodmorning Cat and Joey!! I just love Idyllwild!! I remember going up there one time hiking with my son and on some boulders down between a crevice we saw a den of rattlesnakes with babies!! I’ve done the PCT five times and idyllwild is always a highlight! It’s where many Hollywood stars went to retire and enjoy the outdoors.
I love all of your videos catharine

Yes, Winter is here weatherwise. You probably wish your trailer was with you.
May be time to head south in search of warmer days. Enjoy the area wherever you land!

I'm now in the mood for some chili! Nice to see you and Joey back in our local mountains. That idyllwild area sure seems to get so cold.
Haha! It's pretty easy to make. Nice to hear from you Huck! Hope all is great!
Have a great trip Joey. Love you showing us these small mountain towns.
What is yummy video! I’ve got one of those tea kettles because I loved yours so much! I could almost smell the wet leaves, it was so much like the forest when it rains. Amazing!
Dig the rig, heat would be easy, have a blast Joey, thank you both for the adventures. It’s been a great season of camping, thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Yes, I do have the little Mr. Heater Buddy...I didn't bring it. lol
I felt like i was there ! A true camping trip. Along with cold weather and very strong coffee❤
A small tip for Cat. Try putting "one tea bag" with the paper tag hanging out in the pot while boiling your water. I get about four cups tea when I do this.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I've never done a cruise and have no desire to. I probably never will. lol Enjoy getting into some solitude.
I can’t complain! At least I got to see some great places. But now I know!
Always an awesome video!😊

I’m impressed with you. I want to do this, but have found the courage.
I was just camped up there last weekend at Hurkey Creek. Spent a lot of time in Idyllwild when I was little.
Nice area. Can get hot in the Summer however.
The Mountains are calling and Just up the road, I really need to go!! Great video footage as usual Cat, Thank You ❤

Thank you for this Cat. A beautiful place and one of the few in SOCAL I’ve never been to. Also my late San Diego cousin’s favorite place in the world.
Just a thought Catherine 🤔. How about shipping your truck over here to the Hawaiian islands and explore. Plenty of camping spots and warmer too😎.

On another note, I was reminded of the fact that it's been a while since I've had homemade chili and a big burrito.
Howdy Catherine, happy the weather has been favorable for your visit. I can see Lilly Rock from my driveway in Hxmxt.
My son and I used to camp up there many many times when we lived in San Diego. Great memories.
Many thanks for, yet another, delightful video, your content never dissapoints😃❤❤
You always do so good vidios.🤠👍
Love seeing the small towns. Wil have to put this area on my travel list. Thank you for another great video.
Thank you for watching!
Good Morning Catherine. I have been to Idyllwild and love those small mountain town cafe's.
I'm so glad!
Looked like brine on the road. Cat sure captures the essence of camping in the mountains and the town of Idyllwild. Another wonderful video. Thank you.
Thank you!
Thanks again Cat, I'm praying for your success, safety and peace. Wayne from Ramona.
That used to be called Jan's red kettle
Well, you were about an hour away from me. And it is cooling off. Winter is on it's way
Great video beautiful place take care and looking for your upcoming adventures. Glad you got spend.
some time with yo family!
I'd be surprised if the are no stronger truck gate handles made by third party companies. Maybe some enthusiasts could tell you if they are out there.
I caught my first trout on a fly from Lake Fulmor, a small impoundment on the way to Idylwild.
My love for the mountains was born there.
Later my family took vacations up 395 to the Sierra (lone Pine, Bridgeport) so I could fish. As a result I have always been in love with the Sierra, As an adult I lived for a brief while in the Sonora and Tuolumne area and made trips to the eastern Sierra when I could.

Great seeing Idyllwild and environs. I often hiked and camped in the San Jacintos back in the 1970's. Thanks for the memories.
Wonderful video. Seeing Idyllwild brought back memories.
Love the red kettle and the village
I really like this floorplan, but I think I like the dinedesk option better. Once again and like, always I say, "Get rid of the phone charger on the theater seat and add the cup holders. You are in my neck of the woods! Are the sites large enough for a 23 foot trailer? We have never camped in that part of the mountains.
Time for my Sunday morning meditation with Cat 💚
